Two Baltimore Women Convicted in Connection with Retail Theft Conspiracy

BALTIMORE, MD - Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today announced that Lisa M. Williams, 55 and Lyric McLaughlin, 23, both of Baltimore, pled guilty and were convicted of conspiracy to commit a retail theft scheme of $100,000 or more. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda Tanner sentenced McLaughlin to four years incarceration; Williams will be sentenced on July 24th.

According to information presented in court, from January 2017 through June 2017, Williams, McLaughlin, and others engaged in an organized retail theft scheme targeting retailers of clothing and accessories, including L Brands (Victoria’s Secret and PINK), Dick’s Sporting Goods, Hollister, Luxottica (Sunglass Hut, Lens Crafters and Pearle Vision), True Religion, JC Penney and Ulta.

McLaughlin and others would enter retail stores together, select large quantities of merchandise from store displays, conceal the items in large bags, and then leave the store without paying. The scheme occurred in counties across Maryland, with losses totaling more than $100,000. Williams and McLaughlin used Instagram as an online marketplace to advertise and sell stolen merchandise; discuss prices and brands; and provide instructions regarding how and where to purchase the items. Purchasers were often directed to the home of Williams in East Baltimore to buy merchandise.

In June 2017, Maryland State Police executed a search warrant at Williams’s home and recovered 99 boxes of accessories and clothing, many of which had price tags and security sensors still attached. Also recovered was the cell phone of Williams, which contained images and texts relating to the theft and sale of the stolen merchandise.

“These two women participated in an organized scheme to steal thousands of dollars’ worth of goods,” said Attorney General Frosh. “They walked into stores, stuffed their bags with luxury items and just walked out. The thefts and subsequent sales were brazen and numerous. Honest businesses can take comfort in the fact that we will prosecute and shut down theft rings like this one.”

The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office and the Maryland State Police, Criminal Enforcement Division, with assistance from the Office of the State Prosecutor, the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, and Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Memphis police officers injured in unrest following officer-involved shooting: reports

The fatal shooting of a suspect who allegedly emerged from his vehicle with a weapon after ramming the vehicles of approaching law enforcement officers sparked a clash between Memphis, Tenn., residents and police on Wednesday night, according to reports.

The suspect was not named by authorities but was identified by two local politicians and on numerous social media posts as Brandon Webber, 20. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said early Thursday that the suspect killed by the U.S. Marshals Service had been wanted on numerous warrants.

In the violence that followed, at least two dozen law enforcement officers and at least two journalists were injured, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland wrote on Facebook.

German circus goes cruelty-free and replaces animals with holograms

Ah, the circus. It’s a time-honored tradition, but the practice of training animals to do silly things for the amusement of youngsters is definitely old-fashioned and there are many reasons why it’s not a popular as it once was.

The treatment of circus animals is one of the biggest criticisms of modern circus companies and many people don’t feel that animals should be forced to perform for our entertainment.

Germany’s Circus Roncalli has heard those criticisms and taken them to heart. You can still go to a Roncalli performance and see animals like elephants and horses, only now the animals won’t actually be real, they’ll be high-definition holograms.

The company phased out using live animals in its shows back in 2017, but the addition of holograms is a relatively new development.

'Disorganized' DNC Dives Deeper In Debt As WikiLeaks Bombshells Haunt Party

The Democratic National Committee is once again in financial distress, and it could have a big impact on the 2020 election according to Bloomberg. In the first four months of 2019, the party outspent its contributions - tacking on $3 million in new debt as donor enthusaism has all but dried up.

"It’s trouble, it’s going to affect us," said Cincinnati-based Democratic bundler Allan Berliant, who says the party needs to open offices nationwide and get people mobilized.

"All of that starts with fundraising," Berliant added.
By the end of April, the DNC had collected contributions of more than $24.4 million, but had spent $28.4 million, according to the latest disclosures. It had $7.6 million cash on hand, $1 million less than in January. It posted $6.2 million in debt, including bank loans and unpaid invoices to vendors, Federal Election Commission records show.

That compared with the Republican National Committee, which thanks in part to Trump’s non-stop fundraising since winning the White House had $34.7 million in the bank and no debt. It raised nearly $62 million so far this year, two-and-a-half times the DNC’s haul. -Bloomberg

US Teen Flees To Avoid Student Loan Repayment: "I Had To Escape This Debtors' Prison!"

An American teenager fled the country in 2011 to avoid repaying student loans he took out to complete a college education. This isn’t the first time this has happened, and it certainly won’t be the last.

