Maryland Murder Suspects Captured in Delaware


Newark – The Delaware State Police have arrested Larence R. Godfrey, 36, and Michelle L. Godfrey, 41, both of Washington D.C., as out of state fugitives, based on warrants out of Prince Georges County, MD, charging them with 1st Degree Murder.
On Saturday morning, December 29, 2018, Delaware State Police homicide detectives were contacted by the Prince Georges County (MD) Police Department, in regards to the Godfrey’s, who were wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred in their jurisdiction on Friday, December 28, 2018. Information obtained during the course of their investigation determined that the suspect’s had fled to Delaware in an orange, Chevrolet HHR with Maryland tags, and were possibly in the Glasgow area of Newark.
At approximately 2:10 p.m., Detectives from the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assisted by the Troop 2 Drug Unit and Governor’s Task Force, located the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex on Four Seasons Parkway in the area of S. College Avenue (DE Rt. 896), Newark. Detectives were able to confirm that the occupants of the vehicle matched the descriptions of the Godfrey’s. A traffic stop was then conducted by members of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT), resulting in both suspects being taken in to custody without incident.
Larence Godfrey was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution and Michelle Godfrey to the Dolores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution, both on fugitive warrants, pending their extradition back to Maryland.
