Birthright Citizenship: A Fundamental Misunderstanding of the 14th Amendment

What’s the citizenship status of the children of illegal aliens? That question has spurred quite a debate over the 14th Amendment lately, with the news that several states—including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Oklahoma, Georgia, and South Carolina—may launch efforts to deny automatic citizenship to such children.

Critics claim that anyone born in the United States is automatically a U.S. citizen, even if their parents are here illegally. But that ignores the text and legislative history of the 14th Amendment, which was ratified in 1868 to extend citizenship to freed slaves and their children.

The 14th Amendment doesn’t say that all persons born in the U.S. are citizens. It says that “[a]ll persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” are citizens. That second, critical, conditional phrase is conveniently ignored or misinterpreted by advocates of “birthright” citizenship.

Critics erroneously believe that anyone present in the United States has “subjected” himself “to the jurisdiction” of the United States, which would extend citizenship to the children of tourists, diplomats, and illegal aliens alike.

Trump administration approves Wisconsin Medicaid work requirement

Wisconsin will begin requiring people on Medicaid to work or train for work as a condition of staying enrolled in the program, despite a legal battle in Arkansas over a similar program.

The Trump administration approved a Medicaid waiver for the state on Wednesday, with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma calling it a program to "achieve independence and self-sufficiency."

The approval came even though a lawsuit knocked down a similar provision in Kentucky and another suit is pending in Arkansas. It also arrived less than a week ahead of Election Day as Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who backed the requirements, is neck-and-neck with his Democratic challenger, Tony Evers.

Who Died and Made Robert Mueller Lord and King?!

On Tuesday we were given information on accusations against former FBI Director Robert Mueller.

This came after Robert Mueller called on the FBI to investigate a media report that women were being paid to accuse him of sexual misconduct. So here’s a question – Why does Mueller get to use the full power of the federal government to investigate charges against him? Who died and made him lord and king?

President Trump spends millions on legal fees to address personal accusations but King Mueller spends nothing and instead has the American taxpayer pay his legal fees?

David Horowitz: Corrupt Media Reaches for 'Racism' as Last Resort

In the beginning, the Florida gubernatorial contest looked to be a no-brainer.

On the one hand, Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is an Iraq War veteran and Bronze Star recipient, a Harvard Law graduate, and a three-term congressman representing Florida’s sixth district. His opponent, Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum, is facing corruption investigations by the FBI, and is a demagogue who fends off questions about his coziness with pro-terrorist groups by calling them racial attacks.

But the Democrats and their complicit media have put DeSantis on the defensive by making it a campaign about race.

Hanoi Jane Fonda and Liberal Hollywood Elites to Appear on Democrat Voter Telethon!

In 1972 “Hanoi” Jane Fonda applauded an NVA anti-aircraft gun crew during her trip to North Vietnam. These guns were used to shoot down American planes and contributed to the deaths of American Airmen.

Jane Fonda once said, “If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become communist.”

Hanoi Jane Fonda and several Hollywood elites will make appearances on a liberal voter telethon next week.
Yahoo.com reported:

Hollywood celebrities including Jane Fonda, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Amy Schumer will take part in an online telethon on Monday to urge young people to pledge to vote in Tuesday’s congressional midterm elections.

The two-hour “Telethon for America,” created by comedian Ben Gleib, will be streamed live starting at 9 p.m. ET on Monday on YouTube, Facebook Live and Comedy Central’s website, organizers said in a statement.

This telethon, unlike traditional ones, will not ask for money. Instead, viewers will be urged to call in to a celebrity phone bank and pledge to vote in the next day’s election.

More than 50 actors, comedians and YouTube stars will take part, including Judd Apatow, Chelsea Handler and Olga Kay. The celebrities will be encouraged to simulcast the program live on their own social media channels.

Islamists Behind 84 Percent of Terror Killings in West

Islamists were responsible for a massive 84.27 per cent of terror killings in the West in 2017, with 66.67 per cent of the perpetrators coming to their target country from abroad.

The number of foreign-born radical Islamic terrorists carrying out attacks in Western countries was up substantially from 2016, when 40.54 per cent of attackers struck outside their country of origin, according to a report by the Henry Jackson Society.

Islamists achieved their 84 percent share of terror fatalities despite accounting for 48.53 percent of terrorist incidents overall, suggesting they tend to be more lethal than, for example, far-right terrorists — who accounted for 20.59 percent of terrorist incidents but only 12.36 percent of terror fatalities.

