“Westside Historical Society Offers Traditional Basket Making Class”

The Westside Historical Society, in an effort to help save our traditional crafts, will offer their annual class in making woven wood baskets, taught by expert basket maker Susan Taylor. Taylor is never satisfied to make a simple basket. Hers are always special and this year’s will feature an American Flag! A work of art that also is functional!

The class will begin at 10 and last until approximately 3 pm, in Mardela Springs. A minimum of six and maximum of 10 students will be admitted to the class, and since Taylor will need time to prepare the wooden strips, registration must be made by July 1. No walk-ins are accepted. This class, Taylor promises, is a fairly easy one to do. Cost will be $45, and all tools and materials are provided. Students may bring lunch or order in; snacks will be provided. Taylor is a real “hand-on” teacher, ensuring a beautiful, professional looking end result!

The study of basket making as art was virtually ignored until the 20th century ; many thought it to be ordinary and simply a part of domestic life and functional use. But historians see it as a key to learn about the daily lives of people and their lifestyles and very worthy of study and research. And in recent years, basket making has been elevated to a fine art, with exhibits of beautiful hand-woven baskets featured in the Smithsonian and other major museums. The National Basketry Organization promotes basketry as contemporary art nationally. In Maryland, those who hope to save this craft and art form have realized we are losing our basket-making traditions and cultures. The skills, patterns, materials, and forms of baskets woven by Native Americans, watermen, and farmers are being saved and passed on to new generations. The functions of baskets vary widely, from containers for fish and eels, apples and eggs, flowers and herbs to drying tobacco and a host of other items.

Anyone who is interested in joining us for this special tradition and art form – and a fun day -- is urged to contact Sylvia Bradley for more information or to register, either by phone at 410-726-8047, or email westsidehistorical@gmail.com.

Survival secrets of otters BBC documentary

Otters may look cute, but these relentlessly energetic creatures are also skilled predators.

Otter-obsessed wildlife cameraman Charlie Hamilton James made for Wisconsin's Wild Instincts Rehabilitation Centre to study three orphaned male river otters ahead of their release back into the wild, to get a further insight into what makes the creatures so unique.

Hamilton James, who fronts Supercharged Otters: Natural World on the BBC, also filmed otters in various scenarios, slowing the footage down to 40 times slower than real time to allow him to study their movements in meticulous detail.

He said the footage backed up theories that the creatures can smell even underwater, after placing a plastic flake of fish and a real chunk of salmon under the water to see how the otter behaved.

Barbie's boyfriend Ken gets a makeover: Cornrows, man buns and new skin tones

NEW YORK - He’s been overshadowed by Barbie for decades, but now Ken is finally getting some attention.

Mattel is introducing 15 new looks for the male doll, including different skin tones, body shapes and hair styles.

Barbie had a similar makeover more than a year ago, both part of the toy company’s plan to make its dolls more diverse and appealing to today’s kids.

Ken hadn’t changed much since he was introduced 56 years ago as Barbie’s blue-eyed, chiseled boyfriend. Now he’ll be sold in three body shapes: “slim,” “broad” and “original.”

He’ll have modern hairdos, such as cornrows and man buns, and come in seven skin tones. And he’ll also be sporting new fashions: think skinny ties, plaid shirts and graphic tees.

The End Of Pretend Looms As "The Well Is Going Dry This Summer"

It ain’t bragging if it’s true. I’ve said repeatedly on this blog for years that the federal government would only become more impotent, more incompetent, and more ineffectual as The Long Emergency rolled out. And here we are now, at just such pass in history.

The process has been well underway since the beginning of the century. Even the attempts to expand its scope and reach — such as the post 9-11 addition of God-knows-how-many new intelligence services — has only produced an epic clusterfuck of cross-purposed mission creep that threatens the federal government’s existential legitimacy.

After nearly a year of investigating, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, the DIA, DHS, et. al. haven’t been able to leak any substantial fact about “Russian collusion” with the Trump election campaign - and, considering the torrent of leaks about all manner of other collateral matters during this same period, it seems impossible to conclude that there is anything actually there besides utterly manufactured hysteria.

First White Marlin of Ocean City’s 2017 Season Reeled In

OCEAN CITY, MD – (June 20, 2017): The highly coveted “first white marlin” of the season has been caught, as anglers in the resort town are celebrating. David Taylor of Baltimore reeled in the first white marlin of 2017 on Saturday, June 17. The marlin was caught at approximately 12 p.m. while the crew of “Reel Buster” was fishing off the shore of Ocean City, in the area of the Poorman’s Canyon. The fish was released after the catch.

