Police officer fired after stopping two black men for 'acting suspicious'

An Indiana police officer was fired this week after a viral video showed him accosting two black men in a parking lot for “acting suspicious.”

One of the men said in the description of the YouTube video — which has garnered almost 400,000 views since being uploaded on Nov. 13 — the two of them had just finished purchasing merchandise from Nordstrom Rack when the constable, identified by WTHR as Daryl Jones, followed them out of the store and yelled he was going to run their plates as they left their parking spot.

Mr. Jones, who was off-duty and was working security for the Nordstrom Rack when the incident occurred, said they “circled back to ask him why he was being invasive and abusing his authority” and began filming before he walked up to the car.

The two men, identified by news stations as Aaron Blackwell and Durell Cunningham, were instructed by Mr. Jones to give their IDs. When one of the men asked why, he responded, “because I told you to.”

The men asked several times why they were approached in the parking lot, why he wants to see their licenses, and for him to call his supervisor.

  1. Hard to believe cops are still falling for this crap. Let them steal, destroy and rob. Who cares put your BLINDERS on and get that pension. R.O.D retired on duty. Everyone knows he walking into a set up and the departments fire first attitude ask questions later now.

    1. More libutard run cities. Protect the THUG'S. Fire the LEO. Then they'll be saying they can't understand why we can't get officers.

    2. "I got my rights to do anything I want to do, I’m a police officer.”

Sounds like Officer Mall Cop was the only wannabe thug on the scene. What shred of real evidence do you have that shows the two men beimg stopped were doing anything but going about their day?

  3. Law enforcement is not about protecting and serving. It’s about having a job and not being good at it. To the least as possible. Let the criminals have the street. It’s what everyone wants anyway. Protect your family and take vacations.

  4. Did any of you numbnuts even read the article, much less watch the video? Show me where it says those two were thugs, committed a crime, or ANYTHING that warranted this cop's actions?

This cop was on the job for 20 years and doesn't know he can't make a stop without reasonable suspicion? He needed to be fired, especially like he did, oh, wait...

That hero and those blindly supporting him are part of the problem of law enforcement. Abusing their position just creates more problems, for everyone. Cops included.

  7. The problem is that although these 2 black men may be innocent this is the exception but not the rule. Their past actions have caused this so called profiling.

  8. You're nuts 8:55.

This was a not-so-rare cop who had gotten very fond of flashing his authority around and feeling important.

He SCREWED UP-- bigtime. And people like this are a good reason why the knuckleheads you refer to have some justification in protesting the treatment some get.

This was clear, blatant discrimination. Period.

    (PS-- I'm white.)

  9. 8:55 is 100% correct! The odds and the past 4 million arrests prove this is the truth! The majority are involved in some form of criminal enterprise or scheme. FBI stats even back this up. 8 out of 10 blacks have been arrested, whereas only 6 out of 10 whites.

  10. Northwest Woodsman: my previous attempt to comment was culled so I will attempt to be more sensitive. I would be suspicious also because I have personally observed a certain cultural propensity to stuff things down their pants or under a skirt on numerous occasions. Yes, it is profiling but profiling would not even exist if certain groups didn’t display similar and easily identifiable characteristics on a universal basis. Doesn’t matter if you are Irish, Chinese, black, etc., if your ethnic group demonstrates a particular behavior over and over again, profiling will be the natural result. Regardless of the perception that has been brought forward by government political correctness indoctrination, profiling is a valuable tool in preventing and solving crimes. Yes, even those of you who claim to be so virtuous are guilty in some way of profiling on a daily basis.

  11. After 25 years enforcing the laws of a state, in my vast experience, this race seems to think the world owes them and it is their right to take stuff. The many outnumber the few good ones.

  12. You cant just harass people because there black that's not fair. The majority of the things cops do is complete bs 80% of cops think there untouchable above the law in reality they grew up weak nerds who crave authority go catch some murderers rapist and child molesters and stop harassing the general public especially black people its complete non sense cops get good pay great benefits appreciate what you got know your role and shut your mouth