UC Davis is holding eight faculty searches focused on candidates' contributions to diversity, instead of narrow disciplinary expertise

Hoping to increase faculty diversity, UC Davis is holding eight open searches focused on candidates' contributions to diversity, instead of narrow disciplinary expertise.

The University of California, Davis, is launching a pilot hiring program that eliminates the requirement -- typical in department searches -- that candidates have a specific disciplinary specialty.

Davis says the research-backed approach will help it increase faculty diversity.

“Part of having a diverse student body poised for success is having a diverse faculty,” said Philip H. Kass, vice provost for academic affairs. "Part of having intellectual leadership in research and scholarship is having a diverse faculty. Part of bringing students of color into graduate school and academic careers is having a diverse faculty.”

Davis is funding the program with some $422,000 of a $7 million University of California System-wideinvestment in faculty diversity, in addition to existing campus funds.

The eight school- and college-wide searches that make up the pilot program will, in the university’s words, “cast a broad net and reach out to candidates who are contributing to enhancing diversity and inclusive environments through their research, teaching and service.”

A Senate Judiciary Committee report released Saturday revealed that committee investigators interviewed a man who described a sexual encounter with Christine Blasey Ford that shared similarities to the one she claimed she had with Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh.

According to the report, a man — whose name is redacted — told committee investigators in an interview on September 26, 2018, that when he was a 19-year-old college student, he had visited D.C. over spring break and kissed a girl he believes was Christine Blasey Ford. According to the report:

He said that the kiss happened in the bedroom of a house which was about a 15-to 20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro, that Dr. Ford was wearing a swimsuit under her clothing, and that the kissing ended when a friend jumped on them as a joke. [Redacted] said that the woman initiated the kissing and that he did not force himself on her.

Perdue AgriBusiness Chooses Tradepoint Atlantic for New Organic Grain Facility

Will Create 25 Jobs in Eastern Baltimore County

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Perdue AgriBusiness, a division of Perdue Farms, announced today a $30 million investment to open an organic grain receiving and storage facility at Tradepoint Atlantic in eastern Baltimore County to meet the rising demand for organic feed ingredients for Perdue Foods and other companies in the region. The facility will also include grain and oilseed processing/milling and support more than 25 new jobs.

“Tradepoint Atlantic at the Port of Baltimore is ideally located to receive grain and supply organic customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Dick Willey, president, Perdue AgriBusiness. “We work directly with local farmers and traders in the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia to source organic grain and soybeans. This new complex will be a key part of an integrated supply chain that enables us to increase business and reduce the cost while maintaining the quality of our organic products.”

“We’re on a mission to make organic chicken more accessible to more consumers, but the limiting factor is the availability of organic grain,” said Perdue Farms CEO Randy Day. “Expanding our grain operations at Tradepoint Atlantic and the Port of Baltimore will support the continued growth of our organic poultry production in the region.”

Perdue is the leading producer of USDA certified organic chicken and the PERDUE® brand is the number one brand of chicken in the U.S. Perdue AgriBusiness sources, purchases, and processes agricultural commodities and offers a diverse portfolio of products, including grains, soybean meal, feed ingredients, and edible oils.

“Perdue has called Maryland home for nearly 100 years, and our administration is excited about their latest commitment to Baltimore County and our state,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “Global companies like Perdue who continue to invest and grow in our state prove that Maryland is truly open for business.”

“Perdue’s decision to locate their new grain processing facility in the Baltimore region speaks to the continued commitment of this company to Maryland,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill. “Locating at Tradepoint Atlantic gives Perdue Agribusiness a strategic advantage to be close to a number of major interstates, rail lines, and our world-class Port of Baltimore, making deliveries to customers in the region fast and efficient.”

“Perdue joins FedEx, Amazon, Under Armour and Pasha Automotive in recognizing the advantages of Tradepoint Atlantic – a great Sparrows Point location next to the Port of Baltimore. Perdue’s organic grain and storage facility will feed their business, and our economic growth, through $30 million in new private investment,” said Will Anderson, director of the Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development.

Former Criminals Get Jobs, Training in Donald Trump's Go-Go Economy

Baltimore construction firms are training and hiring hundreds of ex-convicts because they cannot hire enough migrants in President Donald Trump’s “Hire American” economy.

Project Jumpstart “is a training program that prepares Baltimore residents for work in construction,” says a CNBC report:

It’s a 90-hour course designed to get workers ready for the realities of the construction job site. Classes are held twice a week and students receive a $25 stipend for each class. If they are late, however, they lose the stipend, and on the third absence they are out of the program, according to placement director Kate McShane.