Stories of crippling student loan debt are not new, however, the idea that one can escape their obligation to repay the money they’ve borrowed is a symptom of the massive irresponsibility running rampant in our culture and propagated on a daily basis.According to the New York Post, a Pennsylvania man bought a one-way ticket to China to leave his financial woes behind after four years of job searching had gotten him nowhere in the United States.

Of course, no one held a gun to this man’s head and forced him to take out loans.

Chicago's Field Museum Now Insists You Refer To Its T-Rex Skeleton Using Gender Neutral Pronouns

Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History is home to some of the world's most treasured artifacts — mummies, rare gemstones, the taxidermied corpses of a pair of man-eating lions — and now, one huge, gender-neutral dinosaur skeleton.

According to Arc Digital, "Sue," Field Museum's Tyrannosaurus Rex — one of the most complete and largest T-Rex skeletons ever discovered — is working on becoming a "gender neutral" icon by adopting gender-neutral pronouns in her new private exhibit on the museum's second floor.

Sue is not, in fact, gender neutral or gender fluid. The T-Rex skeleton, discovered in South Dakota in the 1990s, was either male or female. The scientists who discovered Sue believed the skeleton belonged to a female because female T-Rexes are larger than male T-Rexes, and Sue was one of the largest dinosaur skeletons ever found; she's named "Sue" after Susan Hendrickson, who led the team that unearthed her.

A 26 year old who sums it up in an articulate and logical manner!!!

This article was written by a college student by the name of Alyssa Ahlgren, who's in grad school for her MBA.

It's a short article but definitely worth a read.

My Generation Is Blind to the Prosperity Around Us!

I’m sitting in a small coffee shop near Nokomis trying to think of what to write about. I scroll through my newsfeed on my phone looking at the latest headlines of Democratic candidates calling for policies to “fix” the so-called injustices of capitalism. I put my phone down and continue to look around. I see people talking freely, working on their MacBook’s, ordering food they get in an instant, seeing cars go by outside, and it dawned on me. We live in the most privileged time in the most prosperous nation and we’ve become completely blind to it. Vehicles, food, technology, freedom to associate with whom we choose. These things are so ingrained in our American way of life we don’t give them a second thought. We are so well off here in the United States that our poverty line begins 31 times above the global average. Thirty. One. Times. Virtually no one in the United States is considered poor by global standards Yet, in a time where we can order a product off Amazon with one click and have it at our doorstep the next day, we are unappreciative, unsatisfied, and ungrateful.

Our unappreciation is evident as the popularity of socialist policies among my generation continues to grow. Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said to Newsweek talking about the millennial generation, “An entire generation, which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity.”

Never saw American prosperity! Let that sink in. When I first read that statement, I thought to myself, that was quite literally the most entitled and factually illiterate thing I’ve ever heard in my 26 years on this earth. Many young people agree with her, which is entirely misguided. My generation is being indoctrinated by a mainstream narrative to actually believe we have never seen prosperity. I know this first hand, I went to college, let’s just say I didn’t have the popular opinion, but I digress.

Why then, with all of the overwhelming evidence around us, evidence that I can even see sitting at a coffee shop, do we not view this as prosperity? We have people who are dying to get into our country. People around the world destitute and truly impoverished. Yet, we have a young generation convinced they’ve never seen prosperity, and as a result, elect politicians dead set on taking steps towards abolishing capitalism.

Why? The answer is this, my generation has only seen prosperity. We have no contrast. We didn’t live in the great depression, or live through two world wars, the Korean War, The Vietnam War or see the rise and fall of socialism and communism. We don’t know what it’s like to live without the internet, without cars, without smartphones. We don’t have a lack of prosperity problem. We have an entitlement problem, an ungratefulness problem, and it’s spreading like a plague."

Limbaugh: Here's Why Trump Should Start Going To California

Rush Limbaugh offered a piece of counterintuitive advice to Donald Trump on his radio program Tuesday: "Go to California, Mr. President."

"I made a brilliant observation yesterday about the Democrats in California," said Limbaugh (transcript via RushLimbaugh.com). "Democrats in LA are appalled that homelessness in their city is rising and so much of it, and they’re mad that the Democrat candidates for president are not talking about it. And I told the people of LA (and I’ll do it again today), 'The Democrats are not gonna talk about your problems. They already own you! They don’t need to fix a damn thing in California.'"

Democrats know every election cycle that they will get all of California's electoral votes and the dominance of the Democratic Party in the state means that Republicans effectively "don't exist" on the Left Coast.

After Plagiarism Scandal, Biden Rips Off Avenatti’s Campaign Slogan. Avenatti Responds.

