A Viewer Writes: Wicomico county balloon release ban
Good morning Joe, I wanted to see if any other Wicomico County residents see the irony in the county banning the release of balloons due to environmental reasons but they will allow this garbage "Wicomico Weekly" newspaper to be thrown out along the roadway and in people's yards. There are three different signs posted in our neighborhood that read "NO LITTERING 1000.00 FINE" yet our roads are saturated with this publication every week. If this paper wants to reach all the residents make them put up the proper receptacle.
so tired of picking up their garbage in my driveway. would love to find out who's the fool in charge of this rag, and dump their trash in his yard!
ReplyDeleteCity of Fruitland passed a city wide ordinance banning that paper from being distributed without permission from each Resident. I was very happy when they did this and it stopped!
ReplyDeleteIs that any worse than the mail carrier filling your mailbox with STD (junk) mail and getting paid by you to do it?
ReplyDelete8:57- Yes, it is worse. Dont try and flip the conversation and blame the author for something they have nothing to do with.
DeleteIf their papers were to end up in my yard, they would get a bag of trash in theirs.
Yeah! And hopefully girdletree, I'll be fishing down your way tomorrow. yee hee!
Deletethe bayside gazzette is the same way.they throw them around berlin for everyone to pick up.what a waste of a paper!
ReplyDeleteMayor Day and Salisbury City Council, are you listening?
ReplyDelete@9:46 Of course they are not listening! You can bet your last dollar that THEY have probably already made threats and no longer get the papers in THEIR yards!
ReplyDelete9:46 AM, hell no they are not listening or it would stop. Do they ever listen to what residents want? I don't think so, they continue with their agendas.
ReplyDeleteThere's a phone number inside that you can call to have it discontinued at your house. I called once and never got another one, but all my neighbors still do. Easy peasy...
ReplyDeleteWe have called and still get the trash rag thrown in our yard.
DeleteI called more than once and it continued to be delivered.
DeleteI've called and got it canceled and then when they get a new carrier for the area it starts up again.
DeleteJust kick the paper out into the street, like we do!
ReplyDeletejust throw them in daily rag parking lot
ReplyDeleteAnd yet the Kirwan Commission releases a toxic lead balloon that will
ReplyDeletedrain the resources of the community, and the silence is deafening.
Good work council. Nonfeasance at its best.
Or you can all just stop being so lazy and recycle it. Therein lies the difference between recyclable paper and a rubber balloon polluting land and waterways.
ReplyDelete10:22 it didn't stop after 10 calls. I threaten to call the Police and get them for littering since they control their distribution. Then it stopped
ReplyDelete@11:05 then do we take down the tag of the poor delivery person trying to eeek out a living and have them fined 1000.00?? Any other person's caught by the authorities would possibly receive such why is the "wicomico weekly" exempt
ReplyDeleteThis needs to be enforced county wide. It is just plain littering and nothing else, I don't care if the litterers are paid shills or not. Arrest them and let them turn in their leaders.
ReplyDeleteThe reason it keeps getting thrown into you yard is so they can tell advertisers the paper is delivered to XXX many homes. This paper is all about revenue.
ReplyDeletePEOPLE, stay with the content of the question. Why does WICOMICO COUNTY approve throwing a garbage paper all over the entire counties roadways but passed a law prohibiting balloons being released?? Who is benefitting financially from this paper and why does your county council and county executive allow one but not the other??!!?! Follow the money
ReplyDeleteI was wondering who was tossing these papers in my driveway...
ReplyDeleteso, I waited...here she comes...down the street...tossing out papers as she drove...
as she got closer to my home...I got scared...
it looked like GODZILLA was driving the van
I'm scared to call the number
I have called them 3 times in the past 18 mos. BEGGING them to Stop Dumping this paper on my driveway...what can we do to make this stop???
ReplyDeleteHow long have balloons been around? Hmmm seems like forever. Only now it’s an issue. Funny how these people complain about balloons but downtown businesses are leaving by the droves because of city mismanagement. They don’t seem to be too concerned that the Salisbury area is dying a slow miserable death financially. No. It’s the balloons that are the problem. With priorities this screwed up it’s no wonder an idiot like Jake Day gets re-elected. Hell, Ireton would still be your mayor if you had your druthers. Yep. Keep going.