McShane says 75 percent of participants have some acquaintance with the criminal justice system.

The project has placed roughly 650 graduates into jobs at more than 150 companies around Baltimore, which is still suffering from a massive crime wave that began when President Barack Obama began his anti-police campaign in 2014.

Salvini To Cut Migrant Allowance In Half, Saving €400 Million

Italy's populist interior minister, and de facto most important politician, Matteo Salvini has continued his assault on what he views as Italy's biggest problem, and is expected to drastically cut the daily allowance for migrants in Italy, claiming the country could see save up to €400 million by 2019.

According to Il Giornale, the proposal would slash by almost half the current daily allowance of €35 per day to only €19 per day, which would be one of the lowest rates in western Europe. And, according to the Interior Ministry, the cuts would lead to a saving of €400 million in 2019, rising to €500 million in 2020 and €600 million in the years thereafter, unlocking much needed budgetary savings for a country that remains l

The move would also be part of the broader migration and security decree released by Salvini in late September, which also banned residency permits for so-called humanitarian reasons. Migrants will now be classified into two groups: those with recognized asylum claims and those without according to the Italian press. Those with refugee status and recognized underage migrants will have broader access to funding and government programs.

Ocean City Police Establish Surveillance Camera Registry

OCEAN CITY, MD – Officers of the Ocean City Police Department are using surveillance footage as an investigative tool more often as both residential and commercial surveillance cameras continue to rise in popularity in the resort. To make the process of finding available surveillance cameras easier, the OCPD has established a surveillance camera registry on their website.

Surveillance camera footage has been a part of countless investigations in recent years. In 2017, video was collected over 100 times for investigative purposes. Currently, when an investigator feels that surveillance footage would be helpful to a case, the officer or detective must canvas the neighborhood to determine where cameras might be located and if they would be helpful. The registry would allow officers to easily determine where cameras are located, a detailed description of how the camera operates, and the property owners contact information.

“As the surveillance camera registry grows, it will be an invaluable tool for our officers when they are working to solve crimes,” commented Chief Ross Buzzuro. “We are hopeful that every property owner with a surveillance camera will share their information with us and that this will become a city-wide neighborhood watch, of sorts.”

To sign up, property owners should visit oceancitymd.gov/police. Citizens will find a link to the Surveillance Camera Registry form and will be asked to provide contact information, details about the camera and its retention period, areas that the camera covers, and other details. The registry will be kept confidential and only accessible to members of the OCPD.

For more information, contact the OCPD Public Affairs Office at 410-520-5395.

Mansour: Manufacturing a Smear – How the Democrat-Media Complex Turned Brett Kavanaugh into a ‘Rapist’

The day he was sworn in as an associate justice of the Supreme Court, Brett Kavanaugh made history as the first justice to hire an all-female staff of law clerks. This was in keeping with his record of hiring more women than men and of sending more women to clerk on the Supreme Court than any other judge in the country during his 12-year tenure on the federal bench.

The women who clerked for him – including those who identify as liberals—describe him as “a lifelong mentor who feels an enduring responsibility for each of his clerks,” “an extraordinarily thoughtful man, who goes out of his way to be kind” and whose “hiring and support of women alone has helped to really diversify the range of Supreme Court clerks.”

So how did a man who is a proven ally of women, who is universally praised by female colleagues and has never had any complaints lodged against him over his decades-long career, come to be labeled a “rapist” and those who voted to confirm him to the Supreme Court as “rape enablers”?

NRA: Vote like Your Gun Rights Depend on It--Because They Do

The NRA is urging its six million members and other freedom-loving Americans to vote like their gun rights depend on it–because they do.

The NRA tweeted:

The Second Amendment is on the ballot. If you don’t vote, you are supporting the Bloomberg/Schumer/Pelosi EXTREME gun control agenda. It is that simple.
The NRA’s point is clear: the Second Amendment is in danger at state and federal levels if gun voters do not pour into the polls.

At the state level, Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D) has made clear that the outcome of her gun control plans could mean Georgians have to “turn their guns in.” Moreover, Abrams wants to add a three-day waiting period for gun purchases and universal background checks. She also wants to repeal campus carry, which is a law that allows concealed carry permit holders to keep their guns with them for self-defense on public college and university campuses.

