BREAKING NEWS: Wicomico County Executive Culver Asks Council President Cannon To Step Down

County Executive Bob Culver has asked Council President John Cannon to step down based on his recent statements at the last council meeting. He believes Cannon is also interfering with the Executives Office through violations of the Charter.

Cannon has been at the helm for way too long and his only interest is to bash Culver, (like Pelosi vs. Trump) and take away as many powers "We The People" voted for an executive branch of government.

While Cannon has nowhere near the popularity to become a County Executive, he's in charge of the Council portion and is dead set on taking those powers away from the Executive branch.

It's time to change leadership on the Council and move the County forward. Do you agree it's time for a change in that leadership?

BREAKING NEWS: Senate Votes To Overturn Order To Start Schools After Labor Day

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — The Senate has overturned Gov. Hogan’s executive order to start schools after Labor Day.

The final vote overturned the order 31-13.

WBOC, Copy & Paste

All too often people come on here and make comments stating I copy and paste articles and I'm not a real news site. While I don't expect 99% of you to be up this early, (and you shouldn't) but as I sit here and watch WBOC, it's 14 minutes into their broadcast and there's not been ONE single local news story. Fire in Virginia, fire in New Jersey, shooting in Chicago and the list goes on and on.

That, (ladies & gentlemen) is COPY AND PASTE. I do not park in handicap parking spaces, (above) and I am ONE individual dedicating my personal time to bring you news and information I personally feel you'll be most interested in.

I can tell you that I guarantee no one at WBOC got up yesterday at 3 AM, worked all day and night till I got home at 2:30 AM and I am now up at 6:00 AM to put today's articles together.

Maybe it's time I rethink just what the hell I'm doing here with SBYNews. It's now 6:50 AM and still not one local piece of news, just weather.

Wicomico County Executive Letter To Council President John Cannon To Step Down

Dear John,

Over the last 30 plus years I have been before County Council with my businesses, and over the last eight years as a Council person or Executive, I have never been more embarrassed for Wicomico County as I was for the Council’s behaviors last week. Led by you, you proclaimed the Executive’s office did not show to answer questions on Poplar Hill and we were stomping our feet and not showing up because we did not get our way on another request. You continued to proclaim that this was such a tragedy for the citizens of Wicomico County and it was no fault of the County Council. Furthermore, you continue to place blame on the Executive’s office.

When we found out Thursday evening that you placed Poplar Hill on the agenda for a work session, Wayne Strausburg called Laura Hurley to have it removed because we were not ready to go public. You were also aware that we were still awaiting a response from the State regarding the lease and other questions that we had proposed to the State. Laura explained to the Executive staff that you were asked twice to remove this from the agenda and that if we did not go through with this that you would be very upset. Once again, this proved that you were not looking out for the County residents’ best interest, rather you instead wanted to chastise the Executive’s office for not keeping you informed on public television.

We have been glad to keep you abreast of all things regarding Poplar Hill as we have found out information along the way. If you remember, when you met with me for 1.5 hours a couple weeks ago in my office, we talked about Poplar Hill and I answered every question you had. I also told you that we wanted to know what the state requirements were going to be before going public.

I hope you notified other Council members of our meeting and all subjects we talked about. Wayne and I explained that my choice was not to put ourselves in a position of not giving out complete information. However, that did not seem to stop you and other Council persons from criticizing. Did you tell the Council members what we talked about in its entirety?

We also invited the Council to the property site and shared our ideas for the facility from day one. Since that day, despite overwhelming support from the Governor, you and other members of the Council have sought to undermine the project, making untruthful and reckless comments. We have repeatedly advised you that there were many details that needed to be investigated before we could have a meaningful dialogue with the public.  And yet you persisted with empty, negative rhetoric designed to undermine trust.  You have succeeded.  We no longer trust the Council under your leadership as a working partner to improve this County.  Rather we view you as an entity almost solely focused on undermining me and my administration.

Another thing that needs to be straightened out is this last audit on the Election’s office. First, it was not in the plan of the yearly audit to be completed. There was no resolution for this audit. The charter requires a resolution for special audits. Who authorized it? The audit was the worst written, incomplete audit that I have seen produced. Neither auditor has any relevant experience that would enable an objective report. The auditors spoke to the Director of Elections about room sizes and bathrooms, when in fact the Director and Board of Directors had the plans for over 6 months and worked with the Executive’s office on layout. Furthermore, the auditor violated the Council’s adopted legislation (bill 2018-06) by not allowing management response within 30 days before internally releasing it. This is not the first audit that has violated this legislative action. I see these audits as hatchet jobs by Council directed towards the Executive’s office.

Over the past several years, you have taken it upon yourself to interfere with the Executive functions, directly violating the charter (section 314). At one time I had invited Council persons to speak directly with County Department heads to help initiate clear communication amongst Executive and Legislative branches of government. However, you have no right to approach board members or department heads and ask them to resign or they will not be confirmed because you disagree with their professional decision making. Before Christmas, you and Laura approached the County Attorney and asked him to resign stating that he also would not be confirmed. A similar action was taken against the Ethics Commission Chair after you stated that Council did not agree with the Ethics Board’s ruling.

In order for Wicomico County to move forward with the critical work and accomplishments, the Executive and County Council need the ability to work together and communicate.  The continuous attempt to spar with the Executive’s office over trivial matters is counterproductive.  While Council pronounces to be the “watch dogs” over Executive actions, we question Council’s confusion over charter authority.

Over the last several years: a) there have been continuous leaks from Council’s closed sessions; b) legislative actions are continuously being designed to circumvent the charter and reduce the Executive’s authority; c) there has been no communication with the Executive other than letters clearly written by the Council’s Attorney; d) there is a weaponized Internal Auditor that clearly lacks independence in preforming his job duties; e) a repeated Council interference in the Executive function; f) a continuous effort to ignore the advice of highly competent experts and decisions based on ignorance accompanied by a refusal to learn; g) the repeated public commentary designed to belittle the Executive and administration are not trustworthy or truthful; h) you preach transparency while not exhibiting any what so ever in your actions, and; i) it is clear that your decisions are grounded in personal differences with me rather than the best interest of the County.

Based on the actions above, I have little confidence that these situations will change under your leadership. I request that you step down as Council President and allow another member to step into your role to better accomplish the business and goals of the Wicomico County citizens. If you find this a harsh request, then maybe we can refer this matter to the Ethics Commission for resolution.

County Executive

United Methodist Church Gearing Up For Full and Official Affirmation of LGBTQ

February 23 marks the date for a special session of the General Assembly of the United Methodist Church, a gathering of denominational leaders, bishops, and clergy to deliberate the issue of homosexuality and other sexual perversions present in the church.

A Council of Bishops was asked by the General Assembly in 2016 to begin putting together an LGBTQ inclusion plan for the denomination and in 2018, the One Church Plan was unveiled and has the majority support of the denomination’s bishops. Next month, the plan will officially be voted on and is expected to pass nearly unanimously.

It’s no secret that the United Methodist Church has been apostate for years. They do not stand on the Scriptures as their authority nor do they hold to an orthodox view of Christ–to them God is a sin-affirming God who accepts people just how they are without repentance.

However, officially, the United Methodist Church currently does not allow the ordination of openly LGBTQ clergy–but that appears to be about to change.

Attorney General Frosh’s Statement on President Trump’s Emergency Declaration

BALTIMORE, MD (February 15, 2019) – Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today released the following statement:
“President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency on our southern border is illegal, unnecessary, and dangerous. The asserted purpose of the order – national security – is a sham. The President’s order diverts funds from legitimate emergencies and puts at risk the health and safety of Americans as a result. It is also an abuse of executive authority. Our office is reviewing the declaration’s impact on Maryland and all options for redressing this unconstitutional usurpation of power.”

Suspended Sentence For Growing Pot

SNOW HILL — One of two local men indicted last fall in a vast, sophisticated marijuana-growing operation pleaded guilty this week to one count and was sentenced to 18 months, all of which was suspended.

