The White House will be holding a celebration of the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday — but without any members of the team.
President Trump said in a statement Monday night that since the entire team refuses to come because of the continuing flap over the national anthem, none of the team members would be welcomed.
“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow,” Trump said in the statement.
“They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”
The White House is still planning a patriotic celebration for Eagles fans — but without the team.
“These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony—one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem,” the president added.

Thank you Mr.President. They don't deserve to be in our house if they don't respect it.
ReplyDeleteFilthadelphia E-gals continuing to show their true colors - propping up politics instead of embracing their success in the sports ENTERTAINMENT industry. Lest we not forget, without fans sports would not exist!
ReplyDeleteGO CAPS!
Folks, get a clue. He can't "call off" something when most the players had already declined the invite. LOL. As usual though, Trump did out maneuver the NFL and the Eagles on the PR front.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you support crooked Hillary? Democrats want your guns, big government, more Obamacare, open boarders, higher taxes and want to get rid of free speech!! I'll never understand how my party went far left because of one Muslim President?. Sad. Go Trump
DeleteGood call Mr. President, no further review required.
ReplyDeleteI'm having flashbacks of when Reagan fired all the Air Traffic Controllers.
ReplyDeleteTrump has basically and correctly told the Eagles team, "...the hell with you all..".
This was to be an event to honor the accomplishment of the team, not a rally to make a political statement.
Good for Trump!
Great decision President Trump! If the game playing THUG millionaires can't go as a FULL TEAM then Jeff Laurie and his babies can stay the hell home! NFL viewership will decline again this season!
ReplyDelete740 communist china will take you in. Bye
ReplyDeleteDitto, 8:27! If they are no longer acting as a team, they can all stay home. The fans want a team they can cheer for.
ReplyDeleteTo hek with the liberal, democrap Eagle players. Celebrate our real heroes - our military personel. Eagles still SUCK.
ReplyDeleteLook at what the Mayor of Philly and the players are saying about the POTUS and the total disrespect and name calling they have for our nation's leader, after his decision. Does anyone think the few players that agreed to attend were going to not take the opportunity to lash out in front of the cameras? Trump did EXACTLY the right thing. It shows the players and the NFL for what they are, and it shows Trump is right. Why would the MAGA man allow people so disrespectful of our country's symbols into the White House, the epitome of our nation's symbols? He didn't, they're pissed, and Trump continues to rise in the polls.
ReplyDeleteThe left can bad mouth Trump and ALL the people that voted for him, until they are blue in the face, but they can't figure our that Trump's followers and supporters are all voters. And the left's antics and tantrums aren't swaying anybody except their own loser voters. The country and our laws are no longer for just 17% of our population, and the majority are taking our country back. After 50 years of the pendulum swinging to the left and taking away the majority rights and giving preference to minorities, the pendulum is finally being pushed back to the center....and the left is absolutely livid over it. The left won't be happy until were are a completely socialist country, and they overturn the Constitution our country was founded on.
The Eagles tried to make a statement by only sending a small group (about 15 I read) to the White House. President Trump called an audible and did a two-handed thunderous dunk on them instead.
ReplyDeleteBravo Mr. President!!!
This is 740 am. I loved reading the comments. You guys show why you are so easily duped. You really don't subscribe to the notion of objective analysis of facts and you really can't seem to comprehend logic.
ReplyDeleteExample: 841, you allude to my need to go to China because I pointed out a fact. It seems to me you are channeling Chinese communist doctrine by telling anyone that doesn't agree with you that they should voluntarily exile themselves. How American of you. LOL
The real issue here is not Trump, a politician, spinning untruths. Its that you guys are so easily duped every time. Here's a clue: the Eagles were NOT a part of the kneeling protest this year; this fact knocks down the bs narrative POTUS spun online. Here's another clue; immediately after the Super Bowl, when asked, there were several Eagles players who said they wouldn't go. This was BEFORE any invitation from the WH was even created. Just like the Golden State Warriors, Trump claims to dis-invite people who already said they weren't coming. And you guys believe him. Too funny. 1052 the Eagles weren't trying to make a statement bozo. They already had months ago.
ReplyDeleteNow the interesting part will be seeing how the players the opportunity. Hopefully they will do what those so-called (by you) thugs from the Golden State Warriors did; come to DC and host several outreach events at the schools to turn a negative media event into something positive for the community and the country.
More winning! He's got bigger fish to fry anyhow.
ReplyDelete10:59...your reasoning skills are somewhat lacking (your so-called "fact" is not a fact at all) and you have the arrogance to say OTHER PEOPLE are "easily duped"??
ReplyDeleteFor your clarity, there WAS an event scheduled and some eagles were coming. Trump refused to allow the White to used as a political platform for a cause he is absolutely against.
So yes, he did cancel the event. Rightly so.
The Eagles players didn't cancel it, The President did.
And America loves it!!!
Love your country and be proud of our position in the world. Honor those who DIED for your right to kneel for the anthem. Honor the kids who grew up without a father because he was killed making sure we had our freedom.
Keep kicking their ace, Mr. President!
We can tell you're doing the right thing by who screams and wails the loudest (all liberals, cross-dressing sissies, anti-American Americans, atheists, busybodies, Nazi's, and hypocritical "oppressed"
rich white celebrities).
His next term will be even better!!
1154 30 seconds on google will show you direct quotes/audio/video of players stating they wouldn't go months ago. How much more FACT do you need. It makes it clear there is no reason to continue debating folks who seem to lack common sense. The event was scheduled for those players who wanted to go because unlike so many of you, most folks are fine with taking a personal position and allowing others to do the same without villifying them.
