Women are tilting midterms to Democrats new poll reveals with many saying Trump is deciding factor

Democrats chances of winning the House of Representatives are improving thanks to strong support from women, a new poll revealed, and many of them are naming President Donald Trump as the deciding factor in their vote.

Female voters are proving to be the under lying foundation behind the party's strong chances of victory in November.

A plurality of women, in a new CBS News poll, revealed they are checking the Democrats' box at the ballot this fall with 46 percent saying they will go Democratic while 34 percent are supporting Republicans and 16 percent were not sure.

Dan Gainor: Summertime and the media are embarrassing -- from hating America to loving Antifa

August is a time when Washington shuts down for summer recess. The left and the media should have taken the hint. Instead, they stayed and made fools of themselves.

In the space of one week, the press downplayed a Democrat governor saying America “was never that great” and watched as the governor’s brother/CNN anchor defended Antifa. Another CNN commentator bashed America and mocked a conservative while she told of the discrimination her disabled son faced. And former CIA director John Brennan, now an NBC national security analyst, recanted his claim that President Donald Trump committed treason and spent the week whining about losing his security clearance.

Let’s take the Cuomo family, first. (Or just take the Cuomo family, please.) Brothers Andrew and Chris humiliated themselves in separate incidents this past week — showing their mutual contempt for America and the Constitution and highlighting everything that is wrong with journalism all at the same time.

Andrew the-liberal-New-York governor Cuomo, shocked no one when he admitted something conservatives knew all along — that the left hates America. “We are not going to make America great again,” he said during a speech. “It was never that great.”

Of course, the broadcast networks downplayed it, stalling before they covered the remark and giving the disastrous comment barely more than one minute total acrossABC, CBS and NBC. Imagine a top Republican saying something like that and getting almost no coverage. Cuomo later backtracked and called his attack on the U.S.“inartful” which is another way of saying: “I got caught, but stand by what I said.”

The younger Cuomo, apparently, didn’t like being upstaged. Chris the-liberal-CNN-anchor Cuomo, shockingly defended Antifa violence saying, “fighting hate is right.” This is the same attitude as the left’s view that it’s OK to punch a Nazi – except Antifa, and possibly some CNN anchors, view everyone they disagree with as Nazis. Cuomo then argued, “all punches are not equal morally.”

Total Reversal: Cuomo Backtracks, Admits ‘America Has Always Been Great’

NY Gov does 180 on ‘America Never Great’ comment

That was quick! New York Governor Andrew Cuomo retracted his controversial statementmade Wednesday where he said, “We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great.”

“The expression I used the other day was inartful, so I want to be very clear: Of course America is great, and of course America has always been great — no one questions that,” Cuomo now says.

The NY Governor’s spokeswoman also issued a retraction, assuring, “The Governor believes America is great and that her full greatness will be fully realized when every man, woman, and child has full equality. America has not yet reached its maximum potential.”

Before Cuomo’s reversal, President Trump went to Twitter to bash the “really dumb statement.”

Securing the Border Is the Most Humane Policy

Each month, as many as tens of thousands stream across our southern border from Central American countries without obtaining legal status. Thousands are unaccompanied alien children who have completed a perilous journey before even having reached the Rio Grande.

All Americans can agree that this is a problem. Our immigration system is broken.

From the numbers, we know that America is the most generous country in the world. Through our nation’s legal immigration process, we welcome well over a million immigrants—people who follow the correct immigration process and abide by our laws—into America each year.

Despite this generosity, we have a severe problem with illegal immigration. As we consider the ongoing crisis on our southern border, it is fair to ask how we got to this point.

From recent media coverage, many Americans have criticized President Donald Trump’s pursuit of a “zero tolerance” immigration policy. Yet throughout American history, there is significant evidence that this kind of “enforcement first” policy deters people from attempting dangerous journeys to reach American borders.

Let’s look back at the path that has brought us to today’s crisis.

More Than 700,000 Overstayed Visas in 2017

Analysis: Students, African nationals most frequent overstayers

Around 700,000 people overstayed their temporary visas in fiscal year 2017, according to a recently released estimate from the Department of Homeland Security.

Six hundred thousand of these individuals are suspected to have remained in the country, according to DHS, while the other 100,000 or so simply departed after their visas expired. The 700,000 count represents a tiny fraction of the nearly 53 million people admitted to the United States in FY17.

However, it is 300,000 more people than the number apprehended trying to illegally cross the southwestern border for the same year, indicating that visa overstays represent a more serious source of illegal immigration than border crossers.

Visa overstays have been a priority of DHS under Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, who introduced new measures regulating a key visa program last year. Nielsen argued at the time that tightened security for temporary visa holders was a vital tool for combatting terrorism.

"The United States faces an adaptive and agile enemy, as terrorists continue to explore ways to reach our country and to direct, enable, and inspire attacks against us. It's critically important we stay ahead of these threats by improving our security posture," she said.