As the angler reeling in the first white marlin of the season, Taylor will receive a $5,000 prize awarded by the Town of Ocean City. “Ocean City is proud to be the White Marlin Capital of the World,” commented Mayor Rick Meehan. “What a fantastic way to kick off the start to our summer than the first white marlin catch of the season. It’s a symbolic start to the fishing season and hopefully a sign of many more for our offshore fishermen this summer.”

The prize money will be awarded to Taylor at the Mayor and Council Regular Session meeting on July 3.

The Marketing Strategy for Unhealthy Products: Racially Profile

Tobacco and soda companies disproportionately target minority citizens and lawmakers with advertising and lobbying. One city is fed up.

If you still watch cable television or saw the Super Bowl this year, you may have seenone of the latest ads from the anti-smoking nonprofit the Truth Initiative.

They bring to light the fact that tobacco companies racially profile as a form of marketing. According to one of the ads, a study in the American Journal of Public Health found that tobacco advertising in big cities is 10 times more likely to appear in black neighborhoods.

Big Tobacco isn't the only industry that sells unhealthy products and engages in racial profiling to do it. The soda industry is guilty, too.

Alexandria Shooter Hodgkinson Said to Be Abusive Alcoholic

James T. Hodgkinson, the man who shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R., La.) and four others at a Republican congressional baseball practice on Wednesday, is shown in court reports to have been an abusive alcoholic.

Cathy Rainbolt became a foster child of Hodgkinson and his wife, Sue, in 2003, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday. Rainbolt died in 2015 from a drug overdose, but court reports show that before she left the Hodgkinson household she was a victim of physical and verbal abuse.

Rainbolt told a judge before she died that Hodgkinson would drink every day, hit her in the face, and drag her by the hair when she would try to get away.

Rainbolt found solace at a neighbor's house. She went to live with the neighbors, Nicki Stieren and her daughter Janae Rainbolt, and took the daughter's last name after she was released from the Hodgkinsons' care. According to court reports, Hodgkinson went into Stieren's house and chased Rainbolt before grabbing her by the hair, pulling her off the floor where she was hiding under the bed and throwing her back down to the ground.

Fresh terror in Brussels

Suspected suicide bomber threatening train passengers 'shouts Allahu Akbar and triggers an explosion' at city's central station as he is gunned down by soldiers

A suspected suicide bomber who allegedly shouted 'Allahu Akbar' before triggering an explosion at Brussels Central Station has been gunned down and killed by soldiers.

Shots rang out soon after 8pm on Tuesday as police and soldiers moved in to 'neutralise' the man, who was said to be 'threatening rail passengers' in what is being considered as a terrorist incident.

The attacker was not confirmed dead for several hours after being shot as medics could not approach him for fear that the explosives strapped to him could go off, official authorities said.

Initial reports suggested the suspect - described as being 'tanned, well-built and in his 30s' - was wearing an explosive vest or rucksack, while witnesses later claimed he tried to blow up a trolley or a suitcase.

Obese judge rakes in cash for doing nothing at all

An obese judge did not do his $193,000-a-year job for over three years because he was too fat — and will still retire with a hefty pension even though an ethics panel found he milked the system, The Post has learned.

Acting Supreme Court Judge Daniel J. McCullough, 65, stepped down last month, after a state ethics probe determined that he “persistently failed to report to work” since April 2014 instead of going on proper medical leave.

Had he taken such leave, McCullough would also have taken a pay cut. His decision to remain an “active” judge prompted the state Commission on Judicial Conduct to find last month that McCullough failed “to respect and comply with the law.”

EPA Ends $1 Million Taxpayer-Funded Gym Membership Program

The Environmental Protection Agency has ended a nearly $1 million program that provided gym memberships for employees.

The new administration under EPA administrator Scott Pruitt identified the gym memberships as an abuse of taxpayer dollars. Examples of the program's misuse included $15,000 for gym memberships for 37 EPA scientists in Las Vegas last year.

"We have ended taxpayer-funded fitness centers at EPA; a program that was costing American taxpayers $900,000 per year," said EPA spokesperson Jahan Wilcox. "Disinvestment in using federal funds for EPA fitness centers will allow the agency to invest this money in core activities to protect the environment."

