Why women check social media more than men

WASHINGTON — If you’re a social media holdout, you are an increasingly rare breed.

D.C.-based business news and how-to website The Manifest says 86 percent of Americans now use social media every day. Women are more likely than men to check in repeatedly throughout the day.

“This is definitely generally speaking and it is not true for all women or all men, but women tend to be more communicative in general, so it makes sense that they are on social media more often,” Kristen Herhold at The Manifest told WTOP.

“I know for me, I am always checking Instagram to see what my friends are up to, versus my boyfriend who goes on social media much less often, and it comes down to I have a lot more friends who are posting more often so there is more for me to see,” she said.

Avenatti's bad day: Evicted from office, ordered to pay $4.85M to former employee

Porn star lawyer Michael Avenatti suffered two court losses on Monday, including one that saw a judge order him to pay $4.85 million to a former lawyer who argued he was underpaid.

Shortly after that ruling from a California judge, another judge ruled that Avenatti and his staff must be evicted from their suite office at Fashion Island mall after they missed four months worth of rent payments.

In the first case, Superior Court Judge Dennis Landin said Avenatti had to personally pay the $4.85 million because he guaranteed a settlement with former employee, Jason Frank, the Associated Press reported.

We Went to a Trump Rally. Here’s the Stories Nobody Tells.

This week, The Daily Signal presents a special edition of “On the Street.” We traveled to Lebanon, Ohio, to attend a rally featuring President Donald Trump. While we were there, we talked with everyday Americans about the issues that matter and which of Trump’s accomplishments are most important to them.

“I like how he shows his faith,” one attendee told us. “I haven’t seen that in a leader in a very long time, but I love how he shows his faith and his love for God and his love for country.”

“He’s doing what he said he was going to do,” another supporter said. “Regardless, he’s trying to drain the swamp and that’s important. One thing he did, probably by getting elected, he showed us just how corrupt Washington was. I don’t think we knew that.”

We took our cameras “On the Street” to the Trump rally to find out this and more. Watch the whole video above.

100,000 Texans Camp Out 24 Hours Before Trump-Cruz Rally in Houston

President Donald Trump’s supporters began lining up and camping out 24 hours before Monday’s rally in Houston, Texas, which has received at least 100,000 signups for the 18,000-person venue.

Television crews arrived around 4:00 a.m. local time Monday outside of the venue where President Trump will speak Monday night. The Fox News reporter stated they had seen the line grow throughout the hours:

The television cameras could not fit the whole line in their view.

Officials told Fox News that 100,000 people have signed up for the rally where President Donald Trump will speak Monday night. The Toyota Center, the venue for the rally, has a capacity of 18,000. The reporter said those lining up were doing so in part to make sure “they could have as close a chance to get to President Trump as possible.”

REPORT: UN, SOROS BEHIND MIGRANT CARAVAN INVASION

This is how globalists plan to collapse Western civilization

A note from Alex Jones: This is 21st century warfare being carried out by multinational corporations and NGOs, organizing around the United Nations and quarterbacked by Soros-affiliated groups. It’s meant to break the will of the nation-state by opening up large migration routes from the third-world into the first-world as part of a neo-colonialism system. The multinational banks, NGOs and corporations want to use third-world populations as a tool to colonize the first world with third-world labor to drive down wages and create political instability which they can then control.

Third-world populations are exploding and are under increasing pressure by globalist forces. The developing world is in a pressure-cooker type scenario, and the UN and affiliated globalist groups are now “westernizing” these populations and turning them into political battering rams in an attempt to make the first-world, the western world, submit to multinational, corporate demands. This is 21st century warfare, and the nation will collapse by capitulating to it. It’s why Democrats are openly calling for no borders and the abolishment of ICE while orchestrating the very migrant hordes to invade using migration routes. This is an attack from the outside and treason from within.

The UN and billionaire globalist George Soros are the driving forces behind the massive migrant caravan marching to the U.S. southern border, according to reports.