4 Big Facts About ICE, and What Could Happen If It’s Abolished

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials on Aug. 14 arrested and deported an illegal immigrant who is wanted in El Salvador on murder charges.

Brian Alejandro Martinez reportedly had been arrested and freed several times in New Jersey and New York. ICE officials criticized authorities in Middlesex County, New Jersey, for releasing Martinez without notifying the federal agency.

While Immigration and Customs Enforcement in recent years has had to contend with “sanctuary” policies by cities and counties that protect illegal immigrants, the agency now faces a push by some in Congress to abolish it.

President Donald Trump is scheduled to honor ICE agents Monday at a White House event, even as many congressional Democrats call for restraining or ending the agency that enforces immigration law throughout the nation’s interior.

The Government May Require Almond Milk, Soy Milk to Use Non-Milk Names

If Washington politicians, bureaucrats, and lobbyists have their way, consumers of common nondairy “milks”—such as almond milk and soy milk—may soon have to buy those products under obscure labeling such as “plant juice” and “tree-nut beverage.”

In another unfortunate instance of overcriminalization, after efforts to make it a crime to label nondairy products as “milk” stalled in the Senate, the Food and Drug Administration may now be trying to do through regulatory means what Congress has been unwilling or unable to do through legislation.

That’s an utter shame—pun intended—especially for an administration otherwise committed to sensible deregulation.

Last year, Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., introduced the Defending Against Imitations and Replacements of Yogurt, Milk, and Cheese To Promote Regular Intake of Dairy Everyday Act—the DAIRY PRIDE Act.

DiGenova: If Hillary Won, We Would Know Nothing About FBI Bias, Handling of Dossier

Former federal prosecutor Joe diGenova said that a Hillary Clinton victory in 2016 would have been "extremely detrimental to the rule of law," responding to new revelations about the Trump-Russia dossier.

DiGenova said that if Clinton won, "we would know [nothing]" about the handling of Christopher Steele's dossier and alleged bias within the FBI during the Clinton email probe and Trump-Russia investigation.

According to emails reported last week, former British spy Steele kept in close contact with Justice Department official Bruce Ohr even after the FBI cut ties with Steele as a source.

Ohr's wife, Nellie, worked for Fusion GPS, an opposition research firm hired by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to compile the dossier of potentially damaging information against Trump.

DiGenova alleged a "conspiracy" between Ohr, Steele, James Comey, Sally Yates. John Brennan, Peter Strzok and other officials to exonerate Clinton and if she lost the election, "frame" Trump.

Newt: Democrats have no idea what demons they are unleashing

A few weeks ago, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) wrote an article for Vox explaining the movement’s goals – to end capitalism and radically change America.

In normal times, the declarations of a fringe party and ideology in America would not merit much attention. However, these are not normal times. A new Gallup poll shows that 57 percent of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism – while only 47 percent view capitalism positively.

This pattern has been building for a while. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont took socialism mainstream in the party during the 2016 Democrat presidential primaries. Since then, Democrat Party candidates have been increasingly attaching themselves to the ideology.

Most notably, a telegenic young member of the Democratic Socialists of America named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated a senior Democrat in New York City’s 14th Congressional District and has since been on a whirlwind media tour, spreading the gospel of socialism.

So the Vox article (or manifesto) is worth taking seriously. Reading it, I was struck by how remarkably honest it was.

The writer, Meagan Day, a member of the East Bay Chapter of DSA, explicitly debunks the apologists in the mainstream media trying to paper over the group’s radicalism.

Day quotes several prominent news “analysts” who argue that Democratic Socialism is just New Deal liberalism re-branded.

She then dumps a bucket of cold water on them, writing that “in the long run, Democratic Socialists want to end capitalism.”

Silicon Valley Blacklisting Conservatives ‘with No Recourse, No Appeal, No Discussion’

Robert Spencer, founder and director of Jihad Watch and author of “The History of Jihad: From Muhammad to ISIS,” warned of expanding online left-wing political censorship via large technology companies. He offered his remarks in a Friday interview with Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Today.

Spencer said, “The social media giants, now, have more control over the means of communication than the Soviet Union did in its heyday, or Nazi Germany, and they are pursuing a genuinely totalitarian initiative, and it’s based largely on the work of Southern Poverty Law Center, which is a far-left group trying to demonize all dissent from the leftist agenda by lumping in legitimate conservative voices with groups like the KKK and neo-Nazis. If you end up on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate-group list, then the tech media giants will de-platform you on that basis with no recourse, no appeal, discussion; nothing.”

41,000 Unaccompanied Children Apprehended at Border in Recent Months

Richard Hudson, acting chief of Law Enforcement Operations Directorate with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), said at a hearing on Thursday that, in recent months, agents have apprehended 41,000 children without parents or guardians and encountered as many as a quarter of a million since 2014 at the U.S. border with Mexico.