ReplyDelete"Trump refused to allow the White to used as a political platform" - thanks for proving my point (that you are an idiot who is unwilling to acknowledge facts"). Trump couldn't even get through his Memorial Day statement without making it a political platform. Too funny.
1154 and others, here you go clown, from the press sec.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, [Sanders Huckabee] says the Eagles offered to send "only a tiny handful of representatives" to the event, "while making clear that the great majority of players would not attend."
This is when POTUS cancelled, AFTER it was clear most the Eagles didn't want to go. Again I state, you cannot disinvite a group that just told you most of them won't show. Hey, you are free to develop whatever political stance you want. But please lets all agree to stick to the facts.
You guys should take look at the statement released by Malcolm Jenkins. Let it sink in. Then think about how bad you fall all over yourselves believing what is getting spoon fed to you.
ReplyDeleteWell, the Eagles team won that test of wills with the President.
ReplyDeleteBecause of their decision to be a no-show, they will NEVER have to be burdened with:
1. Being honored on a world stage for their success.
2. Giving their fans that travelled miles to see them a proud moment.
3. Ever telling their children and grand-children about the day they met the President of The United States.
Wait... Maybe they didn't win that round after all.
For you people that want the rest of us to believe that Trump couldn't dis-invite a group that the majority didn't want to attend, then why all the wailing and hand wringing by the ones that didn't want to go, and the ones that did? And why is the Mayor of Philly so upset and calling our President bad names? If it's okay to decline the invitation, in order to register a political protest of the President, then it's damn sure okay for to President to say don't bother, you are not welcome in the White House anymore. Yeah, tell me you won't come to the party I'm throwing FOR YOU, in order to try and harm me politically.....well no party for you. HaHa, their reaction to being dis-invited is priceless. Go Trump! That's telling them. You know, Obama would have been making concessions to their demands and would be trying to fundamentally change our nation's symbols to reflect nothing but blackness. Race relations have NEVER been worse in this country since America made the mistake of putting Obama in office just because of his race. He took race relations backwards by 50 years or more with his racist view of America. If we weren't racists before, we sure are now (black and white). Piss poor legacy, if you ask me.
ReplyDelete1. Being honored on a world stage for their success: Guess you missed the big win and days of press following the SB
ReplyDelete2. Giving their fans that travelled miles to see them a proud moment.: Guess you missed the huge parties and the parade in philly along again with the days of media coverage
3. Ever telling their children and grand-children about the day they met the President of The United States.: I guess you missed where that POTUS called them SOBs. They really don't care about this POTUS and thats their right. Just like you probably didn't care about the one before
Only individuals with child-like mentalities support the NFL. Adults don't need to do so. The vast majority of Americans could care less about the National Felons League, the Eagles or the Super Bowl.
ReplyDeleteSooooo agree
DeleteWith all due respect, 4:52:
ReplyDeleteIn both #'s 1 and 2, this White House event was simply ANOTHER honor for the team, but maybe the most important.
The streets of Philly aren't exactly the center of the Free World, and I'm pretty sure that the most powerful man in the world wasn't on the podium honoring them that day in Philly.
ALSO: What I posted was not meant to be political. It referred to the historic nature of the event. As long as my Social Security checks clear, and ISIS isn't sitting in my living room, I could not care less who is in office.
AND: "...called them SOB's...". Oh no! Somebody got their little feelings hurt!
60+ yo lifelong eagles fan former USMC. My fallen brethren who served our great country so kids can play a game win every time! Hasta la Vista jeffery!
ReplyDeleteThe best retort I can come up with is I'll be cheering this man for another 6 years while you continue to find reasons to think the world is ending because of him.
ReplyDeleteSix years of knashing teeth, tears, angst, and dreams of what might have been, helpless and praying for another run by hillary.
Six more years of winning for the rest of us.
(On a side note, many of the Eagles probably couldn't go anyway -- they either had to stay within 50 feet of their house or couldn't leave the state)
And their fan's Philly "celebration"?? They were beating EACH OTHER up, throwing bottles and brick from the tops of buildings, and destroying things. Didn't make the news, but a LOT of people were hurt. Celebrating in Philly.
Might as well invite the Crips for a little throwdown....
ReplyDeleteKudos to the President for spiking their selfish interest in grandstanding.
The Eagholes won the Super Bowl and the team is to be commended for that. Their fans stuck with them through many bad years. That said, an invitation to the White House has been an honor extended to many teams across the years.
Whether the tradition will continue, especially for NFL or NBA, is now in doubt because some players think their moment in the Rose Garden is designed so they can insult their host face-to-face.
In so doing they merely reinforce the view that they are ignorant, self-centered and immature millionaires when they should be humbled by the benefits and opportunities they have already received.
Thanks for clipping the Eagholes feathers Mr. Trump!
And Trump says, Dis me! Whoa, how about this? In your face! Keep your protests out of our national anthem and the White House. HaHa, Trump wins, yet again. The dumb ass overpaid NFL doesn't get it yet. Trump is killing their sport as long as the sport is seen as a platform for criticizing our country. Trump's busy making America great again, and the NFL thinks they can keep trying to tear America down. Fools, all of them. I wasn't a fervent follower of Trump when I voted for him, but the longer I watch what he's doing for our country, and how he's undoing the blasphemous previous administration's policies, I am becoming a fervent follower.