As with the previous caravan that sprung up last spring, the open borders group Pueblo Sin Fronteras, which is connected to Soros’ Open Society Foundation, is involved with organizing the caravan of 4,000, and the leader of the group was arrested Thursday for attacking Mexican immigration agents.

The UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees has intervened in the situation to aid in the migrants’ travels.

“We’re in discussions. UNHCR is talking to the government to see how we can best help them,” said Sibylla Brodzinsky, a UN spokesperson. “This is just starting. Talks are happening.”

Savings - Not Tariffs - Will Make America Great Again

Glitches on the Road to MAGA

While the farcical Kavanaugh confirmation hearings dominated the news cycle for the past couple of weeks, little mention was made of a disturbing economic headline – the August US trade deficit. Despite all the bluster from the Trump Administration about “winning trade wars” and “trade wars are easy”, America’s trade imbalances for August were the highest ever and its deficit with its most contentious partner – China – reached an all-time high.

Bi-directional trade bazooka [PT]

Some highlights, or low lights, for the Trump Administration and the clueless economic nationalists were:

August imports of industrial supplies and materials ($49.7 billion) were the highest since December 2014 ($51.8 billion).

August imports of automobile vehicles, parts, and engines ($31.7 billion) were the highest on record.

August imports of other goods ($9.1 billion) were the highest on record.

August petroleum imports ($20.5 billion) were the highest since December 2014 ($23.6 billion).*

The Liberal Mob Must Be Stopped in November

Something has happened to the Democratic Party, something dramatic and awful. It wasn’t that long ago that the Democratic Party liked the United States, and its members weren’t afraid to say it. Now saying positive things about the country will get you run out of the party and possibly attacked by a mob. Their media minions will cheer it all. And, if things go as expected next month, these people could retake the House of Representatives. These people in power should scare everyone.

There is nothing they won’t do to win, no lie they won’t tell, and no norm they won’t obliterate. The last few days alone provided us with many examples to demonstrate this very thing.

This week saw liberals obsessed with the disappearance, and now we know murder, of Jamal Khashoggi. The obsession was not over how he was killed, despotic governments kill their citizens all the time and no one bats an eye, it was a combination of two things – his job and the opportunity to attack President Trump.

Khashoggi was billed as a journalist, but he was more of a columnist. Either way, if he had any other job you never would have heard his name. But journalists love stories about journalism the way Hollywood loves movies about the movie business. Add in the ability to blame his murder on the President’s criticism and you’ve got the perfect media storm. And Democrats were more than happy to jump on board.

First, let me just say that I don’t care. I know you’re not supposed to say this, but I’m not interested in lying to you. It’s sad that a man was murdered, but it happens all the time. No one’s profession makes them special. He wasn’t an American and it wasn’t in this country, so I don’t care.

No More Hope for Democrats

Over the next several weeks, Americans will be going to the polls in the most eagerly anticipated and consequential mid-term election in our nation’s history. Voters will decide whether to continue the President’s agenda which includes cutting regulations and taxes, boosting our military, renegotiating our trade deals, and focusing on border security.

This agenda has produced incredible economic results in less than two years. This week, the World Economic Forum rated the United States as the most competitive economy among the 140 countries ranked. This is the first time since 2008 that the United States has topped this important list. This report follows an amazing list of positive economic indicators in recent weeks. The United States is enjoying an incredibly low unemployment rate, robust economic growth, and stellar consumer and small business confidence. It is a great time to be living in our country.

In a usual election, the party responsible for such good economic times would have a tremendous lead in the polls. Unfortunately, in our country today, the Democrats are leading in generic congressional surveys and most pollsters predict a “blue wave” on November 6. According to the so-called experts, the real question is not whether the Democrats will win the mid-term elections, but what will be their margin of victory?

