A 31-year-old lieutenant in the Saudi Royal Air Force said to have participated in the killing of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi died in a "suspicious car accident" in Riyadh, according to Turkish media.
Mashal Saad al-Bostani was reportedly on a 15-man hit squad dispatched to Saudi Arabia's Istanbul Consulate in Turkey on October 2 during Khashoggi's visit, before the team quickly left the country, according to daily Yeni Şafak.
Albostani entered Turkey at 1:45 a.m. local time (2245GMT). He stayed at the Wyndham Grand Hotel and left the country at 9:46 p.m. local time (1846GMT) on a private jet which belonged to the Sky Prime Aviation company. -Yeni Şafak
Bostani's alleged role in the murder of the Saudi journalist are unclear, as are details of the traffic accident in Riyadh - prompting accusations of a cover up by those who orchestrated the Khashoggi hit. Meanwhile, a columnist for Turkey's Daily Hürriyet wrote on Thursday that Mohammad al Otaibi, Saudi Arabia's Istanbul consul-general, would be "the next execution."
Turkish daily Yeni Şafak reported Oct. 17 that Al-Otaibi’s voice could be heard in one of the recordings, which Turkish authorities are believed to have, of Khashoggi’s “interrogation” at the consulate.
According to the report, after Al-Otaibi told the interrogators to “do it somewhere else outside or I will be in trouble,” he was told to “shut up if you want to live when you are back in Saudi Arabia.”
Al-Otaibi returned to Saudi Arabia on Oct. 16 before his residence in Istanbul was searched by police for more than eight hours on Oct. 17 and Oct. 18. -Daily Hürriyet

K-12: Why So Little for the Mind?
Many critics say our public schools are a train wreck. In Charlotte Iserbyt's memorable phrase, we are all victims of "the deliberate dumbing down of America." Is there any escape? Perhaps, but only if we're candid about what has been done to us throughout the past century.
Here's how bad things are now. Camille Paglia, popular professor and author, declares: "What has happened is these young people now getting to college have no sense of history – of any kind! No sense of history. No world geography. No sense of the violence and the barbarities of history. So, they think that the whole world has always been like this, a kind of nice, comfortable world where you can go to the store and get orange juice and milk, and you can turn on the water and the hot water comes out. ... They know nothing!"
Professor Patrick Deneen at Notre Dame says, "My students are know-nothings. ... Their brains are largely empty. ... They are the culmination of western civilization, a civilization that has forgotten nearly everything about itself, and as a result, has achieved near-perfect indifference to its own culture."

Here's How Much Red Tape Trump Has Cut
The Trump administration on Wednesday reported $23 billion in savings from 176 deregulatory actions in fiscal year 2018. Even more consequential, the administration has issued 65 percent fewer “significant” rules—those with costs that exceed $100 million a year—than the Obama administration, and 51 percent fewer than the Bush administration, after 22 months in office.
The regulatory accounting coincides with the release of the Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions, which outlines the rulemaking plans for federal agencies in the coming fiscal year.
In her introduction to the new agenda, Neomi Rao, administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, said, “[I]n modern times, the expansion of the administrative state has placed undue burdens on the public, impeding economic growth, technological innovation, and consumer choice. … Our reform efforts emphasize the rule of law, respect for the Constitution’s separation of powers, and the limits of agency authority.”

Federal Judge "Shocked" To Find Obama State Dept Lied To Protect Hillary From Email Server Lawsuits
The noose appears to be tightening further around the law-less behaviors of the Obama administration in their frantic efforts to protect former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from lawsuits seeking information about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server and her handling of the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
As Fox News reports, the transparency group Judicial Watch initially sued the State Department in 2014, seeking information about the response to the Benghazi attack after the government didn't respond to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. Other parallel lawsuits by Judicial Watch are probing issues like Clinton's server, whose existence was revealed during the course of the litigation.
The State Department had immediately moved to dismiss Judicial Watch's first lawsuit, but U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth (who was appointed to the bench by President Ronald Reagan) denied the request to dismiss the lawsuit at the time, and on Friday, he said he was happy he did, charging that State Department officials had intentionally misled him because other key documents, including those on Clinton's email server, had not in fact been produced.