“Between Oct. 1, 2017, and July 31, 2018, more than 41,000 UACs have been apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol,” Hudson said, noting that 7,000 of those were deemed inadmissible at ports of entry.

“Since 2014, when we saw the first surge of UACs, CBP has encountered nearly 250,000 UAC’s along the southwest border,” Hudson said.

“These children arrive at our border after a difficult and dangerous journey, and many have been subjected to abuse at the hands of human traffickers, criminals, and opportunists,” Hudson said.

“The men and women of CBP treat each of these children with the utmost professionalism and compassion,” Hudson said. “…and work to ensure their welfare while they are in our custody.”

The Best Food for Brain Health

By the year 2020, America will have 14 million people in need of full-time care for Alzheimer's disease.

Anxiety disorders currently are the most common mental illness in the United States, affecting 40 million adults. Millions suffer from "brain fog," a term that is only recently getting attention.

What do these alarming statistics have in common? According to leading functional physician, Dr. Mark Hyman, they can be triggered by poor brain health.

Hyman admits he once suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome and felt like he had dementia, depression, and ADD — all at the same time.

"My brain felt broken," he says. "Although I wouldn't wish this on anyone, I truly believe the experience taught me how to be a better physician and it led me to the world of functional medicine. I finally understand that what we do to our bodies, we do to our brains."

Nearly All Criminal Foreigners in U.S. Are from Central, South America

Nearly all of the criminal illegal and legal immigrants incarcerated in American prisons derive from six countries in Central and South America.

The newest Government Accountability Office (GAO) report reveals how mass immigration to the United States from primarily Central America is leading to a booming foreign incarcerated population from the region.

Between Fiscal Year 2011 and 2016, about 91 percent of all criminal illegal and legal immigrants in federal U.S. prisons were nationals from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Colombia, and Guatemala.

There are now close to 40,000 criminal illegal and legal immigrants incarcerated in federal prisons across the country, making up about 21 percent of the total federal prison population.

NY Times Columnist: Trump ‘Would Certainly Like to’ Murder People Without Due Process

New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg argued with her fellow panelists on MSNBC’s "Meet the Press Daily" Friday about whether President Donald Trump is the leader of the free world or an aspiring despot.

RealClearPolitics reporter Caitlin Huey-Burns was criticizing Trump’s communication strategy when she called him "the leader of the free world." Goldberg interjected to say that, actually, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is the leader of the free world.

"He’s not the leader of the free world, but, sorry," Goldberg said.

"By default he’s the leader of the free world," Commentary magazine editor John Podhoretz replied.

"Angela Merkel is the leader of the free world," Goldberg said, while Podhoretz laughed.

"Well, he is the most important person in the world in politics right now," Huey-Burns said, looking at Goldberg.

MSNBC's Katy Tur asked if Goldberg meant European countries don’t see Trump as a leader, but Goldberg went further than that.

"He’s a sort of junior player in a bloc of authoritarian countries," she said. "He’s part of a bloc that includes [Russian President] Vladimir Putin, [Philippine President Rodrigo] Duterte."

Both leaders she referenced have faced steep criticism for violence against their own citizens, prompting Tur to push Goldberg to clarify.

"[Trump] is not rounding people up and murdering them without any due process," Tur said.

"He would certainly like to," Goldberg replied.

NY Times Story Tries to Tie Kavanaugh to Judge Who Didn’t Even Know Who He Was

The New York Times on Thursday ran an article about the latest Democratic line of attack on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh without bothering to contact the man at the center of the story.

The Times reviewed emails that Kavanaugh sent as a White House lawyer in the George W. Bush administration during the confirmation process for Charles Pickering Sr., and outlined Democrats' contention that Kavanaugh may have misled Congress when he said he did not "primarily" handle Pickering's confirmation for an appeals court seat.

National Review senior writer David French, an accomplished attorney, contacted Pickering, however, and found out the Times never reached out to him for the article.

What the article did provide was Democrats' point of view that Kavanaugh did not testify truthfully to the Senate in 2006 when he said Pickering was "not one of the judicial nominees that I was primarily handling." Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) accused Kavanaugh of leading "critical aspects" of that confirmation fight, but Pickering told French he did not even know who Kavanaugh was at the time.

Human Rights Post Vacant Despite Crises

Human rights activists on both sides of the aisle are urging the Senate to swiftly confirm President Donald Trump's choice for a key State Department post charged with promoting freedom and democracy and protecting persecuted minorities around the world.

Trump nominated Robert Destro, a Catholic University law professor and civil rights attorney, to fill the post of assistant secretary of state for the bureau of democracy, human rights, and labor in June.

The key State Department human-rights position has been vacant for the entire first year and a half of the Trump administration even as top officials have called for more international attention to several dire global human-rights crises, which the office spearheads.

Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and several other administration officials have pressed for action to help streamline U.S. aid to assist Christians, Yezidis, and other minority victims of ISIS genocide in Iraq and have urged the U.N. Security Council to respond forcefully to the slaughter of thousands of Rohingya Muslims by state forces in Myanmar.