Gallup Confuses Terms in Poll Showing High Opposition to Assault Weapons Ban

57% still oppose new ban on AR-15s despite Gallup’s mixed use of terms

A new poll shows opposition to a ban on so-called assault weapons is near an all-time high despite the confused terminology it used.

The Gallup poll of 1,019 adults, conducted between October 1 and 10, found 57 percent of respondents opposed to banning semiautomatic guns that a number of states define as "assault weapons." Opposition to such a ban increased by 6 points since Gallup last asked about it a year ago. Forty percent said they support a ban.

The numbers are nearly the exact opposite from when Gallup first asked the question in 1996 when 57 percent indicated support while 42 percent indicated opposition. Opposition to a ban was at its highest in 2016 when 61 percent said they opposed it and 36 percent said they supported it.

The partisan divide is prevalent in the results with 56 percent of Democrats supporting a ban, support from independents at 38 percent, and only 25 percent of Republicans. There was also a clear divide between gun owners and nonowners. Forty-six percent of households without firearms support a ban while only 33 percent of those with a gun do.

Court Docs: Obama Admin Targeting of Businesses Ran to Top of FDIC

New court filings document the extent to which the Obama administration used government power to target disfavored industries, and subsequently sought to avoid responsibility for its targeting program.

The new information comes from a motion for summary judgement filed in federal court by the plaintiffs in Advance America et al. v. Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. et al.

Advance America, a payday lender, was one of the firms targeted by Operation Choke Point. The company contends—and the documents it filed show—that the FDIC was consciously working to target a totally legal industry, and also at a number of points to deny its involvement in the same work.

Choke Point was an initiative under which the Obama administration tried to shut down disfavored industries by removing their access to payment processing and other banking services, thereby cutting off their financial "oxygen." They did so by applying pressure to third-party banks through the FDIC and other federal financial regulators. Targeted businesses were almost all entirely legal, and included ammunition sales, online gambling, and payday loans.

The FDIC has repeatedly denied that it specifically targeted payday lenders. FDIC chairman Martin Gruenberg told Congress in written testimony that targeting payday lenders was "not consistent with our policy," and claimed that the corporation had taken "a number of significant steps" to discourage targeting firms that were otherwise operating within the law.

However, the new court filings tell a completely different story.

Biden: If Dems Win Congress, More Republicans Will ‘Vote Their Conscience’ Against Trump

Former Vice President Joe Biden predicted on Saturday that if Democrats take back Congress, there will be plenty of Republicans in the House and Senate who will join Democrats and vote “their conscience” against President Donald Trump.

At a Las Vegas, Nevada, campaign rally for Senate candidate Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Biden said “this election is bigger than politics” and Democrats have to take back Congress so Trump does not abuse his power. Biden added that voters, regardless of how old or young they are, “never have participated in an election that is as consequential as this election.”

“That’s why we gotta win,” Biden said, insisting that some Republicans in Congress are ready to join Democrats to vote against Trump and his agenda.

Four Arrested in Overnight Robberies in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 22, 2018): Ocean City police investigated two armed robberies overnight before quickly locating and arresting four suspects.

On Sunday, October 21, 2018, Ocean City police were dispatched to a hotel in the area of 37th Street at about 7:48 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a patron, stated that one suspect held him at gunpoint while the other removed items from his pockets.

A short time later, police were dispatched to a convenience store in the area of 94th Street at about 8:27 p.m. for a report of a second armed robbery. Upon entering the store, two suspects displayed a handgun and stole an undetermined amount of U.S. currency from the cash register.

While officers were still on the scene of the convenience store incident, four individuals matching the description of the suspects were located at a restaurant in the area of 62nd Street. Officers responded and detained three members of the group as they were exiting the restaurant. A fourth male, later identified as Adrian W. Matthews, 21, of Seaford, DE, fled prior to police arrival but was located nearby approximately 20 minutes later. The additional three suspects were identified as Kevone Bunting, 19, of Georgetown, DE, Kiya M. Conner, 20, of Salisbury, MD, and Brittney M. Taylor, 19, of Salisbury, MD.