On the federal level, Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) claims to be pro-gun, yet he voted against both of President Trump’s pro-Second Amendment Supreme Court nominees. Conversely, Tester voted for both of President Barack Obama’s anti-Second Amendment Supreme Court nominees.

Tester has a D rating from the NRA, whereas his challenger, Matt Rosendale (R), has an A rating.

The report details each witness interview conducted by congressional investigators and provides substantial evidence and statements refuting accusers.

Democrat Stacey Abrams: People May Have to 'Turn Their Guns In'

During a November 4 appearance on CNN’s State of the Union Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D) admitted that a possible outcome of her gun control plans could be that “people would turn their guns in.”

She said other options might include “buybacks” and/or “grandfathering in” certain firearms, so current owners could keep them but be barred from selling them or transferring them to other individuals.

Abrams began by telling host Jake Tapper that “AR-15s are not necessary on our streets.” She then called for more gun control “semiautomatic weapons” in general. She did not mention that semiautomatic handguns like Glock, Kimber, Ruger, Walther, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory, etc., are the go-to choice for concealed carry and self-defense. Rather, she simply called for new controls for firearms with semiautomatic actions.

In 2016, Soros Boasted Of Spending $500 Million On Migrants

“I have decided to earmark $500 million for investments that specifically address the needs of migrants, refugees and host communities,” Soros wrote in The Wall Street Journal.

Democratic donor George Soros earmarked half a billion dollars in 2016 to support migrants, writing that “harnessing the power of the private sector” is critical to support the “tens of millions of people [who] are on the move, fleeing their home countries in search of a better life abroad.”

“I have decided to earmark $500 million for investments that specifically address the needs of migrants, refugees and host communities,” Soros wrote in The Wall Street Journal. “I will invest in startups, established companies, social-impact initiatives and businesses founded by migrants and refugees themselves. Although my main concern is to help migrants and refugees arriving in Europe, I will be looking for good investment ideas that will benefit migrants all over the world.”

“We will also work closely with organizations such as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Rescue Committee to establish principles to guide our investments,” he added.

The New York Times reported on Oct. 31 that “Mr. Soros is being heatedly, if implausibly, cast as the financier of the immigrant caravan, a deep-state presence in the federal bureaucracy and the hidden hand behind the protests against Mr. Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.”

Ron Paul Rages: Censorship & Gun Control Will Not Make Us Safe

Sadly, but not unexpectedly, the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh is being used to justify new infringements on liberty. Of course, opponents of gun rights are claiming this shooting proves America needs more gun control. Even some who normally oppose gun control say the government needs to do more to keep guns out of the hands of the “mentally ill.” Those making this argument ignore the lack of evidence that background checks, new restrictions on the rights of those alleged to have a mental illness, or any other form of gun control would have prevented the shooter from obtaining a firearm.

Others are using the shooter’s history of posting anti-Semitic comments on social media to call for increased efforts by both government and social media websites to suppress “hate speech.” The shooter posted anti-Semitic statements on the social media site Gab. Gab, unlike Twitter and Facebook, does not block or ban users for offensive comments. After the shooting Gab was suspended by its internet service provider, and PayPal has closed the site’s account. This is an effort to make social media websites responsible for the content and even the actions of their users, turning the sites’ operators into thought police.

Some State Officials Want to Adopt Bernie-Style Health Care. Here’s What It Would Cost.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has not let up in his push for single-payer health care—and some state legislators are matching his proposal.

Earlier this year, Sanders introduced a big and comprehensive “Medicare for All” proposal that would create a government-controlled health care system at the national level. The plan has gained momentum among Senate Democrats, but has also slammed into a fiscal reality check.

Three independent estimates from a diverse range of health care economists and policy analysts have highlighted the enormous additional cost of Sanders’ proposal. The liberal Urban Institute estimated that the 10-year costs would amount to a stunning $32 trillion, while the conservative Mercatus Center at George Mason University put the cost at $32.6 trillion.

Professor Kenneth Thorpe of Emory University, a former adviser to President Bill Clinton, used a different set of assumptions and set the 10-year price tag at$24.7 trillion.

Charles Blahous of the Mercatus Center said his own $32.6 trillion estimate made generous concessions for the purposes of calculation, and he accepted Sanders’ assumptions that the proposal would also generate savings, such as massive payment reductions to doctors and other medical professionals.

Blahous added that more realistic assumptions underlying estimates of the Sanders legislation would likely push the total taxpayer price tag even higher than $32.6 trillion.
