TOWSON, Md. —In a party line vote on Monday night, the Baltimore County Council approved a bill that requires landlords to accept tenants with federal housing vouchers.
Democrats approved it, while Republicans voted against the legislation.
Councilman Julian Jones said he believes this bill will help break generational cycles of poverty, but some critics said they don't believe it will.
"A big night for Baltimore County," County Executive Johnny Olszewski Jr. said, celebrating after the passage of the HOME Act.
Olszewski was required to introduce the bill as part of a 2016 agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

ReplyDeleteThis will leave all apartment complexes to degrade to the slum category.
ReplyDeleteI have seen places where voucher recipients let their units go right down the $#!tter.
But did they say who is going to pay for damages?? I have a house in Salisbury. Rented it to White's. NO PROBLEM. Rented it to two black families because it's the law you can't discriminate. They trashed the house and skipped out on EVERYTHING. Now I'm fixing it up for thousands of dollars just to get it back to normal. But it's going to be sold as soon as I can. SCREW Salisbury and Wicomico county government.
ReplyDeleteLook around salisbury your city is FULL of apartment complexes and more to come out on beaglin park just waiting for the rest of the Baltimore thugs to occupy
ReplyDeleteThis is the beginning of government controlling everyone and of course Maryland Democrats are the ones to start it.
ReplyDeleteThat is what is happening in Wicomico County even without that bill. That's why all this apartment style building has been going on in this county. They come down from Baltimore and our LLC Builders give them homes along with the problems from Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteTry using a voucher in Fox Chase or Nithsdale. LMAO!! Won’t happen.
ReplyDeletePlease @3:09 nithsdale has quickly become a stomping ground for all the voucher housing assistance recipients right down the street. They have been plagued with theft and break ins.
ReplyDeleteNorthwest Woodsman: How is it possible to construe forcing landlords to accept blacks who will destroy his property, into breaking generational cycles of poverty? Where do these Marxist democrats come up with such ridiculous BS? My god, they are misguided but do serve as a form of perverted entertainment.
