BALTIMORE —An executive order mandated vending machines in all Baltimore County government buildings can only offer healthy choices.
"Today, we're going to be eliminating the temptation of poor choices in vending machines," said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz.
"We're looking for healthy foods that are lower in calories, lower in fat, lower in carbs and salt and sugars," said Gregory Branch, Baltimore County health officer.
Gone are the candy, fried foods and sugary sodas, replaced by things like baked chips, granola bars and bottled water. In county buildings, mostly employees and other adults are affected by the change.

Can Baltimore really afford to lose the revenue?
ReplyDeleteNote this is in Baltimore County, not the city. Too separate jurisdictions.
DeleteNow, if they could only remove the unhealthy political options, they might turn things around.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they should put weed guns and bail money in them.
ReplyDeleteSnack Nazi! When nobody buys the snacks, the vending company removes the machines. No snacks for you!
ReplyDeleteBig Brother is watching....
ReplyDeletebrought to you by the same people who cheer burning corn for gas
ReplyDeleteWho paid him off.
ReplyDeleteBut still has employee smoking areas at every exit.
ReplyDelete11:02 that's right, we literally throw the corn into a fuel tank. That's like saying people drink corn for the buzz. You're an idiot.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't get the joke. If you believe it saves emissions though ive got some beach front property in Nevada I will let go cheap!
DeleteDemocrats love to take choice away, unless you are killing a young child - then it is ok!
ReplyDeleteTo 12:31: any rational person understands exactly what 11:02 means. And s/he is right. You're the rather foolish and unfortunate idiot.
ReplyDelete"Our murder rates are horrible but we have healthy snacks."
ReplyDeletenew motto
Mr Bob
People will just bring their own to work. They lose money and the employee saves money.
ReplyDeleteANOTHER "I know what's best for everyone" slimy politician.
ReplyDeleteWe need to hang them all.
I don't need his medical advice or his personal lifestyle and choices edicts imposed on me or anyone else.
If THIS is what he is collecting a public salary for, he should resign.
He is wasting OUR MONEY.
Does he really think that the 300lb office worker is going to drop 100 pounds because they can't buy chips at the office anymore?
Maybe hang him with his toes just touching the ground and beat him with a bat for a while.
Politicians deserve extra attention as far as I'm concerned and they should get it.
Baltimore is crumbling into chaos and his attention is focused on chips and cookies????
Line 'em up and take this country back.
Or,
Keep cheering.
(hint: things aren't going to get better, only worse).