Through investigation, it was determined the suspects were responsible for committing both robberies and were each placed under arrest. Police later recovered the gun nearby and it was determined to be a BB gun.

Each of the four suspects have been charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, and two counts of theft of $100 to $1,500. They are currently being held at the Ocean City Public Safety Building awaiting an initial appearance before a Maryland District Court Commissioner.

Cory Booker accused of sexual assault ... by a man?

Sen. Spartacus Booker of New Jersey is shaping to be quite a piece of work.

After grandstanding through the Senate confirmation hearings about the evils of sexual harassment as he sat there in high-eyed judgment on the blameless Judge Brett Kavanaugh, calling himself 'Spartacus' for his feigned moral courage, he found himself exposed as a hypocrite as word of his 1992 first-person essay about how he sexually harassing a woman made its way back to print, in that Internet-is-forever reality.

Not much moral authority over Kavanaugh, pal.

Now it's gotten even worse: Some man has come out and said Booker sexually assaulted him, in 2014.

Trump Mocks Small Crowds for 'Creepy Joe Biden' at Competing Rally

President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden both campaigned in Nevada on Saturday, but it was clear that Trump bested the former vice president in crowd size.

“By the way, Joe Biden is in Las Vegas,” Trump said, during a rally in Elko, Nevada. “Sleepy Joe Biden, we call him ‘One Percent Joe.'”

Trump noted that despite repeatedly running for president, Biden never got more than one percent support in the polls.

When Trump asked supporters which nickname they preferred, one woman in the crowd shouted “Creepy Joe!”

“She said ‘Creepy Joe,'” Trump said, pointing her out in the crowd. “No, I would never do that, I would never insult him like that.” The “Creepy Joe Biden” nickname grew among Trump supporters, based off of pictures of the former Vice President’s habitual holding and touching women and girls during political events.

Trump said that Biden only had 193 people at his campaign rally in Las Vegas.

“We love Elko, but in all fairness, it’s easier to draw a crowd in Las Vegas,” Trump said.

Trump claimed there were 6-7,000 people who couldn’t get into his rally in Elko.

Trump administration considering narrowing legal definition of gender: report

The Trump administration is weighing a change that would require individuals to identify as male or female based on their genitalia at birth, tightening gender definitions that had offered more leeway to transgender and gender nonconforming individuals, The New York Times reported Sunday.

The Department of Health and Human Services proposed in a memo obtained by the news outlet that government agencies adopt a definition of gender that is determined "on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable."

The change would would base sex on the genitals a person is born with.

Here’s why Hillary Clinton losing her security clearance matters for the rest of us

Hillary Clinton no longer has a security clearance. A letter released from the Department of State to Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, says she lost her clearance on August 30 at her request. The State Department also withdrew security clearances from five people Clinton had previously requested clearances for, as she had designated them “researchers.” One was Cheryl Mills, who was once the deputy White House counsel for President Bill Clinton who defended him during his 1999 impeachment trial. The names of the others were redacted.

The mainstream media is treating the loss of these clearances as a move by Clinton to avoid a political snub by the Trump administration.

Treating this security issue in such a purely political manner misses a growing problem that the media is purposely trying to ignore, as an honest analysis of it doesn’t help their attacks on the current administration.

Hillary Clinton should have lost her clearance back when the government found out she had classified information on her private servers. Actually, they should have done this even before that; she should have lost her security clearance when she left her public position, as secretary of state, for her private quest to get the nation’s top job.

What other employer allows former employees to access their networks? Companies commonly terminate employees email accounts and access before they even tell them they’ve been let go.

But this isn’t some private company. This is our federal government, an unfathomably large bureaucracy that has a lot of our personal information, top-secret data and so much more in its hands.