Ex-Virginia teacher to plead guilty in nude photo hacking scheme
A former Virginia high school teacher will plead guilty in a hacking scheme that allowed him to obtain nude photographs and other private information from more than 200 people.
Investigators say Christopher Brannan unlawfully accessed the internet history and email accounts of celebrities, students, fellow teachers and his own sister-in-law while he was working at Lee-Davis High School in Richmond from August 2013 to June 2015.
Brannan was fired after FBI investigators alerted school officials of the alleged hacking scheme.
Court documents indicate Brannan has agreed to plead guilty to charges of aggravated identity theft and unauthorized access to a protected computer at a hearing Monday.

Employer of Veterans Wins Fight With Union Over Worker Rights
MADISON, Wisconsin—A small businessman who employs fellow veterans fought back against big labor and won.
Scott Flaugher’s win in court eventually could be a victory for the freedom of workers and the right to work movement nationwide.
Flaugher, owner of Colgate-based Veterans Electric, in large part prevailed in a lawsuit against the electrical contractor brought by administrators of various trust funds for union employees of his company.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District in Milwaukee, was part of a union harassment and intimidation campaign against Veterans Electric and its nonunion employees, Flaugher says.

911 was a bank heist
As we explain in Splitting Pennies and Splitting Bits - the world is not as it seems.
If we can source this untold story even from the JYT then you know it must be real:
A team of 30 firefighters and police officers are helping to move the metals, a task that can be measured practically down to the flake but that has been rounded off at 379,036 ounces of gold and 29,942,619 ounces of silver. As layers of debris are peeled away, recovery workers are opening gangways to intact portions of a 16-acre basement that was largely unseen but was a place of spectacular scope in its own right. Just the basement area of the World Trade Center enclosed twice as much space as the entire Empire State Building. Nearly a quarter of a mile below the spectacular vistas from the towers was their upside-down attic dropping 70 feet below the ground, a strange world with enough room for fortunes in gold and silver, for Godiva chocolates, assault weapons, old furniture, bricks of cocaine, phony taxicabs and Central Intelligence Agency files. With so many people still lost, the owners of this stuff have maintained a discreet silence during the recovery operations. But that doesn't mean they're not interested.
So let's repeat this. Cocaine, guns, gold, silver, and secret CIA files - all stored underground in the WTC complex and all went missing? How convenient!
You can't make this stuff up folks. Growing up in the 90's you can't miss Hollywood films like Die Hard with a Vengeance. But who would have even suggested, that only 6 years later, an eerily similar plot would unfold in Lower Manhattan, shaping the world forever?
Going with the bank heist angle, we have to consider what any good heist needs: a security guard on the take. In this case, one would not need to be an FBI agent to connect the dots here, as the security contract for the WTC complex was none other than Marvin Bush, the President's younger brother.
If you were in the USA after 9/11 you also remember not only the shock after this heinous event, but the travel ban. It was a mess. You were stuck where you were, and it really took weeks for things to get back to normal, but they really never did.
More strange facts, there was an unusual physical delivery by the Comex for that morning:
According to a Nov. 1, 2001 article in The London Times: “The Comex metals trading division of the New York Mercantile Exchange kept 3,800 gold bars—weighing 12 tons and worth more than $100 million—in vaults in the building’s [apparently Building 5—Ed.] basement. Comex also held almost 800,000 ounces of gold there on behalf of others with a value of about $220 million. It also held more than 102 million ounces of silver, worth [an estimated] $430 million.” The Times piece also reported that some of the recovered gold may have been found outside this vault. “The gold, which was discovered . . . was being transported through the basement of the building on the morning of Sept. 11,” reads the article. “Recovery workers reached a service tunnel and discovered a 10-wheel [truck] and a number of cars [that] had been crushed by falling steel.”