Fresh off his latest plagiarism scandal, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden ripped off indicted lawyer Michael Avenatti's proposed campaign slogan on Tuesday, which spurred reaction online, including from Avenatti.

During a campaign stop in Iowa, Biden said: "I think it's time, you know, [Trump] says, 'let's Make America Great Again,' let's make America America again."

People immediately noticed that Biden's remarks were an exact match for the campaign slogan that Avenatti had proposed using for his campaign before he encountered legal problems and decided not to run for office.

NEW YORK MOVES CLOSER TO GIVING DRIVER’S LICENSES TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

The New York Assembly on Wednesday passed legislation that would allow state residents who entered the country illegally to obtain driver’s licenses.

In a vote that fell along party lines, New York state representatives voted 86-50 in favor of the controversial “Green Light” bill, which would let illegal immigrants apply for a driver’s license with foreign documentation. Passage of the bill marks a major milestone for supporters. The legislation must now pass the Democratic-controlled state Senate, and New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has already signaled he would sign it into law.

“This legislation is in the best interest of the entire state of New York,” said state Rep. Marcos Crespo, the sponsor of the bill, according to the New York Post.

Kamala Harris: My Justice Department Will Indict Trump

Okay—well, remember when it was unseemly for one to suggest locking up your political enemies? Yeah, that was thrown out there because Donald Trump threatened to do that during the 2016 election. So, out goes “lock her up.”

“Lock him up” is the new Democratic war cry at least for one 2020 candidate. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) is promising to use the Justice Department to indict Donald Trump should she win the Democratic nomination and the general election next year. If you thought Obama’s politicization of the DOJ, which led to the alleged FISA abuses and Spygate fiasco, was bad—this will be Chernobyl –level damage to the institution. It’s funny. Again, for all the talk about how Trump is ruining institutions, staining them—they’re the ones that are actually doing the most damage from within (via NPR):

RAND PAUL INTRODUCES REPUBLIC BILL TO LIMIT PRESIDENTIAL EMERGENCY POWERS

Senator Rand Paul has teamed up with Democrat Ron Wyden to introduce a new bill that the pair say will return to Congress the authority to declare and oversee emergency powers currently wielded by the President.

The bill, titled the Reforming Emergency Powers to Uphold the Balances and Limitations Inherit in the Constitution (REPUBLIC) Act, would ensure that Congress has to approve declarations of national emergencies within 72 hours, and adds a sunset clause of 90 days.

There are currently 32 national emergencies in place, the most recent being President Trump’s border crisis declaration.

Currently, Congress can only respond to the emergencies after the fact, either expressing approval or not.

Some of the emergencies still in place date back to the 1970s and 80s.

US Government Spending Soars To All Time High As Deficit Hits Record For Month Of May

Another month, another frightening jump in the US budget deficit. And this time with a record surge in government spending to boot.

According to the latest Treasury data, the US budget deficit in May - not a traditionally high-spending month for the US government - was a whopping $208 billion, missing the $200 billion deficit expected, and well worse than the $147 billion deficit recorded last May.

And even though there may have been one-time calendar effects and time-shifts at play, the deficit was also the biggest budget deficit for the month of May on record.

MSM Parrots Dems' Anti-Trump Immigration Narrative

President Donald Trump is a “racist” and the proof is in the fact that he is doing … exactly what Barack Obama did. The mainstream media trumpeted the first part while failing to mention that significant fact about Obama making the same decision. Is it any wonder the vast majority of the American public has lost trust in the fake news media? Could it be any more obvious that the Leftmedia is the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party?

Case in point, with the ongoing border crisis threatening to stretch the Department of Homeland Security to the bursting point, DHS, in an effort to find more facilities to house the ballooning number of detained illegal aliens, has decided to use underutilized space on several military bases.

Millions in Dark Money Flows to Pro-Abortion Groups

A dark-money network of liberal groups and initiatives has pushed millions in funding to organizations that advocate for abortions.

Arabella Advisors establishes groups under trade, or fictitious, names, and acts as their "fiscal sponsor," which allows the groups to avoid filing public returns to the Internal Revenue Service. The network also acts as a "pass-through" entity for left-wing donors, who do not have to mark their money as going to the exact group that they are funding, but rather can make out the contributions to the particular arm at Arabella where the group is located.

One such group managed at Arabella, Lady Parts Justice, falls under its Sixteen Thirty Fund arm, which hosts 501(c)4 "social welfare" entities. Eric Kessler, a former Bill Clinton appointee and member of the Clinton Global Initiative, founded Arabella and acts as president of the Sixteen Thirty Fund.