Tomahawk Warren's Native American Heritage Claim Got Scalped...And Liberal America Doesn't Know What To Do

Tomahawk Liz is not a Cherokee. It’s only something that everyone who wasn’t a blind and stupid liberal had known for years. She’s just a white woman appropriating Native American culture for personal gain. She took a DNA test, which showed that she’s a whopping 1/1024th Native American. In other words, she’s not an American Indian, despite her shoddy family story about high cheekbones. She’s a fake who peddled a racial hoax, something that’s been hanging around her neck since 2012.

Fordham pushed that Warren was the institution’s first woman of color. Harvard also said Warren was a Native American. This is indefensible, but the liberal media decided to take the 1/1024th fraction as full-blown proof that Warren was telling the truth and not peddling a racial hoax, which is what it looks like. The Media Research Center’s NewsBusters wing had a field day, noting how major networks, contributors, and guests across the liberal media spectrum did their best to defend a white person of cultural appropriation.

Longtime Clinton Adviser on Clinton Running Again: 'It’s Somewhere Between Highly Unlikely and Zero, But It’s Not Zero'

Longtime Hillary Clinton adviser Phillip Reines says the chances of Clinton running for president in 2020 are "not zero."

"It’s somewhere between highly unlikely and zero," Reines told Politico in an article published Friday. "But it’s not zero."

Reines was an adviser to Clinton's 2016 campaign and played the role of then-candidate Donald Trump during mock debates. Since Clinton's stunning defeat, Reines has continued to talk up his former boss and believes she should be included in the discussion as a possible 2020 candidate.

"It’s curious why Hillary Clinton’s name isn’t in the mix—either conversationally or in formal polling—as a 2020 candidate," Reines said. "She’s younger than Donald Trump by a year. She’s younger than Joe Biden by four years. Is it that she’s run before? This would be Bernie Sanders’ second time, and Biden’s third time. Is it lack of support? She had 65 million people vote for her."

He added that if Clinton lost half of the people who voted for her, she would still have a bigger base of support than Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) or Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.).

The Surprising Humility of Donald Trump

No one is better at deprecating President Trump than President Trump — just askhim. And yet for all the boasting and braggadocio, the man who never saw a building he didn’t want to slap his name on has lately exposed a surprising humble streak. Earlier this month during the Kavanaugh confirmation circus, Trump answered a reporter’s question about alcohol by explaining, “I can honestly say I’ve never had a beer in my life. It’s one of my only good traits.” As the reporters laughed, he asked, “Can you imagine if I had, what a mess I’d be? I’d be the world’s worst.” The exchange revealed a frank self-assessment from the greatest self-promoter of his age.

Last week, in an Oval Office meeting following the release of American pastor Andrew Brunson from a Turkish prison, Brunson told Trump, “We would like to pray for you. We pray for you often as a family. My wife and I pray for you.” Trumpresponded, “Well, I need it probably more than anybody in this room. So I would — that would be very nice. Thank you.” Trump’s fear and trembling before the Almighty stood in stark contrast to the self-adulation of Barack Obama, who once defined sin as “being out of alignment with my values.”

These candid remarks and others speak to the surprising humility of President Trump, who may brag about his achievements but at least has never claimed the power to calm the seas and heal the planet. While Barack Obama described his campaign in messianic terms —“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for!”, “Yes we can!”— President Trump puts it plainly as a value proposition. “Let’s say we have a really bad time in three weeks from now [in the midterm elections]. Your 401Ks are going to go down tremendously. People are going to lose wealth. If they don’t go out and vote then they have themselves to blame.”

FBI Admits It Used Multiple Spies To Infiltrate Trump Campaign

The Department of Justice admitted in a Friday court filing that the FBI used more than one "Confidential Human Source," (also known as informants, or spies) to infiltrate the Trump campaign through former adviser Carter Page, reports the Daily Caller.

“The FBI has protected information that would identify the identities of other confidential sources who provided information or intelligence to the FBI” as well as “information provided by those sources,” wrote David M. Hardy, the head of the FBI’s Record/Information Dissemination Section (RIDS), in court papers submitted Friday.