Right Side of History: Why We Need More Pro-American Books and Movies
“The Right Side of History” is a podcast dedicated to exploring current events through a historical lens and busting left-wing myths about figures and events of America’s past.
On this week’s episode, hosts Jarrett Stepman and Fred Lucas discuss the importance of historical fiction and why it’s a component of America’s soft power. In particular, they talk about how the Westerns of the mid-20th century were a positive reflection of what America was and wanted to be.
Stepman and Lucas were joined by Harry Crocker III, the executive editor of Regnery Publishing, and the author of numerous books, including the recently released “Armstrong.”
“Armstrong” is a fictionalized, pro-American account of the life of George Armstrong Custer as if he had survived the Battle of Little Bighorn. Crocker explains why Custer should get more respect as an American hero, and why recent efforts to destroy history are so dangerous.
Stepman is currently writing a book for Regnery about the war on history.

Police issue record citations at Endless Summer Cruisin’
Organizers says registered vehicle counts on par with past without major issues
The 21st annual Endless Summer Cruisin’ came and went relatively peacefully last weekend, with Ocean City officials, police and allied law enforcement focused on preserving public safety following a spate of accidents and record arrests during several motor events last October.
Bob Rothermel of TEAM Productions, which has organized Cruisin’ events with Jack Hennen’s Special Event Productions since the shows began in 1978 as the Ocean City Hot Rod and Custom Car Show, said although last week’s approximately 2,300 registered attendees is on par with last October’s gathering, the footprint appeared reduced.
“It felt like there were a lesser amount of cars in town even though our registered numbers were high,” he said.
While the springtime Cruisin’ Ocean is a slightly larger draw with roughly 3,000 participating hot rods annually, Rothermel said last week’s event, regardless of precise attendance, went relatively smoothly as compared to the prior October.
“We felt the number of cars in town for the weekend was significantly less than in prior years,” he said. “The guys that just come to town and run with the pack … there was a lessening of those numbers.”

Slow Joe: ‘There Is No Evidence’ of Widespread Voter Fraud
Thursday on “CBS This Morning,” former Vice President Joe Biden dismissed the notion that voter fraud was a problem in the United States.
Biden told co-host Norah O’Donnell in an interview that efforts to combat voter fraud were nothing more than an attempt to suppress the vote and when asked if he thought there was a “voter suppression” effort underway.
“Absolutely,” he replied. “I don’t know the exact number, but somewhere in the order of 77, in the last couple of years, pieces of legislation have been introduced in state legislatures to restrict the right to vote. We should have automatic registration. We should have it allowing everybody to vote.”
“My generic point is there is no evidence in all of the studies done of widespread voter fraud of that being a central problem in the American electoral process,” Biden added. “It’s just not true.”

Edwin J. Feulner: Why Calls for Violence Must Be Denounced
Of all the voices being raised against the specter of mob rule in this country, few carry more weight than that of Steve Scalise.
That’s because Mr. Scalise, a Republican congressman from Louisiana, knows first-hand what happens when violent words turn into violent action.
In June 2017, he was shot and seriously wounded by a man named James Hodgkinson, who turned up at a practice session for a charity baseball game in Washington, D.C. — and started shooting as players praticed in Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Scalise wound up in intensive care, underwent multiple surgeries and even had to relearn how to walk.
And all because Mr. Hodgkinson, a Bernie Sanders supporter described by his own lawyer as “a very irascible, angry little man,” was so furious over the election of President Trump that he moved to the D.C. area to protest.