Heng: Big Tech Can ‘Swing Elections as They Censor Conservative Voices’

Elizabeth Heng, the Republican nominee running to represent California’s 16th Congressional District, warned of left-wing technology companies’ increasing capacity to determine electoral outcomes. She offered her remarks in a Thursday interview with Breitbart Senior Editor-at-Large Rebecca Mansour and the Foreign Desk’s Lisa Daftari for SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight.

Earlier on Thursday, Twitter blocked a campaign video advertisement of Heng’s. It described Heng’s video as containing “inappropriate content” deemed “offensive, vulgar, or obscene.”

Heng said. “The biggest message I wanted to give to [my] community was that great things can come from great adversity, and apparently Facebook and Twitter didn’t like that message. My parents came here as refugees, worked hard, and basically invested in my brothers and me to live that American dream.”

Heng added, “Once again, we have these huge tech giants that continue to stifle conservative voices. You can’t get that message out. What if this had happened with Facebook and Twitter five days before the election? That could completely swing elections for us going forward as they censor conservative voices.”

NYT Editorial Board’s Mara Gay: ‘America Was Never Great’ Is ‘Honest’

After criticizing President Trump’s “Make America Great” slogan, Cuomo laid out his reasoning.

“We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great,” he said, as his supporters laughed and gasped.

How the Left Is Outsourcing Censorship of the Internet

Liberals control every newspaper in America, as far as I know, except the Manchester Union Leader. They control CBS, ABC, NBC and every cable network except Fox News. They control what is left of the news magazines, and pretty much every other magazine, too. Only talk radio and the pesky internet lie outside their grasp, so that is where they seek to impose censorship.

But they have a problem: the First Amendment. The government can’t suppress conservative speech on the ground that it is “hate speech,” i.e., something that liberals don’t like. That was recently reaffirmed by a 9-0 decision of the Supreme Court.

So liberals have outsourced censorship of the internet to the tech titans of Silicon Valley.

Unfortunately, most political conversation these days occurs not on the “free” internet, where independent sites like Power Line reside, but rather on social media–Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and so on. Other players include Google (in its search capacity), Apple, Pinterest, Spotify, etc. Happily–if you are a leftist–all of these tech companies are run by liberals. And because they are private companies, they are not constrained by the First Amendment. They can restrict or ban conservative communications on the ground that they are “hate speech,” or on no grounds whatsoever, with impunity.

And that is exactly what they are doing. This is a big topic.

Google’s ambitions for China could trigger a crisis inside the company

On Thursday afternoon, a critical meeting at Google was derailed by a handful of tweets. Employees who had been pressing top executives for answers about the company’s plans to build a censored search engine and news app for the Chinese market appeared to have finally gotten their wish. Google cofounder Sergey Brin and CEO Sundar Pichai had taken the stage to address employees’ concerns. “We’ll definitely be transparent as we get closer to actually having a plan of record,” Pichai said, according to a report from The Intercept’s Ryan Gallagher.

Pichai apparently characterized the nature of Google’s work in China as exploratory. Gallagher has previously reported that Google had plans to get the censored search engine — codenamed Dragonfly — into a “launch-ready state.” Maybe those things aren’t at odds — maybe something can be both launch-ready and exploratory — but Google appears to be much further down the road to relaunch in China than anyone acknowledged on Thursday.

Texas Juvenile Jihadi Shows Why We Need State-Level Terrorism Statutes

Far too often during the Obama administration, attacks that had all the hallmarks of Islamist terrorism were never charged or labeled as terror attacks. Some of the many examples: The 2009 fatal shooting attack by Tennessee Islamic convert Carlos Bledsoe on a military recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas; the 2014 fatal decapitation attack by Oklahoma’s Alton Nolen at Vaughn Foods in Moore, Oklahoma; and the 2017 head-shot execution of a Denver transit security officer by Texas resident Joshua Cummings. Those and many other Islamist-inspired attacks were left to local authorities to charge under various state laws, such as murder.

Correct or not, critics often attributed Obama-era decisions not to charge extremism-motivated cases under federal terrorism statutes to a desire to downplay the Islamist threat -- and maybe also to reduce the number of terrorism attacks accrued under the Democratic Party’s watch. In other cases, legal rationales actually underlay decisions.

The sign drew attention on social media after a Houston resident posted a picture of it on Twitter . Critics on social media called the sign "victim-blaming" and misogynistic.

Bill Maher Awakens?

Liberal comedian Bill Maher defended InfoWars host Alex Jones on Friday’s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, arguing that self-described liberals should be in favor of free speech as it is a core American value.

Discussing Jones’ removal from social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Spotify, and others, Maher appeared to disagree with his audience and fellow panelists about whether censoring him was a step in the right direction.

“I’m going to talk about free speech for a minute because Alex Jones, who is not my friend, who tells crazy lies about me, is thrown off Twitter, I think, and Facebook and a few other platforms,” Maher said, prompting applause from the audience.

