Contractors Picket CarMax For Lack of Pay

As I mentioned in an earlier article, the Sh!t just hit the fan for CarMax. Multiple Contractors will spend the day picketing the used car dealership for building an incredible facility and as they claim, THEY HAVEN'T BEEN PAID.

Once the public learns how multiple businesses have been treated it will be the final nail in the CarMax Coffin in Salisbury. It's tough enough to survive here on the Shore, BUT THIS, NO PAY!

More Contractors will be showing up throughout the day and we will be sure to deliver the images to you as they come in.

  1. Does the contractor have a lean on the property?

    1. You obviously have no clue how a lien works. Their worth every dollar levied against the property. They can’t refinance or sell the property with a lien against it. It’s a waiting game but it’s the only sure way to get your money these days.

  6. There is relief for these contractors at the Circuit Court level. They need to take three copies of their claims along with documentation of any payments they've received along with the proper papers of notice to the Courts' secretary and a check for the service fee by the Sheriff and secure a 'Mechanics Lien'. Once served the debtor has to respond to an action signed by the Judge and/or settle with them or appear in His/her Court and give a detailed account of why the sum in consideration should NOT be paid or adjusted. This is the correct course of action and the debtor will settle immediately.

    1. Or try to refinance, or bring on new investors, or get a permit for expansion...

  9. Unless the amount is 10% or more than the value of the property they can't get a lien.

  10. Maybe they should just take 30 cents on the dollar for all work that's already been completed

  12. What about the $ the city owes the first contractors building site on Main Street. When they had to remove debris from the cite including hazardous material in the roadway they took it to our city dump. Our city was to have paid for the removal and they never paid back this construction company--thus the end of work on Main Street for contractor # 1. This is something they must pay the city and our child mayor hired them, and have renaged on and now has hired another construction company. But yet we have the funds for the FESTIVAL!!!! SO FIRST LETS GO AFTER OUR OWN MAYOR AND CITY GOVERNMENT TO MAKE THAT WRONG RIGHT AND THEN WE'LL WORRY ABOUT CARMAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. There are plenty of "local" businesses that are slow pays or no pays.

  14. Local consumers will end up paying as these contractors will over charge others to cover the cost.

  16. CarMax has very deep pockets. I'm sure that Bruce has his hands in this somehow. I wonder if the location mentioned is a franchise. They normally don't trifle with small potatoes like Salisbury.

  17. According to Court Records two contractors have filed Mechanics Liens against

Defendant Name: Carmax Auto Superstores, Inc.
    Address: 9950 Maryland Drive
City: Richmond State:VA Zip Code: 23233

Capital Lighting & Supply, LLC d/b/a CapitalTristate/s ML was filed on 2/7 and the 2nd ML was filed by Dixie Construction Company, Inc. on 3/28.
It looks like the contract was with the Headquarters in Richmond Carmax, not Salisbury.

CarMax is the United States' largest used-car retailer and a Fortune 500 company. The first CarMax location opened in September 1993. As of March 2017, the company had 173 locations Carmax headquarters is located in Richmond VA

  18. well since they don't want to pay they are setting a precedent. Since they do not pay their bills does that mean we can go get a vehicle from them and not pay? good for the goose good for the gander. Pay your bills!

  19. Sounds like no one got paid yet maybe because banks are claming up on bad credit car loans.

  20. Hitting the sidewalk with their posters probably is a cheap and effective way to cast the used car dealer in a bad light as they are getting started locally. The HQ in Richmond ought to be burning the midnight oil to solve this PR problem!

    1. You must be a sales person somewhere else. I have bought several cars from Carmax and always do my research. Carmax used cars are top-of-the-line. Anything that doesn’t make it to their standards they send off to auctions. The same auctions many of the car dealerships in Salisbury go and purchase and then resell at a high rate. They give the highest trade-in value possible and will even buy your car if you’re not buying one from them. Other dealerships in the area have told me to go to Carmax to sell my cars because I would be able to get more from them. One car I was selling Carmax offered $10,000 trade-in another dealership across the street offered me $2000. Carmax is not a rip off. Going to other Local small car dealerships and buying cars that will break down in no time are the rip offs. They should all be shut down. They prey on people that need cars quickly and have low credit scores. Carmax can get you a loan and you will have an answer within minutes from multiple lenders.