Flashback: Lawsuits Follow PMDD Diagnosis-- Lowering the Bar

Since the late 2000s, more than 12,000 women have filed lawsuits claiming that the birth control drug Yaz, and a similar product, Yasmin, caused blood clots that led to injuries or deaths. Both drugs are manufactured by Bayer.

Yaz was approved in 2006 as a treatment for premenstrual dysphoric disorder, a more severe form of PMS.

A MedPage Today/Journal Sentinel analysis found the drugs were tied to more than 10,800 adverse events reported to the FDA by health professionals and manufacturers since 2013. That included more than 200 deaths and more than 6,000 hospitalizations.

Those problems were all reported years after the market peaked for the drugs in 2008. Further, the analysis focused on reports of problems submitted by health care professionals and drug companies.

As such, the number of complications is likely much higher.

The actual number likely is much higher because the system is voluntary for doctors.

"We take all adverse events seriously," said Bayer spokesperson Jennifer Brendel, who noted the reports to the FDA are not verified to determine if the drug listed actually caused the reaction.

DHS: Illegal Aliens Released into U.S. Without Undergoing Disease Tests

Border crossers and illegal aliens are being released into the interior of the United States without going through basic medical examinations and disease tests, Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kevin McAleenan admits.

In written testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, McAleenan admitted the thousands of border crossers and illegal aliens DHS is releasing every week are not undergoing disease tests.

McAleenan wrote:
The public health risk — family units are released into our communities with unknown vaccination status and without a standard medical examination for communicable diseases of public health concern, as well as a public health risk of disease outbreak at processing facilities. [Emphasis added]
Since December 2018, DHS has released nearly 205,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the U.S. — the overwhelming majority of which will never be deported. More than 1,000 border crossers and illegal aliens every day have been released into the country by DHS over the last half year.

Husband Of Virginia Beach Shooting Victim: I Think The Shooter Was Told To Leave His Job...Over A Year Ago

In July, Virginia will have a special session on gun control. It’s going to be another wave of trash anti-gun policies that could pass. The legislature is majority Republican but by a hair. All 140 seats in the House of Delegates are up in November. Democrats could take over and with the state trending blue—politicians’ survival instincts kick in. And by that, we mean that the GOP will cave on some things. They could hold the line. They did this past winter, but this session is being called in the wake of the tragic shooting in Virginia Beach, which left 12 people dead on May 31. The perpetrator, DeWayne Craddock, had recently submitted from the city’s government. He later came back and opened fire, armed with two handguns.

Craddock had not been forced out or fired, but we do have some reports that he wasn’t a pleasure in the office. In fact, he worried one of the victims of the shooting, Kate Nixon, though he was not the main cause of concern. Her now-widowed husband said it was another man who gave her even worse vibes. He did not disclose his identity, but he did suggest to his late wife that she should bring her firearm to work. Mrs. Nixon refused, citing the city’s gun-free zone policy for its workers.

The Left likes to mock Second Amendment supporters, but good guys (and gals) with guns stopping violent criminals is a daily occurrence. Anti-gun liberals know this; they just choose to ignore it. I’m not suggesting Mrs. Nixon would’ve stopped Craddock outright if she had been armed that day. No one has a crystal ball, but there is a strong possibility that there could’ve been a different outcome. Once again, we have an instance where someone intending to do harm did not abide by the law. This painful case shows that gun-free zones are not only ineffective; they’re dangerous. And keep law-abiding citizens bottled up shooting galleries. Yet, in the immediate aftermath, Nixon’s husband, Jason, wants a full-blown investigation into this awful incident, specifically all records relating to Craddock (via The Virginian-Pilot):

War College cancels speaker on Islam

A Muslim activist group has pressured the U.S. Army War College into postponing a speech by Ray Ibrahim, an expert on the historical roots of Islamic terrorism, after the group falsely labeled him as a racist and “Islamophobe,” he said.

The Philadelphia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a group critics say is linked to the Islamist international group Muslim Brotherhood, protested the speech in a letter to the college superintendent, Army Maj. Gen. John S. Kem, and provost James G. Breckenridge. Purporting to represent the “Muslim community” in Pennsylvania, CAIR stated that it opposed Mr. Ibrahim’s planned June 19 speech on “Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War Between Islam and the West,” which is also the title of his latest book.

The group asserted that Mr. Ibrahim’s publicly stated view — that Muslim hostility for and terrorization of the West is not an aberration but a continuation of Islamic history — has the potential to instigate hatred against Muslims.