“Well, if you’re a liberal, you’re supposed to be for free speech,” Maher contended. “That’s free speech for the speech you hate. That’s what free speech means.”

“We’re losing the thread of the concepts that are important to this country,” he continued. “Either you care about the real American sh!t or you don’t. And if you do, it goes for every side. I don’t like Alex Jones, but Alex Jones gets to speak. Everybody gets to speak.”

CNN Accused of Intimidating Paul Manafort Jury

CNN is being accused of attempting to intimidate the Paul Manafort jury after the far-left cable channel (and six other anti-Trump outlets) requested the jurors’ names and home addresses.

Manafort, who worked for a short time as President Trump’s campaign chairman during the 2016 presidential election, has been charged by special counsel Robert Mueller with various financial crimes, none of which have anything to do with Trump or the campaign.

Manafort’s fate now sits with the jury, and after two days of deliberations, anti-Trump media outlets like CNN are becoming concerned Manafort could be acquitted, which would be a major blow to Mueller’s credibility and his ability to remove Trump from office — an outcome the establishment media are desperate to orchestrate.

And so, on Thursday, CNN, along with six other far-left media outlets (the Washington Post, BuzzFeed, Politico, the New York Times, NBC, and the AP) sued for the release of the names and home addresses of all of the Manafort jurors, a move that is both disturbing and almost unprecedented.

Virginia Democrat Mark Warner Surprise Force Behind Crackdown on Speech

Twitter this week suspended InfoWars host Alex Jones for seven days for what it said were violations of its policies, following Facebook, YouTube, Apple, and Spotify’s simultaneous banning last week.

It is not clear what prompted those platforms to suddenly take collective action, but it came about one week after Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, led a charge threatening new regulation of social media companies who cannot stop “bad actors” from using their platforms.

Two weeks ago, on July 30, a white paper authored by Warner’s staff was leaked to Axios, which blamed major social media firms for allowing Russians to interfere with the 2016 elections and outlined 20 proposals for regulating social media firms.

“Government has failed to adapt and has been incapable or unwilling to adequately address the impacts of these trends on privacy, competition, and public discourse. Armed with this knowledge, it is time to begin to address these issues and work to adapt our regulations and laws,” the white paper said.

According to judges, Trump is bound by Obama, not the law and the Constitution.

Another day, another federal judge demanding that Trump continue an unlawful, discretionary policy of the Obama administration.

On Thursday, South Carolina District Judge David Norton, a George W. Bush appointee, ruled that the Trump administration didn’t offer proper notice when it countermanded Obama’s “Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule.” Consequently, he is mandating that the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers continue regulating private property that contains streams, pools, and drainage ditches as commercial waters, in contravention of law.

The Clean Water Act granted the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers power to regulate navigable waters, which, to anyone who understands English, means large bodies of water that are used for transport by ships. In June 2015, as part of a series of lawless abuses of the Clean Water and Clean Air acts, President Obama unilaterally expanded the definition of “navigable waters” to include any seasonal stream of water that might run through private property as part of federal jurisdiction subject to water regulations.

Commercial ships and barges do not use streams and drainage ditches in farmland, yet with the stroke of a pen, Obama subjected them to cumbersome federal regulations that increased the burden for permitting needed for land development and even hurt existing landowners with threats of fines for what they do with their drainage on their own land. Under the rule, any low-lying area that could collect seasonal water could be subject to water regulations preventing farmers, ranchers, and foresters from operating certain equipment or bringing dirt, gravel, pesticides, and fertilizer into the area.

Judge halts full DACA restart

The federal judge who had ordered the government to restart the Obama-era DACA deportation amnesty in full backed off his decision Friday and said the government does not, after all, have to begin accepting brand new applications.

Judge John D. Bates acknowledged the legal mess that’s arisen around DACA and said he didn’t want to make it worse, so he issued a partial stay of his own ruling.

That means that while illegal immigrant “Dreamers” who already have had DACA protections can apply for renewals, no brand new applicants can apply to start the process.

Judge Bates also delayed part of his previous ruling that would have allowed those with DACA to apply for special protections known as advance parole — permission to travel outside the U.S. and then return — which can, in some cases, turn into a pathway to citizenship.

Former Law Clerk Accuses New York Supreme Court Judge Of Sexual Harassment, Judicial System Of Covering It Up

A former law clerk is suing the New York state Supreme Court justice in Manhattan that she worked under for sexual harassment, alleging that several members of the court were responsible for covering up his unwanted advances towards her.

Alexis Marquez claims she was fired from her clerkship under Supreme Court Justice Douglas Hoffman after she rebuffed his advances to treat her “as a wife, girlfriend, personal companion, and personal assistant,” according to the 118-page complaint filed in a Manhattan federal court.

The complaint names 17 court officials in total, including Court of Appeals Chief Judge Janet DiFiore and Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence Marks, all of whom Marquez claims suppressed her complaints and perpetuated the “widespread culture of silence and retaliation” in the courts starting just one month after she began working for Hoffman in September 2017.

