  1. Good call. Back roads are still a mess and would be a nightmare for the busses.

  2. GREAT CALL... l make deliveries all around this area and these roads are still not good enough to take a chance.

  4. To those of you complaining about the COUNTY conditions, the schools are closed because the roads in the City of Salisbury is totally screwed up.

Let's all try to remember people, it was pretty much useless to plow on Wednesday evening last week because of the cold and more importantly the winds. The County would clear roads and 1 hour later they'd be covered again by the light snow and drifts.

Then we had multiple days in a row of freezing temperatures and no sun. Point fingers anywhere you want, these conditions were unusual as well as extremely difficult.

As for the past few days, once the Landfill reopened the County lost the majority of staff to plow. Instead of 44 trucks being out and 24 hour plowing, they were forced to go to 8 hour shifts.

Now, if any of YOU would like to take a course, (2 to 5 hours long) and volunteer to plow, I'm sure Executive Culver would entertain bringing qualified people on board to help out, like Councilman Joe Holloway did.

As for the City, well it's pretty obvious your Mayor and local media LIED about the road conditions, claiming all roads had been cleared. Then watching WBOC with their new BS commercial once again claiming they were there for you and then calling themselves "Delmarva's Weather Leader" made me want to puke.

You fools just keep buying their brainwashing lies. Most of us, (on the other hand) have had just about enough of their BS.

  5. Just like there is no excuse for an unshoveled sidewalk there is no excuse for these road conditions a week after the storm.

Yesterday WBOC - were on the news showing how the roads were still dangerous and packed ice - but that was the weathers fault.

WBOC's opener this morning was AGAIN laws on shoveling your sidewalk - at this point, fine away. It has been over 5 days. We have seen whole neighborhoods unshoveled - Like Hammond St, the 1000-1100 block of E Church st - which is heavily walked.

We saw plows driving around in a neighborhood off E Shore Dr. - not plowing - just driving around. Not entirely sure what that's about. Ya know - plow up.

  6. The mayor and city are too busy working on the Folk Festival that is being planned this year so they don't have time to worry about the city streets. I live in the city in one of the nicer neighborhoods and the streets are still full of snow, dangerous ruts and ice. Our landscapers that took care of clearing the sidewalks and driveways (at the expense of the owners) did a better job than the city and would have rather paid them to clear the street in front of my house because the city certainly failed miserably on that item.

  7. It was Salisbury s election to lose, and they have for several administrations. What can you say about a city that's willing to elect idiots like ireton and day.

  8. 2-5 hour course for snow plowing?

  9. Is the screwed up streets in Salisbury the reason Somerset County Schools are closed too? The back roads of Wicomico and Somerset are still a mess. There is no need to place total blame on City Streets in Salisbury. Gots your dig in today for Salisbury and the Mayor so move on to something important.

  10. Why was it the landfill was opened at the expense of clearing the roads?

  11. The more that kid they call mayor screws up the more I'm enjoying the show.I can't wait for that folk festible to come to town with down town all torn up because we can't afford a festible and have our streets repaired at the same time. By the way is there any chance the mayor could be charged with fraud? Now that would really be something to see. Maybe 60 minutes will do a segment on our lovely city.Salisbury's mayor Proud and Stupid.

  12. The roads are a disgrace, City and County. It's been a week for cryin out loud. Ever heard of brine? salt? sand? We need somebody in charge that knows something about road maintenance.

  15. Joe look at these comments I found posted on the BOE Twitter page from these products of the Wicomico County Schools. They are so dumb they can't even formulate a proper sentence and they were begging the BOE to cancel school last night. By the embarrassing looks of this poor grammar, they've missed quite a few days of school.

As a father I will be very disappointed in this department for NOT considering the needs and the situations of these kids. I couldn’t even leave my house and go to work or buy groceries the passed few days due to how bad the roads are.

    Jake Marshall 11 hours ago

I seriously cannot allow my kids to go to school with these road conditions, neither should any sane parent. All the schools should be canceled tomorrow for sure. This isn’t something that you need to think about or consider.

  16. A little 7 year old girl with her grandparents was in line ahead of me at the grocery store today. She told me she would be glad when school opens again because she was tired of "being around old people"!!!