Pruitt vowed an end to taxpayer-funded programs after the Washington Free Beacon report on the agency spending $15,000 on gym memberships in Las Vegas, earlier this year. Employees in the U.S. Environmental Science Division billed taxpayers $399 each for gym memberships, even though employees had access to a "state-of-the-art" gym on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus.

Wicomico County Man Charged with Illegal Harvesting, Health Violations

Maryland Natural Resources Police officers on surveillance at the Nanticoke River Oyster Sanctuary charged a Wicomico County man with illegal harvesting and public health violations.

David Messick, 32, of Bivalve, received citations for harvesting out of season, harvesting wild oysters more than 150 feet inside a sanctuary, failing to provide shade on his vessel to control the Vibrio bacteria and harvesting on the aquaculture lease of another.

When officers approached Messick June 6, he had four bushels of oysters on board his boat that he said came from his leased area. When they checked his claim, the officers found that the lease had been terminated by the state in March for failure to pay rent. In fact, the oysters came from the sanctuary and a lease that belonged to another man.

After checking GPS coordinates with a state hydrographer, officers issued citations. The oysters were returned to the water.

Messick has been scheduled for a hearing in Wicomico County District Court Aug. 1.

Caddell: 'Resistance' Rhetoric Fueling ‘Raging Fever’ in Unbalanced People

Pat Caddell talked all things media and President Trump with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Monday.

Caddell said, “I think they are united in a narrative. And that narrative is, somebody did something wrong. It was Donald Trump and therefore, at the end of the day, he must not be president.”

“They’re still fighting the campaign that they lost,” he added, meaning the media.

“They will not put out things that disagree with their narrative,” said Caddell. “That’s when they stop being a press. They’ve become propagandists and this is really dangerous stuff. It is really scary because for many voters, they don’t know where to turn, necessarily, to get a view that gives them both sides.”

Congressman Warns of Rise of ‘Militant Left’ in U.S. Politics

During the June 18 airing of Breitbart News Sunday, Representative Trent Franks (R-AZ) warned of the rise of the “militant left” in U.S. politics.

On June 16, Breitbart News quoted a Daily Caller report which indicated the Alexandria attacker had an “assassination” list in his pocket, a list which contained the name of Rep. Franks.

While a guest on Breitbart News Sunday, Franks said news of the list has been widely reported, and he does not see a need to try to “characterize the list” because “[he] thinks it has already been fairly accurately characterized.” Moreover, he said he did on want to say anything that “impedes the investigation of the Capitol Police or the FBI.” He added, “I want to be sure they have the opportunity to express the character of the list as they choose because they may have important reasons for doing so.”

Franks then shifted focus from the list in order to talk of causal matters. He said that the attack appears to be “premeditated,” which means “we have devolved to a great point in our society now. To the point where the militant left is out there to the extent that they are willing to shoot people.”

Judicial Watch: Susan Rice 'Unmasking' Requests Sealed in Obama Library

Information regarding the unmasking of Trump campaign and transition members by former President Barack Obama's national security adviser, Susan Rice, is stored at the Obama Library — and will be under lock-and-key for five years, a watchdog group said Monday.

Judicial Watch said it was told about the sealed documents in a letter from the National Security Council.

The NSC told Judicial Watch it won't hand over the unmasking records, nor any intelligence community information about Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election, Judicial Watch reported.

The president of Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton, was livid about the Obama Library storage of the material — and said he hoped special counsel Robert Mueller and Congress would look into the matter.

Senator, Interrupted: Kamala Harris outrage illustrates feminism's inability to react in proportion

[by Emily Jashinsky]

American females live in the freest and fairest society that has ever existed for our sex, but modern liberal feminism is dedicated to painting contemporary U.S. culture as a nightmare of misogyny. Many media feminists spent last week offering their outrage over the tremendous scourge of men interrupting women mid-sentence.

Mid. Sentence.

Can you believe it?

It is almost as though Hillary Clinton's candidacy was one long and beautiful sentence, interrupted callously by the misogynistic patriarch our twisted society enabled.

In all seriousness, that feminists devoted so much enthusiasm to rallying around Kamala Harris (or Elizabeth Warren), a United States senator and the former California attorney general, because she was interrupted not once, but twice, by a male colleague in so many days tells you where the movement's priorities are. In an article published in its Business section, the New York Times compared treatment of Harris to a joke former Uber board member David Bonderman made at a meeting on Tuesday, quipping that adding more women to the board would result in "more talking."

Someone must pay the counseling bills of the poor women subjected to the trauma of a man making a bad joke, considering how fragile and ill-equipped we are to cope with such cutting rhetoric..

Online Retail Boom Means More Warehouse Workers, And Robots To Accompany Them

There's a good chance something you've bought online has been in the hands of a "picker" first. These are the workers in warehouses who pick, pack and ship all those things we're ordering.

At Amazon and other companies, they're working side by side with robots. Experts say while the robots are replacing some human workers, the machines aren't quite ready to take over completely.

To keep pace with a growing hunger for fast delivery, more pickers are being hired in the distribution industry. And on the outskirts of the Bay Area, a school is using technology to train students in these new jobs.

Patterson High School is about two hours east of San Francisco. It's surrounded by the farmland of California's Central Valley, which produces half of the country's fruits, vegetables and nuts. But this group of students isn't learning how to be farmers. They're training to work in warehouses.

'Resisting' Democracy and Decency

“Liberals protest; radicals rebel. Liberals become indignant; radicals become fighting mad and go into action. Liberals do not modify their personal lives and what they give to a cause is a small part of their lives; radicals give themselves to the cause. Liberals give and take oral arguments; radicals give and take the hard, dirty, bitter way of life.” —from Saul Alinsky’s “Reveille for Radicals,” published in 1946

Perhaps nothing has contributed to the toxic nature of today’s political climate more than the disturbing reality that a once classically liberal Democrat Party has been hijacked by the radical Left. This is not the party of John F. Kennedy, Tip O'Neill or former DNC chair Henry “Scoop” Jackson, who simultaneously supported liberal causes while remaining staunchly anti-Communist. Today’s DNC chair is Thomas Perez, whose contribution to “thoughtful” debate is to assert that Republicans “don’t give a s—t about people,” and declare that Donald Trump “didn’t win the election.”

But Donald Trump did win the election, despite the recounts, the death threats and petitions aimed at getting Electoral College voters to subvert the will of the people, and the felonious Inauguration Day riots, courtesy of leftist thugs who smashed property and threw rocks at police.

And ever since, a Democrat Party, aided and abetted by a corrupt phalanx of leftist radicals in media, academia, Hollywood and vast swaths of the unelected federal bureaucracy, has made it clear Donald Trump must not be merely challenged or discredited.

He must first be demonized and then impeached — by any means necessary.

Hence, a severed presidential head is presented as comedy..

Collecting LGBT Census Data Is 'Essential' To Federal Agency, Document Shows

The U.S. Census Bureau has never asked Americans about sexual orientation and gender identity. Last year, though, requests for that data came from more than 75 members of Congress and multiple federal agencies.

Still, the Census Bureau concluded "there was no federal data need" to collect this information, the bureau's outgoing director, John Thompson, wrote in March.

A document obtained by NPR through a Freedom of Information Act request, however, reveals that the Department of Housing and Urban Development told the bureau that there indeed was a need.

"Valid, reliable, and nationally representative data on sexual orientation and gender identity are essential to HUD fulfilling its mission," former HUD Secretary Julián Castro wrote in a letter to Thompson dated June 30, 2016.

Supreme Court to hear potentially landmark Wisconsin case on partisan gerrymandering

The Supreme Court declared Monday that it will consider whether gerrymandered election maps favoring one political party over another violate the Constitution, a potentially fundamental change in the way American elections are conducted.

The justices regularly are called to invalidate state electoral maps that have been illegally drawn to reduce the influence of racial minorities by depressing the impact of their votes.

But the Supreme Court has long been tolerant of partisan gerrymandering - and some justices have thought that the court shouldn't even be involved. A finding otherwise would have a revolutionary impact on the reapportionment that will take place after the 2020 election and could come at the expense of Republicans, who control the process in the majority of states.

Jay Sekulow, Donald Trump's attorney, says there's 'nothing to investigate' over James Comey firing

President Trump’s attorney Jay Sekulow reiterated Monday that “there is nothing to investigate” when it comes to the president’s decision to fire former FBI Director James B. Comey.

“As I’ve said for the last weekend, the president of the United States takes action receiving — a letter actually from his attorney general and a memorandum from his deputy attorney general. In that letter, there’s a recommendation for the removal of James Comey, and then he takes action for the removal of James Comey,” Mr. Sekulow said on Fox News.

“There’s nothing to investigate. That’s the constitutional rights and protections under the president’s authority as commander-in-chief,” he said.

Mr. Sekulow also defended his claim made over the weekend that Mr. Trump is not under investigation. Mr. Sekulowsaid the question posed to him asked if the president’s legal team had been notified by the special counsel as to whether the president was under investigation, which Mr. Sekulow denied Sunday.

He reiterated on CNN Monday morning, “I don’t know what they’re doing. I haven’t made that call.”

Mr. Sekulow even went so far as to say he couldn’t confirm there even was an investigation at all.

Hillary Clinton Told FBI's Mueller To Deliver Uranium To Russians In 2009 "Secret Plane-Side Tarmac Meeting"

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton facilitated the transfer a highly enriched uranium (HEU) previously confiscated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) during a 2006 “nuclear smuggling sting operation involving one Russian national and several Georgian accomplices,” a newly leaked classified cable shows.

So-called “background” information was provided in the cable which gave vague details on a 2006 nuclear smuggling sting operationin which the U.S. government took possession of some HEU previously owned by the Russians.

"Over two years ago Russia requested a ten-gram sample of highly enriched uranium (HEU) seized in early 2006 in Georgia during a nuclear smuggling sting operation involving one Russian national and several Georgian accomplices. The seized HEU was transferred to U.S. custody and is being held at a secure DOE facility."

The secret “action request,” dated Aug. 17, 2009, was sent out by Secretary of State Clinton and was addressed to the United States Ambassador to Georgia Embassy Tbilisi, the Russian Embassy, and Ambassador John Beyrle.

They Cut Baby From the Womb, Force Mother to WATCH What They Did to the Newborn

There is no shortage of atrocities committed by ISIS, but what happened to a pregnant woman in Iraq is still beyond the pale. Feral Pirali was captured by ISIS, and spoke about the horrifying torture a friend of hers was forced to endure.

Pirali was a Yazidi activist and interpreter, and in 2010, she was being held by ISIS. During the Women in the World Summit, she told the story of her friend, held by ISIS in 2010 while she was pregnant. Her friend was not able to escape, and the terrorists did the unthinkable to her… and to her baby.

First, they cut open her stomach and removed the baby from her womb. But they were only getting started. “They raped the baby, and they raped her, and they thought she was dead so they left her behind,” Pirali explained. But somehow, her friend survived.

Black Lives Matter are Outraged Over a Huge Sign in Texas — THIS is Hilarious!

Black Lives Matter got started as a way to protest police brutality, an idea that would seem to be unoffensive. Yet not everyone can get on board — many people dislike Black Lives Matter, due to their violent protests, frequent riots, and calls for violence against police. Still, speaking out against the group is still often frowned upon, and using the phrase “all lives matter” gets liberal activists really riled up, as one Texas restaurant found out firsthand.

Wagner Supply Company in Odessa, Texas, decided to chime in on the Black Lives Matter vs. All Lives Matter debate with a sign posted in front of their business. The message is simple, and yet the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

The sign reads, “2000 years ago Jesus ended the debate of which lives matter. He died for all!”

Teen Was Kicked out Graduation for Only Pants He Can Afford. Then He Sees Stranger Outside….

If someone ran up to you and asked you to give them your pants, would you? The odds are, you answered this question with a very firm “no” and perhaps even a look of puzzlement or disgust, but what if I told you that your pants were the difference between one student walking across the stage to receive his diploma, or going home before the graduation ceremony even started?

That’s exactly the predicament Leroy Solis Jr. found himself in when he simply couldn’t afford to meet the dress code for his high school’s graduation ceremony.

MacArthur High School’s graduation dress code stated that boys must wear slacks and a tie, or they may not be able to walk the stage to receive their diplomas. Well, Solis Jr. didn’t have slacks or a tie, and couldn’t ask his father, who is on a fixed income, if he would buy them. Instead, he planned to walk in jeans with no tie, hoping that his gown would be long enough to cover up the fact that he wasn’t wearing slacks.

‘Harvard lib’ gets first job, until ‘white male’ boss dares to ask why she’s 2 hrs late

There is a new parody video that has just hit social media, and it’s serving as a wake-up call for millennials with a safe space outlook on life. It uproariously projects how it looks when young liberals are faced with their very first job out of school. The real world skills are so much more different from previous generations, and that is something that should be studied. The animal instinct to survive has been robbed from this generation , and replaced with a sense entitlement, no matter how good you are.

Not going to fly in the real world.

The video, from “The Conservative Millennial” Allie Stuckey mocks the first day at a new job by a left wing, safe-spacer fresh from his safe-space of college and their professors.

“I just graduated from college last week. Harvard actually. And I started my new job on Monday so obviously on Sunday night I wanted to go out with my friends and celebrate. It was a late night, so Monday morning, first thing I rolled in around 10:30.”

Things got a little dicey when her fabricated “white, male,” boss asked her where she had been and why she was late to work.

Mueller's Real Mandate

The Washington D.C. nomenklatura advanced forward last week with its slow-moving coup d’état against America’s constitutionally elected President.

But even after the federal bureaucracy’s further progress toward undoing the 2016 election, I confess to a faint hope that Special Counsel Robert Swan Mueller III -- supposed embodiment of upper class, non-partisan, lawyerly virtue -- might actually conduct a fair, focused and swift inquiry into the matter assigned him.

In the end, though, the sensible old lawyer’s voice in my head whispers that this hope is more pipedream than prediction of events.

Here’s the latest state of affairs, no doubt soon to be out of date:

The violent political Left

Violence is in the air these days.

It was visible to the world on Victoria Square in Manchester and London Bridge in the days before the British general election June 8. It was visible on the baseball field in Alexandria Wednesday morning as a Trump hater and Bernie Sanders volunteer took a rifle and shot House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others as Republicans practiced for the congressional baseball game.

Violence is increasingly visible or threatened in the attacks by ski-masked, hammer-armed "antifas" — people employing fascists-style violence on those who disagree — on campuses from Berkeley to New England and in the streets of "cool cities" like Portland. Contrary to mainstream media expectations, the violence and threats come almost entirely from the political Left, not the Right..

Trump also tweeted this: “You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history — led by some very bad and conflicted people! #MAGA.”

ESPN Host: National Anthem Is 'Injecting Politics' Into Sports

ESPN's Max Kellerman took a while to grow on me, but after watching him host Around the Horn, he did. I was glad to see him survive the recent purges at ESPN.

At least until I found out the insane thing he believes regarding Colin Kaepernick and the national anthem fiasco that infected the NFL last season:

The "First Take" co-host made the comment on Thursday's show. During a discussion about Seahawks' star Michael Bennett comparing Colin Kaepernick to Muhammad Ali, Kellerman said Kaepernick "did not go looking for a protest. It came to him.”

“He was asked to stand for the national anthem,” Kellerman said. “You do not have to stand for the national anthem. And even if it it was a rule that you did, is that Colin Kaepernick injecting politics in the NFL? No. That’s the NFL injecting politics by playing the national anthem and putting pressure on you to stand for it in the first place.”

Max, just shut the hell up.

WICOMICO COUNTY 2017 TAX SUCCESS

Salisbury, MD ... The Wicomico County 2017 Tax Sale was held on June 13, 2017 and we are pleased to report it was a success.

The County made the decision to forego a tax sale last year, exercising an option permitted by State Law. In doing so, other choices were made to help the taxpayers with the cost of their properties being brought to sale. Advertising costs were markedly less by advertising in The Daily Record reducing this annual cost of $75,000 annually to $2,500 this year. The Daily Record was available in the Government Office Building and each municipality had them available in their offices. Those properties that were being sold were also listed on the County's website at www.wicomicocounty.org. Both the website and The Daily Record were updated weekly.

There were 76 bidders who participated in this years' tax sale which yielded 33% more participants than the average attendance over the last five years. Forty-four bidders were successful. The properties sold yielded $757,526 in back taxes. Of the $1,318.520 still owed, $800,150 is for taxes owed to the towns including expenses such as demolition and grass cutting.

Owners of properties that were sold at the Tax Sale should contact the Department of Finance at 410-548-4840 for redemption instructions. Properties that didn't sell are available over the counter beginning on June 21, 2017 until December 31, 2017. The tax sales results and available properties are listed on the County's website at www.wicomicocounty.org.

10,000 Muslims Committed To March AGAINST Terrorism – Guess How Many Showed Up

In Cologne, Germany, over the weekend, organizers had anticipated more than 10,000 Muslims would show up at an anti-terrorism rally. Not so much. ABC is touting that 1,000 showed up, but it’s ABC… after their lying over the Tea Party rallies, does anyone really believe them anymore? The point is, Muslims are just not that into protesting against Islamists killing in the name of Allah. Many, many, many support it openly or quietly. Euronews reported that several hundred showed up, which is probably closer to the truth here. And they weren’t all Muslims. Go figure.

They carried signs that said, ‘Love for all, Hatred for none’. Yeah, right. The religion of peace is notoriously not peaceful, regardless of what they claim. The largest organization of Muslims in Germany, Ditib, refused to support the march. And the Turkish-Islamic Union openly spoke out against it. Saying something massively hypocritical and dumb, they claimed that to protest terrorism is to say it is solely an Islamic problem. It pretty much is. Let’s just say that over 90% of terrorism events are Islamic. They are giving themselves cover for actually supporting terrorism.

Clock Boy Family in Court AGAIN! Their Demands are Outrageous!!!

“Clock Boy” made international headlines in 2015 after he was falsely accused of bringing a bomb to school. His family threatened to sue, but ultimately, they left the country… and now, they’ve received some bad news about their potential lawsuits.

The story of “Clock Boy” quickly went viral: a 14-year-old Muslim boy, Ahmed Mohamed, brought a homemade clock to school to show to his engineering teacher. Unfortunately, the clock resembled a bomb, and when an alarm on the clock went off in another class, the teacher confiscated it, and he was sent to the principal’s office. He was then questioned by police for over an hour, before being handcuffed, taken to a juvenile detention facility, fingerprinted, and had a mug shot taken. Only after all of this was he finally allowed to see his parents.

Irving Police Chief Larry Boyd defended these actions, saying, “It was a very suspicious device. We live in an age where you can’t take things like that to school. Of course we’ve seen across our country horrific things happen. We have to err on the side of caution.” The charges against Mohamed were eventually dropped, but he was still suspended from school for three days. The family eventually moved to Qatar, but not before he got to meet Barack Obama at the White House, participate in Google’s science fair, and be featured in Time’s “Most Influential Teens of 2015” list.

US Soldiers Wounded In Latest "Insider" Attack At Afghan Base

Several US soldiers were wounded on Saturday after being shot by an Afghan soldier at a base in northern Afghanistan on Saturday, the third “insider” attack on US troops stationed in the country this year, and the second on one week. Initially conflicting reports emerged about the number of casualties in the attack, with Afghan officials telling Reuters that four US troops had been killed; that number has since been revised.

Here’s Reuters:

A spokesman for the U.S. military command in Kabul denied earlier comments by an Afghan official that Americans had been killed, but confirmed that an unspecified number of soldiers had been wounded at Camp Shaheen, the headquarters of the Afghan army's 209th Corps in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

At least one Afghan soldier was killed and another wounded, the U.S. official said. Abdul Qahar Araam, spokesman for the Afghan army's 209th Corps, had announced that an Afghan soldier shot and killed four U.S. troops inside the base.

The German military heads the multinational advising mission based in Mazar-i-Sharif. A spokeswoman for the German forces at the joint mission command in Potsdam said "according to what we know right now, no Germans were affected".

On June 11, three U.S. soldiers were killed and a fourth wounded when an Afghan soldier opened fire on them at a base in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province.

As of yet, no group has taken credit for Saturday’s attack. The Taliban took credit for a similar attack that unfolded a week ago in Eastern Afghanistan that left three US troops dead and one wounded.

Flashback: Author sees Islam’s 20-year plan for U.S.

Arab-American author outlined secret, in 2003

A refugee from the Muslim Middle East thinks he has discovered Islam’s 20-point plan for conquering the United States by 2020 – a plan revealed in the latest issue of Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

Anis Shorrosh, author of ”Islam Revealed” and ”The True Furqan,” is a Christian Arab-American who emigrated from Arab-controlled Jerusalem in January 1967.

”The following is my analysis of Islamic invasion of America, the agenda of Islamists and visible methods to take over America by the year 2020,” Shorrosh says. ”Will Americans continue to sleep through this invasion as they did when we were attacked on 9/11?”

1. Terminate America’s freedom of speech by replacing it with
statewide and nationwide hate-crime bills.

2. Wage a war of words using black leaders like Louis Farrakhan, Rev. Jesse Jackson and other visible religious personalities who promote Islam as the religion of African-Americans while insisting Christianity is for whites only. What they fail to tell African-Americans is that it was Arab Muslims who captured them and sold them as slaves. In fact, the Arabic word for black and slave is the same, ”Abed.”

Newt Gingrich: 'Legalistic nightmare' being formulated to block Trump's agenda

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called the investigation into Russian interference into the election, and if President Trump obstructed that investigation, is a "legalistic nightmare" that's trying to block his agenda.

Gingrich, an outspoken defender of Trump who is promoting a book he's written about the new president, said on ABC on Sunday that questions about whether Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein should follow Attorney General Jeff Sessions' lead and recuse himself from the Russia investigation are just a distraction.

Eisenhower's Open Letter to American Students

You might think that any comments from President Eisenhower would be hopelessly irrelevant and outdated. And yet, what he has to say about college seems particularly relevant to me in the economic situation of the early 21st century. Read his essay and my comments. Do you agree?

Governor Larry Hogan Leads Delegation of Maryland Businesses to Paris Air Show

World’s Largest Aerospace Show Attracts More Than 2,300 International Exhibitors

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Governor Larry Hogan is leading a delegation of eight Maryland businesses to the 52nd Paris Air Show, the world’s largest aerospace industry event. The State of Maryland will highlight a promotional booth at the weeklong show, which kicks off Monday, June 19 at Le Bourget Airport, where participating Maryland businesses will showcase their products and services. The governor and executive team will meet with many of the world’s top aerospace companies to promote the state’s thriving aerospace industry and to actively recruit investments and jobs for Maryland.

“Attending the Paris Air Show puts Maryland and our job creators in front of the senior decision-makers at top aerospace companies, as well as more than 2,300 international exhibitors looking to buy and sell products and services,” said Governor Hogan. “Our goal is to connect our Maryland companies with new trade and investment opportunities and to reinforce to this critical audience that Maryland is open for business.”

The Maryland companies exhibiting at the event are: ASTec Metalworks in Middle River; Applied Defense Solutions in Columbia; Jackson and Tull in Greenbelt; OCR Services in Rockville; Orbit Logic in Greenbelt; Planar Monolithics in Frederick; Tecore Networks in Hanover; and WGS Systems in Frederick. The majority of the companies attending received an ExportMD grant from Maryland Commerce to help offset the cost of the show.

“Home to key federal agencies, higher-education institutions, and many of the world’s top aerospace companies, Maryland is well-equipped to provide companies with the resources and workforce they need to succeed,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Mike Gill, who is accompanying the governor on this economic development mission. “The Paris Air Show is one of the best opportunities to not only increase Maryland’s visibility in the global market, but also promote the state’s outstanding climate for aerospace to international companies looking to expand in the United States.”

Where Exactly Is 'Safe' And Who Gets To Be 'Safe' In The World?

In the wake of recent mass shootings in the U.S., NPR's Michel Martin looks at our current political moment and ponders what it means to feel "safe."

I was thinking about how often last week I heard people talking about being safe. In part, that's a function of location. Our office is just a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol. And last week, a lot of people who work in and around politics were reeling from the shooting of the Republican lawmakers who'd been practicing for an annual charity benefit, a baseball game against the Democrats. The shooting happened in a charming neighborhood in Northern Virginia. And when I got off the elevator at work that morning, I overheard someone say, if you can't be safe there, where can you be?

Just today, earlier, I found myself with a half hour to spare so I stopped in a cafe I had wanted to check out. And when I sat down to savor my cup of whatever, I overheard a woman talking to her friend about how happy she was that her son would soon be home from a fellowship in Asia. She was saying only half-jokingly she wanted him out of striking distance of a North Korean missile. She wanted him to be safe. There's that word again - safe. Where exactly is it safe? And who gets to be safe?

One interesting detail, we were sitting on the same block where a young white man walked into a pizza shop last year and fired several rounds from a military-style rifle based on twisted Internet rumors of a child pornography ring that does not, for the millionth time, actually exist. Thankfully, he didn't kill anybody, including the real children at the restaurant that day before he was able to surrender to the police, nor was he harmed in any way.

Ten-year-old girl has arm severed by pit bull in Detroit

A ten-year-old girl had to have her arm reattached and nearly lost her foot after a dog escaped a Detroit house and mauled her while she was playing in a back yard at 1:15pm Saturday.

A neighbor, Ralphael Jackson, heard the girl's screams and ran across the road to fend it off with a shovel while the girl's aunt attempted to help and another person brought food to distract it.

'It wasn't even thinking about that food, because at this point, it smelled blood,' Jackson told Click On Detroit.

The dog was known to be aggressive and so was usually kept locked in a room upstairs when strangers were on the property, which is located on the 10700 block of Beaconsfield, Chief James Craig said.