During her first three weeks as a clerk for Hoffman, Marquez claims the judge repeatedly asked her a barrage of personal questions and shared personal videos and text messages with her. He suggested that they have lunch together every day, and instructed her to sit close to him and take off her suit jacket, walk him to his car, and ask Marquez to picture herself married to him, according to the complaint.

Massachusetts Taxpayer Sue Over Anti-Semitic, Pro-Islam School Lessons

A group of Massachusetts-based taxpayers are suing the school committee in the city of Newton, a wealthy, liberal enclave, over what they claim is the leadership's ongoing promotion of anti-Semitic school materials and the promotion of Islamic religious beliefs, according to an announcement from the organization handling the lawsuit.

Education Without Indoctrination, a local community group driving the lawsuit, "claims multiple violations of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law stemming from the school committee's handling of a burgeoning scandal over anti-Semitic lessons and the promotion of Islamic religious beliefs as objective facts in the public school district's history classes," according to a press release from the group.

The lawsuit stems from a controversy of Newton Public Schools use of what the group claims are "unvetted educational materials" produced by the Saudi Arabian oil company ARAMCO and the Qatari government, which has long been cited for its funding of terrorism.

"In teaching world history, Newton Public Schools (NPS) use unvetted educational materials funded by the Saudi oil company ARAMCO and the government of Qatar. As a result, Newton public school students are propagandized with materials that slander Israel and the Jewish people, and that falsify history to promote the Islamic religion in public schools," the press release states.

Twitter CEO Admits to ‘Left-Leaning’ Bias and Touts Efforts Not to Add to It

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Saturday addressed the controversy around shadow-banning and combating conspiracy theories on the platform by admitting the company’s left-leaning bias.

Speaking to CNN’s Brian Stelter, Dorsey said the company does not regulate user content based on viewpoints, despite criticism from President Donald Trump and others. Dorsey did admit the company views things from the left, and he wants to address bias on the site with that in mind.

"We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is left, is more left-leaning," he said. "I think it's important to articulate our bias and to share it with people so that people understand us, but we need to remove all bias from how we act and our policies and our enforcement."

A recent controversy over shadow-banning, which is the practice of systematically reducing the visibility of certain users’ posts, has dogged Twitter while Dorsey has tried to convince conservatives the site's policies are not biased. Twitter has denied allegations of shadow-banning according to the company's definition of the term: "deliberately making someone’s content undiscoverable to everyone except the person who posted it, unbeknownst to the original poster."

Daleiden, founder of the Center for Medical Progress, said he has 12 more undercover videos showing senior Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers candidly discussing how they make money from harvesting organs of aborted babies. He began releasing a series of videos showing similar conversations with senior Planned Parenthood officials in 2015, sparking outrage and several state and federal investigations into the trade, but he also faced fierce backlash from the abortion industry. The National Abortion Federation (NAF), which hosted a pair of conferences that Daleiden attended while posing as an organ procurer, filed a federal lawsuit and was granted a court order blocking the release of additional footage.

Daleiden is moving to have the suit tossed so the nonprofit watchdog group can publish its remaining material, which "includes some of the most damning and incriminating footage we ever recorded." He said the group strategically decided to hold back on some of its more explosive material because he wanted to take a "methodical, step-by-step" approach to educating the public given the relative obscurity of organ harvesting in the United States. The earlier videos were meant to set the stage for the footage taken at NAF conferences in 2014 and 2015.

"We're pressing for the entire thing to be dismissed," he said in a telephone conference with reporters. "You could expect a solid dozen more videos really in the same vein as the original undercover [material].… This gag order should be dissolved in October, and we should be able to release the tapes at that time."

HUD will investigate Facebook for housing discrimination

The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced Friday that it will investigate Facebook for housing discrimination, saying that the social media giant violated the Fair Housing Act by allowing housing ads that filter out minorities and other protected groups.

"When Facebook uses the vast amount of personal data it collects to help advertisers to discriminate, it’s the same as slamming the door in someone’s face," Anna María Farías, HUD’s Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity, said in a statement.

HUD filed a formal complaint against the company, which will kick off an investigation, on the grounds that it offers advertisers discriminatory options, such as hiding ads from Facebook users who have expressed interests in particular churches or who appear to be parents — or who live in specific zip codes. Facebook also has promoted its housing advertisement business as helping as helping developers find "the perfect homeowners."

Kudlow: China's Economy 'Collapsing'

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow says the Chinese economy "looks terrible."

Asked by President Donald Trump to assess China's prospects this week at a cabinet meeting, Kudlow asserted that "their economy is just heading south," citing "the latest batch of numbers" from China's markets.

"I'm not a China expert, although I'm boning up as fast as I can, I would just say right now their economy looks terrible," the National Economic Council Director said.

Kudlow also said the latest data showed that "retail sales, business investment is collapsing."

"People are selling their currency... investors are moving out of China because they don't like the economy, and they're coming to the USA because they like our economy," said Kudlow, who worked as Reagan’s budget deputy between 1981 and 1985.

Clapper: Brennan's rhetoric is becoming an issue

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said Sunday that he thinks former CIA Director John Brennan's rhetoric is becoming an issue "in and of itself."

"John and his rhetoric have become an issue in and of itself," Clapper said on CNN's "State of the Union." "John is subtle like a freight train and he’s gonna say what’s on his mind."

Clapper's comments came in response to an op-ed penned by Brennan in The New York Times this week, in which he wrote that President Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 election.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) on Thursday took aim at Brennan for "purport[ing] to know, as fact, that the Trump campaign colluded with a foreign power."

“If his statement is based on intelligence he has seen since leaving office, it constitutes an intelligence breach. If he has some other personal knowledge of or evidence of collusion, it should be disclosed to the special counsel, not The New York Times,” Burr said.

Burr added that Trump has the “full authority” to rescind security clearance if the statements were “purely political and based on conjecture.”

Trump revoked Brennan's security clearance last week, saying that his "lying and recent conduct characterized by increasingly frenzied commentary is wholly inconsistent with access to the nation’s most closely held secrets and facilities, the very aim of our adversaries, which is to sow division and chaos."

Why physicians are leaving their practices to pursue other careers

This week's news that New York University will offer free tuition to all its medical school students, in the hope of encouraging more doctors to choose lower-paying specialties, offered hope to those wishing to pursue a career in the field.

However, becoming a doctor remains one of the most challenging career paths you can embark upon. It requires extensive (and expensive) schooling followed by intensive residencies before you’re fully on your feet. The idea, generally, is that all the hard work will pay off not only financially, but also in terms of job satisfaction and work-life balance; then there’s the immeasurable personal benefits of helping people, and possibly even saving lives. In terms of both nobility and prestige, few occupations rank so highly.

So why is there a waning interest to grow a career as a physician? A recent report from the Association of American Medical Colleges projected a shortage of between 42,600 and 121,300 physicians by 2030, up from its 2017 projected shortage of 40,800 to 104,900 doctors.

There appear to be two main factors driving this anticipated doctor drought, as it were: Firstly, young people are becoming less interested in pursuing medical careers with the rise of STEM jobs, a shift that Craig Fowler, regional VP of The Medicus Firm, a national physician search and consulting agency based in Dallas, has noticed.

Fowler does see plenty of doctors in the later stages of their careers hang up their stethoscopes earlier than expected. Some cite electronic health records (EHRs) as part of the reason — especially old school doctors who don’t pride themselves on their computer skills. New research by Stanford Medicine, conducted by The Harris Poll, found that 59 percent think EHRs "need a complete overhaul;" while 40 percent see "more challenges than benefits with EHRs."

“After 20 years, I quit medicine and none of my colleagues were surprised. In fact, they all said they wish they could do the same,” Dr. Amy Baxter told NBC News.

“I began to feel like an easily replaceable cog in the healthcare machine. With the [enforcement] of EHRs, I had to spend more time as a scribe. One night a child I was treating had a seizure and I couldn’t get the medicine to enable them to breathe because their chart wasn’t in the system yet. This kid was fixing to die and I, the doctor, couldn’t get the medicine. It was demoralizing.”

Omarosa: I believe Trump wants to start a race war

Former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman on Sunday said President Trump is “disingenuous” in his efforts to help the African-American community, and accused the president of wanting to start a race war.

“We have a lot to lose right now,” Manigault Newman said on MSNBC’s “Politics Nation,” referencing Trump’s appeal to African-American voters during the 2016 campaign.

“I believe he wants to start a race war in this country,” she added.

‘Shouldn’t Be News to Anybody’ That D.C. Derailed Parade, OMB Chief Says

There’s no surprise in Washington, D.C., officials not wanting “to help” President Donald Trump “accomplish what he wants to accomplish” or back his military parade, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“If the parade had been canceled purely for fiscal reasons, I imagine I would have been in the room when that was made and I wasn’t,” Mulvaney (pictured above) told “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace. “So my guess is there were other contributing factors.”

Trump initially wanted to hold a Veterans Day military parade in D.C. But anonymous officials told CNBC and ABC News Thursday that the parade would cost an estimated $92 million — much more than the initial $12 million estimate.

Approximately $50 million would be needed to fund the military personnel and equipment costs while $42 million would be required to cover security costs and the costs D.C. would accrue.

The president took to Twitter Friday to rip District officials.

“The local politicians who run Washington, D.C. (poorly) know a windfall when they see it. When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up!” Trump tweeted.

Lost Words

Mergatroyd!...

Do you remember that word? Would you believe the email spell checker did not recognize the word Mergatroyd?

Heavens to Mergatroyd!