Hardy and Department of Justice (DOJ) attorneys submitted the filings in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit for the FBI’s four applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against Page. The DOJ released heavily redacted copies of the four FISA warrant applications on June 20, but USA Today reporter Brad Heath has sued for full copies of the documents. -Daily Caller

Included in Hardy's declaration is an acknowledgement that the FBI's spies were in addition to the UK's Christopher Steele - a former MI6 operative who assembled the controversial and largely unproven "Steel Dossier" which the DOJ/FBI used to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on Page.

Michigan Congressman Mike Bishop shows that his competitor Slotkin was sent to Michigan to run against him. She never owned property in Michigan, never paid taxes in Michigan and never voted in Michigan until the primary where she voted for herself.

'Halloween' Billboard Hijacked to Target Maxine Waters

Sabo, a conservative street artist, replaced a photo of killer Michael Myers with one of the congresswoman.

A billboard advertising the new Halloween movie opening Friday was altered after a street artist swapped out an image of serial killer Michael Myers and replaced it with one of Maxine Waters.

The gigantic billboard at Pico Boulevard in West Hollywood remains intact, only the congresswoman is now holding the sharp butcher knife in her right hand, looking ready to plunge it into an unsuspecting victim. The phrase "#Uncivil Democrats" has also been added.

Blumhouse and Universal are advertising the sequel to the 1978 classic slasher movie of the same title on several billboards in and around Hollywood, though in the dead of night a conservative artist known as Sabo hijacked one of them.

Schumer: ‘There Is Too Much Political Correctness in This Country’

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) said Friday there is too much "political correctness" in the United States these days, although he tagged both sides of the aisle as being to blame.

Appearing on "Morning Joe" with Schumer to discuss the midterms, MSNBC host Steve Kornacki pointed out data analysis showing general Republican vulnerability with independent voters except in one area: "PC culture."

"They really detest PC culture, political correctness culture, and maybe they sense that the Democratic Party and liberals in general … don't see it that way," Kornacki said. "Is there too much political correctness in this country?"

A Democratic House majority could be dangerous for our country – here’s why

With the Nov. 6 midterm elections in sight, the message of U.S. House Republicans to voters has been consistent. GOP candidates are touting their pro-growth policies that have led to our nation’s strong economy and increased paychecks for millions. They are contrasting that with the increased chaos and disorder that a Democratic-controlled House would bring.

To make that contrast clear, Republicans have explicitly pointed out that should Democrats take control of the House they will reinstall Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., as speaker. That would allow her to pursue a far-left agenda that would stunt the aforementioned positive developments.

What gets less attention is the fact that not only would Pelosi be leading the House, but she’s saidher chief lieutenants would replace GOP leaders atop some of the most important congressional committees. These individuals would have wide latitude to make decisions and impact policy in stark opposition to how Republican committee chairs have operated.

For example, currently at the helm of the House Armed Services Committee is Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas. He has been a champion for America’s military by giving our troops their largest pay raise since 2010 and making the most significant investment in our armed forces in a decade-and-a-half.

AZ Democrat Slams Stay-At-Home Moms: They're Nothing But Leeches

Arizona is trending blue. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) squeaked by in 2012, but he’s opting not to run for re-election due to abysmal approval numbers. It’s now Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Congresswoman Martha McSally duking it out to replace him. The race has been tight, though the vicious battle over Brett Kavanaugh and his Supreme Court nomination seems to have generated a surge of support for McSally who is leading by a solid six-points. It could be an outlier, but the bad news hitting the Sinema campaign has been pervasive in the final weeks. She stretched the truth about her upbringing, she called Arizona the crazy state, she said it was a meth lab of Democracy; she tried to summon witches to protest the Iraq War. It’s a mess. Now, she’s going after stay-at-home moms for “leeching off their husbands.” Bre Payton at The Federalist has more:
