Dick’s Sporting Goods announced on Monday it will destroy all of the unsold firearms it pulled off store shelves in February after the deadly Parkland school shooting.
The sports retailer decided to destroy the assault-style rifles instead of returning them to the manufacturer, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported. On Feb. 28, 2018, the Pittsburgh-based company announced it would immediately stop selling assault-style rifles and ban the sale of all guns to anyone under 21. It was not immediately clear how many firearms will be destroyed.
“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change,” a spokesperson from Dick’s Sporting Goods told the media outlet. “We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”

ReplyDeleteYet another big shot retailer that just does not get it. People it is a much larger problem than guns. The problem starts in the home and ends with the courts. Neither party is doing their jobs.

I have a lot of kids in sports and I'll never shop there again being they decided to become a political pawn. I might still go in to try on shoes and clothing for size then order them online from somewhere else.

ReplyDeleteHow is a store changing its sales policy to age 21 for gun sales legal? This is clearly age discrimination. It is against the state laws and federal laws covering the sale of guns. Both say 18 for long guns, 21 for handguns.

Me too. I don't even park at their entrance any longer. I park way down by Boscovs.
By the way didn't Boscovs sell guns in their sporting section when they first opened?
Maybe the supplier wouldn't take them back? All sales final? No way to know if the rifles are still safe and untampered with? It sucks to be Dicks. Oh I made a funny.