Nancy Pelosi: There Will Be 'Collateral Damage' to Those Who Disagree with Us
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told a gathering at the 92nd Street Y in New York on Sunday that there may have to be “collateral damage” to those Americans who do not agree with the Democratic Party agenda.
Pelosi was being interviewed onstage by Paul Krugman, the left-wing New York Timescolumnist and Nobel economic laureate who predicted, the day Donald Trump won the presidency, that Trump would trigger “a global recession, with no end in sight.”
In a long, rambling monologue, during which she stumbled on her words and appeared to lose her train of thought, Pelosi said:

WATCH: Things Get 'Uncivil' When Protesters Greet Pro-Castro Democrat, Pelosi In Miami
A campaign event in Coral Gables that was supposed to star Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Barbara Lee didn't go as planned on Wednesday after protesters converged on the locale to let "Communista" Lee and company know how they felt about the congresswoman praising Fidel Castro.
The Miami Herald's Jimena Tavel documented the "uncivil" encounter (h/t Twitchy). "[Rep. Nancy Pelosi] and [Rep. Barbara Lee] were scheduled to campaign for [Donna Shalala] and [Debbie Mucarsel-Powell] here today. About 25 protesters are standing outside, holding signs supporting Republicans and accusing Democrats of being communists," wrote Tavel.
"The crowd has grown," she posted later. "They’re striking the door to the building where the event will take place. They’re also screaming 'commie' and calling the Democrats 'witches.'"

Subject: ‘You Better Get Your Act Together’: Trump Threatens To Cut Funding To California Over Massive Wildfires
President Donald Trump threatened to restrict funding to California if the state does not improve the way it manages forests to prevent more large wildfires, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Trump made the comments during a cabinet meeting Wednesday. The Trump administration has been critical of California’s “bad environmental laws,” blaming them forexacerbating wildfires.
“I say to the governor, or whoever is going to be the governor of California, you better get your act together,” Trump said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “We’re just not going to continue to pay the kind of money we’re paying because of fires that should never be to the extent.”
“It’s a disgraceful thing. Old trees are sitting there, rotting and dry. And instead of cleaning it up, they don’t touch them,” Trump continued. “I think California ought to get their act together and clean up their forests and manage their forests.”

Limbaugh: GOP Will Hold House, Increase Senate Majority in Midterm
In a preview of an interview that will air Thursday night on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said he does not trust polls and believes the Republicans will keep their majorities in both chambers of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.
When asked for his midterm predictions, Limbaugh said, “We hold the House and we increase the Senate because I think that’s justice. I think that’s just. The Democrat Party deserves to lose in the single biggest electoral landslide defeat in my lifetime because the actions they’ve taken just in the last month.”

Debbie White Dove Porreco, who says she is a descendant of the 17th-century Native American Pocahontas famous for allegedly saving the life of Englishman John Smith, appeared on Fox News Tuesday and called on Warren to “come back and apologize to everybody for what she’s done.”
The interview came a day after the Democratic senator released the results of a DNA test that “strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor in the individual’s pedigree, likely in the range of 6-10 generations ago,” according to Carlos D. Bustamante, a professor at Stanford University, and the author of the report Warren released on her DNA results.
On “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday, Porreco noted that while she was “glad” Warren took a DNA test, “It did prove that she isn’t the Cherokee Indian that she’s been claiming to be for so long.”

Leftist To 9/11 Widow: 'Your Husband Should F--king Rot In The Grave'
A leftist who appeared to be an Antifa protester, verbally accosted a woman during protests over the weekend in Portland, Oregon, telling her that her deceased husband should "rot in the grave."
The incident appears to have happened on Saturday after "a conservative group organized a 'flash march for Law and Order,'" The Washington Post reported.
"Why are you trying to block me?" the man yells at the woman. "I'm f--king trying to walk here."
"Because I obey traffic signals," the woman responded.
"You're a f--king snarky, little f--king idiot," the man shot back. "So shut the f--k up."
"Try somethin, b--ch," the woman responded.
"I'm not, I'm not going to punch you, I'm not like your husband, I'm not going to punch you," the man replied.
"I'm not married," the woman answered.
"I'm not like your boyfriend or your cop boyfriend who is going to f--king knock you out, so don't worry," the man said.
The woman turned around and pointed at her NYPD hat, saying, "My husband died on 9/11."
"Good for him," the man responded. "Good, good. NYPD was a bunch of sodomizers, f--king sodomizing immigrants with their bully sticks."
"So yeah, your husband, should probably f--king rot in the grave."