The other day a not so elderly (I say 75) lady said something to her son about driving a Jalopy and he looked at her quizzically and said "What the heck is a Jalopy?"

He never heard of the word jalopy!! She knew she was old..... but not that old. Well, I hope you are Hunky Dory after you read this and chuckle.

About a month ago, I illuminated some old expressions that have become obsolete because of the inexorable march of technology.

These phrases included "Don't touch that dial," "Carbon copy," "You sound like a broken record" and "Hung out to dry."

Back in the olden days we had a lot of 'moxie.' We'd put on our best 'bib and tucker' to' straighten up and fly right'.

Heavens to Betsy! Gee whillikers! Jumping Jehoshaphat! Holy moley!

We were 'in like Flynn' and 'living the life of Riley'', and even a regular guy couldn't accuse us of being a knucklehead, a nincompoop or a pill. Not for all the tea in China!

Back in the olden days, life used to be swell, but when's the last time anything was swell?

Swell has gone the way of beehives, pageboys and the D.A.; of spats, knickers, fedoras, poodle skirts, saddle shoes and pedal pushers...AND DON'T FORGET.... Saddle Stitched Pants.

Oh, my aching back! Kilroy was here, but he isn't anymore.

We wake up from what surely has been just a short nap, and before we can say, Well, I'll be 'a monkey's uncle!' Or, This is a 'fine kettle of fish'! We discover that the words we grew up with, the words that seemed omnipresent, as oxygen, have vanished with scarcely a notice from our tongues and our pens and our keyboards.

Poof, go the words of our youth, the words we've left behind. We blink, and they're gone.

Where have all those great phrases gone? Let's all go to the beach Saturday"...

Long gone: Pshaw, The milkman did it. Hey! It's your nickel. Don't forget to pull the chain. Knee high to a grasshopper. Well, Fiddlesticks! Going like sixty. I'll see you in the funny papers. Don't take any wooden nickels. Wake up and smell the roses.

It turns out there are more of these lost words and expressions than Carter has liver pills. This can be disturbing stuff! ("Carter's Little Liver Pills" are gone too!)

We of a certain age have been blessed to live in changeable times. For a child each new word is like a shiny toy, a toy that has no age. We at the other end of the chronological arc have the advantage of remembering there are words that once did not exist and there were words that once strutted their hour upon the earthly stage and now are heard no more, except in our collective memory. It's one of the greatest advantages of aging.

Leaves us to wonder where Superman will find a phone booth...

See ya later, alligator!

Satanists unveil Baphomet statue at Arkansas Capitol

A large Satanic statue featuring the goat-headed deity Baphomet was unveiled during a protest at the Arkansas State Capitol.

The Satanic Temple placed the bronze statue at the capitol during a First Amendment protest on Thursday, while calling for the removal of a Ten Commandments monument permanently mounted on Capitol grounds.

“If you’re going to have one religious monument up then it should be open to others, and if you don’t agree with that then let’s just not have any at all,” said Satanic Arkansas cofounder Ivy Forrester.

The Satanic Temple claims that the Ten Commandments monument violates constitutional freedom of religion rights.

In response, they would like to install their 7 ½-foot-tall Baphomet statue showing the winged creature accompanied by two smiling children.

The World's Most Expensive Cars

Even though billionaires have replaced millionaires in the ranks of today's truly wealthy, the vehicles that many of them covet remain priced under ten figures. But while you won't find any billion-dollar cars out there, there are still a handful that will set you back more than a cool million. Or two. Or 13. Known as hypercars, these vehicles are in a class all by themselves, the kind of wheels the one-percenters don't just salivate over but actually buy and drive. Here is our list of the top seven most expensive hypercars currently available for purchase:

Rolls-Royce Sweptail: $13 million

What began as a custom order that took five years to build is now the most expensive luxury car currently on the planet. The 2018 model, like the 2017, is of course entirely hand-built, reflecting the kind of craftsmanship that has made this British automobile company the top choice for those who simply must motor in luxury and style. The Sweptail also bears little resemblance to the current crop of Rolls Royce Phantom Coupes. Its front end is decidedly more muscular, thanks to an oversized grille and squared off corners, while the back end bears the kind of slick streamlining usually reserved for sports cars—hence the model's name. Indeed, drivers can reach a top speed of 150 mph, thanks to a 6.25-liter V12 engine that generates no less than 450 horsepower and a zero-to-sixty time of 5.6 seconds.

Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita: $4.8 million

The Koenigsegg CCXR proves that the Swedes can, in fact, design a car that doesn't look like a rolling breadbox (sorry, Volvo). The name, which roughly translates to "three whites," refers to a unique coated fiber solution that transforms traditional black carbon fibers used in automobile manufacturing to a silvery white, which sparkles when the sunlight hits the body. But it's not just a pretty car. The Trevita goes from 0 to 60 in a hair-raising 2.9 seconds and is powered by an aluminum 4.8-liter V8 engine with four valves per cylinder and double overhead camshafts.
