Maryland 'towing dispute' leads to death of tow company employee, police say

A tow company employee was killed early Sunday in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C., after a "towing dispute" turned physical, according to officials.

The Prince George's County Police Department said in a news release the altercation between 41-year-old Tarreak Butler of Washington, D.C., and 24-year-old Damian Howard happened around 1:50 a.m. Sunday in College Park, Md.

Patrol officers responded to the towing company on College Avenue, where they found the men "in a physical struggle," police said on Twitter. Officers reported witnessing Howard "holding the victim in a chokehold and that the victim was unconscious."

  1. I didn't even have to look at the story and I automatically knew the races involved.

  2. There are some racist people in Salisbury. Just pathetic! How could u automatically assume they were black when just as many whites are doing same thing?

  3. The towing companies in that area are one step down from Somali pirates. They circle apartment and condo parking lots they have contracts with and will have a car immobilized before the driver pushes the buzzer for entrance to the building.

Not difficult to imagine what led to the conflict.

  4. You either keep up with car payments or suffer the consequences. The car isn't yours until it's paid off.