Henry Kissinger Heckled At NYU, Told To "Rot In Hell"
Multiple protesters heckled former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger on Tuesday while he delivered a speech at New York University's Stern School of Business.
NYU invited Kissinger, who was celebrating the 45th anniversary of receiving his Nobel Peace Prize Award, as part of a series entitled "In Conversation with Lord Mervyn King."
Roughly 100 people gathered to protest Kissinger, according to NYU News. Some held signs calling him a "war criminal" while others shouted “rot in hell” and “hey, Kissinger, what do you say? How many kids have you killed today?”

Texas Dems ask non-citizens to register to vote, application citizenship box pre-checked
The Texas Democrat Party asked non-citizens to register to vote, sending out applications to immigrants with the citizenship box already checked “Yes,” according to new complaints filed Thursday asking prosecutors to see what laws may have been broken.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation alerted district attorneys and the Justice Department to the pre-checked applications, and also included a signed affidavit from a man who said some of his relatives, who aren’t citizens, received the mailing.
“This is how the Texas Democrat Party is inviting foreign influence in an election in a federal election cycle,” said Logan Churchwell, spokesman for the PILF, a group that’s made its mark policing states’ voter registration practices.
The organization sent complaints to Hidalgo and Starr counties in Texas complete with the affidavit and photos of the pre-marked voter applications.
The return address for the mailings was the State Democrat Executive Committee with an address in Austin that matches the state Democrat Party’s headquarters.
The letter is emblazoned with “Urgent! Your voter registration deadline is October 9.” It continues: “Your voter registration application is inside. Complete, sign and return it today!”
On the application, boxes affirming the applicant is both 18 and a U.S. citizen are already checked with an “X” in the Yes field.

Missouri Dems Ban Video After Hidden Camera Captures McCaskill
McCaskill accuses opponent of 'fraudulently embedding somebody' in campaign, no evidence supports claim
Sen. Claire McCaskill's campaign has started to ban recording of its events, an apparent response to behind-the-scenes footage of her campaign released by Project Veritas.
Project Veritas, run by James O'Keefe, began to release the hidden camera footage of McCaskill's campaign early this week. The campaign quickly responded by putting up notices at its events banning individuals who intend to record.
A "recording notice" posted by the entrance of a Wednesday campaign event with volunteers, which can be read in full below, said anyone who enters must "agree to not record" and would be "asked to leave the event" if caught.

Kobach on Welfare: Drug Test for Food Stamps, No Benefits for Illegals
Kansas Secretary of State and GOP nominee for governor Kris Kobach’s populist welfare reform initiative includes mandatory drug testing for food stamp recipients and ending all public benefits for illegal aliens.
On Wednesday, Kobach — endorsed by President Trump — laid out his welfare reform agenda, which includes saving Kansas taxpayer money by requiring able-bodied Medicaid beneficiaries to work no less than 30 hours a week.
The plan will also require drug testing for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — otherwise known as food stamps — recipients and for Medicaid users.

Biden: 'There Is No Evidence' of Widespread Voter Fraud in the American Electoral Process
Biden said voter identification laws were one such example of efforts to suppress the vote.