“We also do not believe that there is any benefit to the U.S. in promulgating the inaccurate thesis that Islam is our enemy, as this stereotype only alienates millions of Muslim-Americans,” the May 28 letter states.

FEC chair warns of 'investigation' for anyone who accepts foreign election help

Federal Election Commission Chair Ellen Weintraub issued a stern warning Thursday saying anyone who solicits or accepts foreign assistance in an election is breaking the law.

The statement by Ms. Weintraub, a Democratic appointee to the FEC, came after President Trump said this week that he would gladly listen to such offers and would decide whether to report them to the FBI afterward.

“It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a U.S. election,” the FEC chair said.

Huge trove of DHS speeches erased from White House record just before Trump took office

If there's one thing that distinguishes Democrats from Republicans, it's got to be their habit of illegally erasing records of their times in office. It wasn't just Sandy Berger getting off scot-free after stealing archives to destroy, stuffing them down his pants. It wasn't just the BleachBit and hammers to destroy email records from an illegal unsecured private server from President Obama's secretary of state.

It's also things like this:

The Obama administration deleted hundreds of speeches and statements on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) website just hours before President Donald Trump officially entered office, according to research released Tuesday.

A collection of 190 transcripts of speeches on ICE's website was deleted on Jan. 18 and late in the evening on Jan. 19, 2017, according to research conducted by the Sunlight Foundation, a nonpartisan organization that advocates for government transparency. Statements made by high-ranking ICE officials regarding controversial immigration topics such as sanctuary cities, E-Verify, treatment of detainees, and other issues were included in the reported deletions.

‘Queer Bible Hermeneutics’ course teaches students about ‘queerness in the church’

A course at a theological school purports to teach students about LGBT issues contained in the Bible and in Christian theology. The instructor says the course is “always well-enrolled.”

“Queer Bible Hermeneutics” at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology is a “study of the historical, political, cultural, and religious-theological discourses about gender and sexuality in the context of the interpretation of the Hebrew Bible,” the course’s web page states.

The course “develops self-critical perspectives about the influence of biblical meanings on hermeneutically-dynamic, politically- and religiously-charged conversations over socio-cultural practices related to LGBTQ communities.”

The syllabus of the course states that queer hermeneutics is “an increasingly important research area in the academic field of biblical studies.”

The instructor of the course, Susanne Scholz, told The College Fix that the course is popular with students.

The new design sports red, white, and blue painting, reminiscent of his own personal Trump plane and a change from the iconic blue and white paint that has defined the Air Force One for over 50 years. Trump was responsible for making the designs himself.

Battleground voters ‘overwhelmingly support’ Trump immigration plan

Voters in several battleground states key to winning the 2020 election widely support President Trump’s newly unveiled immigration proposal spearheaded by chief adviser Jared Kushner.

What’s more, voters in seven states targeted by liberal Democrats said in a new survey that they will support the candidate who agrees with the Trump-Kushner plan to build the wall, crackdown on false asylum claims, chose skilled over unskilled immigrants and end “chain migration.”

The Zogby Analytics surveys conducted for the Federation for American Immigration Reform are the latest to show that immigration, and the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border, has become the leading issue in the early stages of the 2020 election. FAIR said that the White House plans are "overwhelmingly supported" by voters in the battleground states.

Why Are the Western Middle Classes So Angry?

What is going on with the unending Brexit drama, the aftershocks of Donald Trump's election and the "yellow vests" protests in France? What drives the growing estrangement of southern and eastern Europe from the European Union establishment? What fuels the anti-EU themes of recent European elections and the stunning recent Australian re-election of conservatives?

Put simply, the middle classes are revolting against Western managerial elites. The latter group includes professional politicians, entrenched bureaucrats, condescending academics, corporate phonies and propagandistic journalists.

What are the popular gripes against them?

Commission backs off, will lock private border wall gate at night

The international agency that had ordered a gate be permanently kept open on the privately built border wall in New Mexico has backed off on that demand.

The International Boundary and Water Commission, which handles waterway issues between the U.S. and Mexico, said in a letter Tuesday night that the gate, part of the half-mile We Build the Wall barrier near Sunland Park, will be locked at least some of the time.

The U.S. section of the commission “will lock the privately-owned gate on federal property at night effective immediately due to security concerns,” the panel wrote.

The gate, which was built on about 33 feet of federal property, had cut off official access to two waterways and public access to a U.S.-Mexico border monument — all without proper advance permitting, the Commission charged, which had prompted its earlier order that the gate be opened permanently.