John Harrison, 31, of Berlin, was indicted by a Worcester County grand jury on multiple counts including possession of over 10 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to manufacture marijuana after the execution of a search and seizure warrant revealed a vast pot-growing operation on a property just north of Berlin. On Wednesday, Harrison pleaded guilty to the conspiracy to manufacture charge and the other counts against him were not prosecuted.

Prosecutors requested an 18-month sentence for Harrison with all but 30 days suspended. However, a visiting Worcester County Circuit Court judge sentenced him to 18 months, all of which was suspended. He was also placed on supervised probation for two years. Harrison’s co-defendant in the case, Michael Cluster, 33, also of Berlin, faces the same charges. Cluster is scheduled to appear for trial on March 12.

Last Sept. 18, local law enforcement agencies including the Worcester County Criminal Enforcement Team, with the assistance of the Ocean City Police Department Narcotics Unit, executed search and seizure warrants at various locations throughout Worcester County following an investigation into a suspected marijuana growing operation. The search warrants yielded multiple seizures of evidentiary value including a sophisticated marijuana growing operation at a location along Route 113 north of Berlin near the defunct Beach Club golf course.

New Chesapeake Bay Bridge Draft shows five Southern Maryland possibilities

Lexington Park, Md- In 2005 The State of Maryland conducted a study to determine whether to upgrade the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, The Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel or create a new one. No definitive plans were made.

Fast forward to 2017, and a $5 million, 4-year study was again being conducted.

One year into the new study the Maryland Department of transportation has released its first “Draft”, and “Pre-Decisional and Deliberative” maps. Included in these maps are fourteen possibilities for a new bridge, including five that connect Southern Maryland to the Eastern Shore.

Four of these possibilities connect Calvert County; Chesapeake Beach(to Talbot County), Plum Point, St. Leonard, and Cove Point (to Dorchester County), while a fifth would connect Lexington Park to Somerset County.

‘I’m Watching You, White Boy’

An op-ed was published in Yale University’s student newspaper on Thursday, suggesting that students collect and store evidence on white male classmates, so that it can be used to ruin political careers in the future.

“I’m watching you, white boy,” says author Isis Davis-Marks in an op-ed published in the Yale Daily News, who claims that she will save any evidence that she finds of white male classmates behaving badly — even if it’s “unintentional” — just in case she needs it to end a political career in the future.

“Everyone knows a white boy with shiny brown hair and a saccharine smile that conceals his great ambitions,” explains Davis-Marks in her op-ed, claiming that one day, she will turn on CNN to see that the “white boy” has become a “white man” sitting at his “Senate confirmation hearing.”

“When I’m watching the white boy,” writes Davis-Marks, “I’ll remember a racist remark that he said, an unintentional utterance that he made when he had one drink too many at a frat party during sophomore year.”

WBOC Far From Fair And Balanced Reporting

All you have to do is look at the two posts I put up the past two days on this particular matter and you'll very quickly see, most do not support John Cannon.

However, leave it to WBOC to deliver yet another ONE SIDED piece defending John Cannon. They went to the Chamber of Commerce for a statement but they never once discussed ALL of the topics Culver brought up in his well detailed letter and WHY Culver is asking Cannon to step down.

This is one of the key reason I support Culver, he's not politically correct, he's a businessman. Sound familiar?

WBOC's piece on this matter was flat out a HIT PIECE and as usual what they deliver is NOT "FAIR AND BALANCED" reporting. They've become a tabloid news outlet that HATES our President and County Executive.

SBYNews broke this story well before anyone else and SBYNews comments prove there is in fact another side that WBOC refused to report on.

NJ Voters Furious As Governor Murphy Prepares To Sign 'Rain Tax' Into Law

Just when frustrated residents of New Jersey, one of the most heavily taxed states in the US, thought Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy had already brought the state into the ninth circle of taxation hell with new taxes to save the state's ailing pension system, middle class voters in one of the least affordable states in the country have now been given one more thing to complain about: A tax on the rain.

After a bill authorizing the new local taxes was passed by the state late last month, Murphy is preparing to sign it into law, over the objections of the state's Republicans, according to the New York Post.

As one state lawmaker told the post, just when NJ residents thought the state had already laid claim to every revenue stream imaginable, Democrats have found one more thing to tax.

"Every time you think there’s nothing left to tax, we come up with something else," Assemblyman Hal Wirths (R-Morris-Sussex) exploded during a debate on the measure.

“It’s just never-ending down here.”

And voters are understandably furious.

Maryland Attorney General News Releases Update

Attorney General Frosh Joins Effort to Defend Temporary Protected Status Holders Before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals

BALTIMORE, MD –
Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh today joined a coalition of 22 attorneys general filing an amicus brief in Ramos v. Nielsen before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The brief supports the plaintiffs’ efforts to prevent the potential deportation of hundreds of thousands of people who hold Temporary Protected Status (TPS). This brief asks the Ninth Circuit to uphold the preliminary nationwide injunction that plaintiffs obtained in the district court, blocking the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from terminating TPS designations for Haiti, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Sudan.

“Deporting TPS holders in Maryland, and beyond, does not serve the public interest,” said Attorney General Frosh “These deportations would cause irreversible and harm to families, our workforce, and the individuals who would be returned to countries in the midst of crises and widespread violence, where their lives could be seriously jeopardized.”

Business Review Board: Amazon Pulls NYC HQ2 — Cuomo Blames Ocasio-Cortez

A state already reeling from tax revenue loss misses out on at least 25,000 new jobs.
The speculation turned out to be authentic. On Thursday, Amazon officially reneged on its New York City headquarters. The rumor that it would do so first appeared last Friday in The Washington Post, which disclosed that “Amazon.com is reconsidering its plan to bring 25,000 jobs to a new campus in New York City.” The Post elaborated, “The project … faces withering criticism from some elected officials and advocacy groups appalled at the prospect of giving giant subsidies to the world’s most valuable company, led by its richest man.” A man who, by the way, owns The Washington Post.

“After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens,” Amazonannounced yesterday. Why? “A number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.”

One of those politicians is actually Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who crowed about having “defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world.”

Activist Charged With Illegally Streaming Md. Congressional Staffers’ Meeting On Facebook Live

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — A college student at Salisbury University was charged last week with illegally streaming a Facebook Live at a meeting with a congressional staffer for Rep. Andy Harris, the state prosecutor’s office said Thursday.

Jake Burdett, 20, an advocate for the group Maryland Marijuana Justice, participated in a rally in front of the Salisbury Office for Rep. Harris in October 2018

When a congressional staffer of Harris’ office offered to meet the group, Burdett and a few others agreed to meet with the staffer in his office, which could only seat a few people, the state prosecutor’s office says.

When staff members noticed the group on their phones, they notified them they were not allowed to record in the office because of office policy.

Burdett, however, recorded the entire meeting, streaming it on Facebook Live, without the consent of the congressional staffer who conducted the meeting.

Gayle King Made Me Want To Throw Up This Morning

Can you just imagine if it was President Donald Trump who had the "black face" in his yearbook and just how badly the left wing liberals would be tearing him apart as a racist. This morning Gayle King and the CBS This Morning crew started making excuses for this piece of crap and how sorry he is for LYING numerous times to the public. They went on to say they had spoken to numerous citizens of Virginia who still support this Governor, yet they never once showed/interviewed ONE of them.

I'm just sick and tired of the excuses. The fact that these liberals will get caught doing such horrific things and then come back with, I'm so sorry. The man LIED, period. If this was one of your employees you'd flat out terminate them. End of story. The man IS a racist, he flat out lied and now because he's been caught, he's sorry. Throw the bum out of office and move on.

Trump uses Virginia scandals to knock Dems on abortion, race

President Trump on Monday seized upon recent scandals that have engulfed Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam in controversy to hit Democrats on abortion and race.

“In Virginia, the governor, he has gotten a little publicity lately,” Trump told a crowd of supportersduring a rally in El Paso. “I like him. He keeps us out of the papers. I like him. I’d like to find a few more guys like this one.”

Northam, a Democrat, is fending off calls for his resignation. He first made comments on a radio show about late-term abortion that some equated to an endorsement of baby killing. Days later, Northam came under intense scrutiny for a photo of the governor from his 1984 medical school yearbook page that surfaced showing one person wearing blackface and another in Ku Klux Klan garb.