Law Professor: Warren 'Tried To Rig Her Career' With 'Deceptive' Native American Claim
A Cornell law professor said Wednesday that Sen. Elizabeth Warren tried to use a claim of Native American heritage to gain a professional edge in her career as a law professor.
Bill Jacobson, a professor at Cornell Law School and blogger at Legal Insurrection, said on Tucker Carlson's Fox News show that the Massachusetts Democrat did not claim Indian blood while she was in college or law school.
"She only claimed it when she was in her late 30s and beginning to climb the law professor ladder from the University of Texas to Harvard," Jacobson said. By doing so, she was deemed a "minority law professor," which helped her law professor career.
"Your viewers need to understand how deceptive Elizabeth Warren was. ... This is a woman who built her political narrative claiming other people are rigging the system. She tried to rig her career by claiming a status to which she's not entitled."

‘She Definitely Lost My Vote’
A sexual assault survivor whose privacy was invaded by Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D., N.D.) said Thursday morning she would no longer support the senator’s reelection.
Lexi Zhorela, of Bismarck, North Dakota, appeared on CNN's "New Day" where she spoke about her experience being revealed in a Heitkamp campaign ad as a victim of sexual assault.
The Heitkamp campaign placed the ad in Saturday's Bismarck Tribune, framing it as an open letter to midterm challenger Rep. Kevin Cramer (R., N.D.). It criticized Cramer for supporting Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and it was presented as if it had been written by a list of North Dakotan women who were purportedly victims of "domestic violence, sexual assault, or rape."
Soon after, however, a number of the women came forward to criticize the ad, some denying they were ever contacted. Some denied they were even victims of abuse.

Mexico asks U.N. for help with migrant caravan
Mexico asked the U.N. Thursday for assistance in grappling with the migrant caravan that’s knocking on its border, saying international officials must help figure out who deserves asylum and who should be deported or refused entry.
The request came as hundreds of Mexican police faced off across the Mexico-Guatemala border against the vanguard of the caravan, which has grown to some 4,000 people, mostly from Honduras. Some migrants have reportedly already made it to shelters in Mexico.
Mexican officials are desperately seeking a way to block the migrants after President Trump earlier Thursday threatened to cancel the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade deal he’s working on as punishment for Mexico failing to patrol its own southern border.
He said another option would be to deploy the U.S. military.
“The assault on our country at our Southern Border, including the criminal elements and DRUGS pouring in, is far more important to me, as president, than trade or the USMCA,” he said on Twitter. “Hopefully Mexico will stop this onslaught.”

The Staggering Numbers Behind America's Opioid Epidemic
Drug overdoses are the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 50, who are now more likely to die from a drug overdose than from car accidents or firearms. The United States has the dubious distinction of having the highest percentage of drug-related deaths in the world.
However, while opioid abuse is a nationwide problem, Visual Capitalist's Nick Routley notes that there are specific areas that are being hit harder by this epidemic. Using the location data above, from NORC at the University of Chicago, we can see clusters of counties that have an extremely high rate of overdose deaths. Between 2012 and 2016, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio saw a combined 18,000 deaths related to opioid abuse.

Trump State Department Among Most Diverse in History
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is overseeing one of the most diverse State Departments in history, according to senior administration officials and internal statistics that show the administration has placed a priority on hiring a range of diverse voices for key positions.
Under the Trump administration the State Department and the U.S. diplomatic corps have been reshaped, according to senior administration officials who told the Washington Free Beacon that diversity is a top issue for the secretary.
The number of African American, Hispanic, and female hires in fiscal year 2017 are all higher than previous years, according to hiring information viewed by the Free Beacon that paints a vastly different portrait than that presented in the media in recent months.
While numerous media outlets have sought to portray Trump's State Department as mostly white and male—part of a larger narrative attempting to paint the administration as racist—hiring statistics show that this is not the full story. In many cases, the Trump administration has filled its ranks with a diverse team of voices that senior officials say is set to grow even further in the coming months.

