BREAKING NEWS: Wicomico County Executive Culver Asks Council President Cannon To Step Down

County Executive Bob Culver has asked Council President John Cannon to step down based on his recent statements at the last council meeting. He believes Cannon is also interfering with the Executives Office through violations of the Charter.

Cannon has been at the helm for way too long and his only interest is to bash Culver, (like Pelosi vs. Trump) and take away as many powers "We The People" voted for an executive branch of government.

While Cannon has nowhere near the popularity to become a County Executive, he's in charge of the Council portion and is dead set on taking those powers away from the Executive branch.

It's time to change leadership on the Council and move the County forward. Do you agree it's time for a change in that leadership?

  1. Cannons direction is self serving and against how the voters decided years ago.

  2. Not only step down but his assets, properties, taxes and dealings should be assessed as to how his council presence directly served his personal interests.

  3. Yes time for him to step down

  5. OMG yes, Cannon go home and stay there, you're not needed or wanted.

  6. It's about damn time. Cannon is nothing but a snake and worried about Cannon.

  7. Cannon should never had been given this position. Cannon is out for Cannon come hell or high water. He is another one that is destroying Wicomico County for his benefit. Nothing like his Father was and will never be a quarter of what his Father was.

  8. do you really think this rhino is going to step down. hes making too much money for his personal business to do that

  9. Behind you 100% - and then some Mr Culver! The last ballot was a FARCE...they were questions that should have NEVER been proposed...it's WHY we HAVE a County Executive and I trust Bob Culver to do the right thing by us!I really don't see a need for ANY Council!

  11. Put me down and my family in support of John stepping down for the good of the County. His subjectivity and bias towards the County Executive does not make for good government. It has become so obvious that it is embarrassing to see him in action and the negative impact that it is having.

Be the man you claim to be John, and do the right thing and step down!

  12. Absolutely step down

  13. His council membership and rental business are a conflict when it comes to serving the citizens with an unbiased mind. His only interests are self serving.

  14. John has enriched him self for long enough!

  15. John Cannon is only involved with the council due to the rental property industry. Isn't he the biggest single holder of properties now after his 9 million buyout last year??

  16. I also have to question the intelligence, character and integrity of the other Council members who have allowed this man to be Council President.

At the very least, the other members need to wake up and elect a different member as President. People are looking at whether THEY are putting the County first!

  17. Yes, agree with Bob. Time for John to step down.

  18. Cannon is 100% personal agenda....get out, let honest people govern.

  19. No, he’s doing exactly what he is suppose to do! He and the rest of the County Council keep Culver in check, that hurts his feelings but it is a good thing Cannon is there because Bob is not a executive.....except by title alone.

    1. Checks and balances in branches of government, tell me, who is checking the Council? No one. That is sad.

  20. Cannon should resign because of his vast rental properties,if that's not a conflict of interest what is.

  21. I'm with Mr. Culver all the way! Agree also with you, 4:03 and 4:10.

  22. Pack up John and don't come back!

  23. Support Culver. Wish Cannon wasn’t on council, let alone president. Hope he does step down.

  24. Time for Cannon to go, and take lying Joe Holloway with him. They both have done nothing but bust on Culver. They have a little clique and don't like Culver. Anything Culver supports is more good to them, they are holding back Wicomico county from growing and becoming more prosperous. Cannon and Mayor Day are a little too chummy, is it because Cannon has hundreds of slums in the city limits and his interest is taking care of himself by working deals with his position in the county council to keep the mayor happy. As for Holloway .... he's clueless in way over his ability.

  25. He continues to be the council president through lies and subterfuge. He should have been voted out three years ago but he pulled the wool over some council member eyes.

  26. It's not just rental properties, it's also undeveloped property in the city and county that's owned by him, his brother and their quiet partners.

  27. Totally agree with Bobby. Cannon must go!!

  28. We love Culver and he is the only honest one in Salisbury.

  29. Enough talk...HOW can we get him OUT NOW???

  30. @6:55 you got it!! There old man and Donnie Hall had the stranglehold on all the property on the north end of town that is now considered Salisbury. Why would a man worth tens of millions of dollars want to caught up in being council president unless he had that much skin in the game? You people bitch and complain about Jake Day spending your tax dollars while Cannon and his band of crooks use you to make millions of of you

  31. Bob started strong and should keep it up. However, some of the micro empires in the County department structure are detremental to the proper function of the county government. When problems are brought to the attention of anyone in power if it involves lifting a finger they want nothing to do with it; or will pass the buck to someone else in an effort to exhaust the citizen trying to see a problem solved. There should be a long hard look at the budget as the County is now going to be seeking a MS4 stormwater permit to comply with MDE regulations. Beware your property taxes will go up because current ditch infrastructure is in dire straits. Something they should have been maintaining for a long time is now urgent.

  32. This man is a snake in the grass, and has been one for a very long time. Leave Culver alone and let him do his job !!!

  33. Interesting that so many people are here complaining about John but you all voted him into office. He shanghaied his way to President again but his re-election made that possible. Does palm face mean anything to any of you cats?

Also don’t forget you voted for those idiotic amendments on the last ballot. That’s how Johnny gets to take away power from Bob. Maybe if you peeps did your homework before going to the polls, you’d stop voting for stupid.

  34. Two separate but closely related issues.

First, he was re-elected. Fault of the voters.

Second, he was elected Council President again. Fault of the council members.

    Take note, citizens.

    1. There’s a tad of backstory on that whole council deal. John has a way of strong holding the council members. He has scammed them many times into complicity because he plays them against one another. Hell, you’d think those boneheads would figure it out but they always fall for the ruse. Johnny knows them better than their spouses. They fall like a cheap deck of cards.

    2. Also. Look at the choices the people had for At Large! Dumb, Dumber, laDumified and Dumbnesto with a cocktail in hand as she drives. The pool was piss poor on both party sides this last year. It was to the point I couldn’t vote for any of them. That’s how bad it was.

  35. I'm sure you won't print this because you don't want to be asked, but what did he say or do to request he resign?

  36. now this is to damn funny, I like culver and cannon is a pos, but the county budget is only 150 mil. and at least we have bob there to keep an eye on things. I am more concerned with the wcboe budget of over 200 mil with no accountability! just a bunch of redmen good old boys enriching their buddies with little to no oversight by anyone outside their cabal!

  37. Why is the POS Wayne strausberg involved in this ?.