Native Americans, Progressives Fume at Warren Over DNA Test Release
Native Americans and progressives are fuming at Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) over releasing a DNA test showing she could have distant Cherokee ancestry, with many arguing she had done harm to indigenous peoples by blurring the lines around Native identity.
Warren has long been dogged by controversy over listing herself as Native American while teaching law school in the 1980s and 1990s; Harvard and the University of Pennsylvanialisted her as a minority faculty member. She even contributed to a Native American cookbook called "Pow Wow Chow." President Donald Trump mockingly called her "Pocahontas."
Warren finally released a campaign-style video Monday featuring analysis of her DNA test, interviews with family and former colleagues, and her own narration of her life. She triumphantly tweeted Trump owed her $1 million regarding an offer he made about a hypothetical debate where she could prove she's an Indian.
The results drew mockery: At best, she was 1/64th Native American and possibly as little as 1/1,024th, with an ancestor as far as 10 generations back. It also drew anger from some Democrats, who didn't want to be talking about her DNA with the midterms three weeks away.
Now, she's getting significant blowback from Native American groups who say she has done damage to indigenous people and helped perpetuate myths about what constitutes Native American identity.

Democratic Candidate Criticizes Agriculture Industry, Suggests Workers Transition To Renewable Energy Instead
The Democratic nominee in Georgia’s gubernatorial election had to walk back comments that suggested the agriculture and hospitality industries weren’t worth working in.
The controversy began when Stacey Abrams was giving a speech at Georgia Southern University as part of her “We Are Georgia” bus tour.
“I want to create a lot of different jobs because people shouldn’t have to go into agriculture or hospitality to make a living in Georgia. Why not create renewable energy jobs because — I’m going to tell ya’ll a secret — climate change is real,” Abrams said Tuesday at the campaign rally.
Throughout the campaign, Abrams has been a big proponent of solar and wind energy, and has made fighting climate change a part of her campaign platform. The Democratic candidate went on to claim in her Tuesday speech that the state could create 25,000 to 45,000 “good paying” jobs if renewable energy industry is recognized as “not only the future,” but also as “the now.”

What Is The Point of The Washington Post Opinion Section?
Donald Trump doesn't like the media. At least that's what he says publicly. He is obsessed with the media, much like a gambling addict is obsessed with casinos. To the extent that Trump really does hate the media, it's only because the media (apart from Fox News) hates Donald Trump. This is not surprising. The political media is almost universally populated by college graduates residing in Washington, D.C., or New York. It's not his best demographic.
That said, almost every aspect of Trump's relationship with the media is symbiotic. They don't like each other, but they are obsessed with one another, and obsessed with themselves. The media won't stop talking about Trump, so Trump won't stop talking about the media—and vice versa. If you like Trump, you probably don't like the mainstream media—and vice versa. Trump doesn't want the media to stop talking about him, and the media doesn't want Trump to stop talking about the media. He insists on making every news cycle about himself. The media happily obliges, because he rates well and drives traffic.
It's become a little tiresome, to say the least. Sure, it's the media's job to report the news, and Trump is constantly making news, and creating drama, much like a reality show producer who wants to keep the audience hooked. It's less clear why the media finds it necessary to maintain a voluminous stable of pundits and op-ed columnists who contribute very little to the so-called "national discussion" beyond shopworn diatribes against Trump's depravity, and the Republican Party's acquiescence.
Here's one example: The Washington Post opinion section. What, exactly, is the point? It is, perhaps not surprisingly, an endless stream of anti-Trump, anti-GOP tirades—the same familiar argument repeating into oblivion under different bylines. (Scroll down for a sample of the Post‘s opinion output since July.)
Trump is not a popular president, and the average Washington Post reader is unlikely to (un-ironically) own a MAGA hat. Maybe this is what customers demand. After all, the Daily Show thrived by placating a certain liberal subset's lust for affirmation of their moral superiority, especially during the Bush administration. People enjoy content that validates their worldview.

Trump-Cruz rally moving to larger venue
President Donald Trump’s rally in Houston next week with Sen. Ted Cruz and other top Republicans is moving to a larger venue, though it’s still not the biggest stadium in Texas.
Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale tweeted Thursday that the Monday night’s event would now be held at the 19,000-seat Toyota Center, home of the NBA’s Houston Rockets.
It had been scheduled for the 8,000-seat NRG Arena, but Pascale tweeted that ticket demand “has been HUGE and unprecedented!”

Carreon is suspected to have fled the Baltimore area following the issuance of a Maryland state arrest warrant on charges of first-degree rape, second-degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor, first and second-degree assault, and multiple additional sexual offense charges.
After Charlotte deportation officers located and arrested Carreon on immigration charges in Forsyth County, ICE contacted the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and booked Carreon into the Mecklenburg County Detention Center where he is now awaiting extradition back to Maryland to face the criminal charges against him.
“This case is an excellent example of ICE’s ongoing focus to prioritize its immigration enforcement efforts toward unlawfully present foreign nationals who pose a threat to public safety,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Atlanta Field Office Director Sean Gallagher. “Despite attempts by some to confuse the public, ICE does not conduct any type of random or indiscriminate enforcement and the agency’s targeted enforcement efforts make communities safer for all persons whatever their immigration status may be.”
Nationally, approximately 90 percent of all persons arrested by ICE during the first three quarters of FY18 either had a criminal conviction, a pending criminal charge, or were already subject to a removal order issued by a federal immigration judge.
However, as ICE has made clear, the agency will not overlook unlawfully present foreign nationals it encounters while conducting targeted enforcement operations and ICE does not exempt classes or categories of removable aliens from potential enforcement. All of those in violation of the immigration laws may be subject to immigration arrest, detention, and if found removable by final order, removal from the United States.
The Charlotte Fugitive Operations Team encountered and arrested six additional unlawfully present foreign nationals while locating and arresting Carreon; five of these six unlawfully present persons have prior criminal convictions. Four of the six unlawfully present foreign nationals were placed into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts; two of the six already had their day in court and were previously ordered removed from the U.S. by a federal immigration judge. They are presently being processed for removal.

The enraged, man-hating feminism of today has nothing to do with advancing women.
Feminist icon Camille Paglia believes the modern-day feminism recreated by Betty Friedan in the ‘60s hit “a wall of closed minds,” and thus represents the collapse of Western Civilization. She’s right on the mark.
Speaking at the Battle of Ideas festival in London in October 2016, Paglia made it clear how far feminism has fallen from its high-water mark almost a hundred years ago:
“The period of the 1920s, 1930s: that to me is my favorite period in feminism because these women admired what men had done. There was no male bashing as became systemic to Second Wave feminism. It’s an absolute poison that has spread worldwide.”
“A feminism based on denigrating men, trivializing what men have done, defining men as oppressors and tyrants through history it is an absolute lie.”

Two GOP Candidates Assaulted in Minnesota
Attacks come as state Democrats suspend staffer for beheading post
The Minnesota Democratic Party has suspended a spokesman for calling for violence against Republicans even as two GOP candidates have been assaulted in suspected politically motivated attacks.
The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party has suspended communications staffer William Davis for one week without pay after making a Facebook post joking that Democrats would "bring [Republicans] to the guillotine" on Nov. 7, the day after the midterm elections. Minnesota Republican Party chairman Jennifer Carnahan said the suspension was not enough, calling for his immediate firing in the aftermath of separate attacks against Republican candidates. She said she has been subjected to numerous death threats during her tenure as the state party leader and that death threats are no laughing matter.
"The overt hatred and violence that has become prevalent from many Democrats towards Republicans in recent times is unlawful, unacceptable, and downright scary," she said in an email. "Yes, we have free speech and the right to peacefully assemble, but these words and actions by the left have gone too far. … He should have been terminated immediately."
DFL officials did not respond to request for comment.
The suspension came days after Minnesota state representative Sarah Anderson was punched in the arm after spotting a man destroying Republican yard signs. She said the attack left her scared, and her attacker only desisted when she fled to her car and threw it in reverse.
