Twitter 'verifies' Bill Clinton 'son' - before Bubba does
Danney Williams is who he says he is — at least according to Twitter.
Twitter user Jack Posobiec notes the man who claims to be Bill Clinton’s son by a black prostitute was just “verified” by the social network, something the former president has yet to do.
Breaking: Twitter Just Verified Bill Clinton's Son@Danney_Williams
And it’s true.
Williams’ profile shows the blue check mark next to his name and near his profile description, “I’m the son of the 42nd President of the United States- Bill Clinton. #ClintonKid #BillClintonSon.”
Comey's Columbia leaker pal goes into hiding after testimony
Daniel Richman |
A Columbia University professor from Brooklyn went into hiding Thursday after pal James Comey revealed during his Senate testimony that the man leaked memos detailing the former FBI chief's conversations with President Trump to the press.
Daniel Richman confirmed by e-mail to several reporters that he was the 'good friend' and law school prof who Comey slipped the documents -- then hightailed it out of his tony Brooklyn Heights home and refused to answer any more questions.
Comey had just told a Senate Intelligence Committee that Richman was the conduit for the memo, which documented Trump asking Comey to drop the FBI's probe into former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn.
Richman is a former federal prosecutor who worked with Comey at Columbia in 2013. His Ivy League university's Web site crashed as people nationwide frantically tried to find out more about the mysterious middle man suddenly thrust into the biggest story in the country.

Wisconsin Requests Drug Test For Medicaid
Wisconsin submitted a federal request Wednesday to become the first state to drug test Medicaid applicants.
Republican Gov. Scott Walker told The New York Times that he is hopeful the Trump administration will approve the waiver, which also adds additional requirements for childless, able-bodied adults receiving Medicaid benefits.
Walker has modified the proposal after receiving over 1,000 public comments, which he attached to the waiver request before submitting it to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Walker softened the proposal slightly, eliminating an initial drug test for applicants who agree to enter a substance abuse treatment program and allowing applicants who initially refuse treatment to reapply when they are ready.
The waiver request has been harshly criticized by those who see the drug test requirement as just an additional obstacle standing in the way of the state’s most vulnerable people.

Delaware State fire official faces underage sex abuse charge
HARTLY — A local and state fire company official was arrested Wednesday after sexual abuse of a minor allegations, the Delaware State Police said.
John A. Metheny Sr., 72, of Hartly, was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child after turning himself in to Troop 3 detectives in Camden, authorities said on Thursday.
Attempts to reach Mr. Metheny and the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association Thursday were unsuccessful.

James Comey lost faith of Republicans and Democrats
Both Democrats and Republicans lost confidence in his leadership at the FBI
Since before President Trump was even inaugurated, the mainstream media has been on a mission to distort, discredit and delegitimize his presidency. On matters big and small, they have lied and misrepresented the president’s statements and actions, and now they’ve found a new hero: disgruntled former FBI Director James Comey.
The media’s latest line would have you believe that James Comey is a victim who was competently serving the nation until he was baselessly fired by Mr. Trump. But the facts tell a different story.
The record actually shows that Mr. Comey had lost the confidence of elected officials from both political parties and could no longer be trusted to serve as FBI director.

Alan Dershowitz Schools CNN Panel: ‘It Simply Is Not A Crime For the President to Exercise His Constitutional Authority’
Constitutional expert and famed Harvard law Professor, Alan Dershowitz, took on Jeffrey Toobin to discuss the ongoing Trump-Comey saga, saying in no uncertain terms that "this is not obstruction of justice."
He explains, "That is his constitutional power. He has the right to say, 'You will not investigate Flynn.’ The best proof of that is he could have simply said to Comey, ‘Stop the investigation, I’ve just pardoned Flynn.’”
To back up his assertions, Dershowitz reminded viewers of when Bush I pardoned Casper Weinberger the night before trial. After doing so, no one cried 'obstruction' because it was within the rights of the President of the United States to do so.
“That’s what President Bush did,” Dershowitz said, citing the case of Caspar Weinberger. “You cannot have obstruction of justice when the president exercises his constitutional authority to pardon, his constitutional authority to fire the director of the FBI, or his constitutional authority to tell the director of the FBI who to prosecute and who not to prosecute.”
He made the point that impeachment and obstruction are two entirely different things, which reduced Jeffrey Toobin to look like an 11th grade history student learning the constitution for the first time. The President can be impeached for all manners of things, but not for firing Comey and/or asking him to stop investigating Flynn -- because it is his right to do so.

In Washington, Is the Glass(-Steagall) Half Empty or Half Full?
This post was originally featured on Tom Dispatch.
Donald, listen, whatever you’ve done so far, whatever you’ve messed up, there’s one thing you could do that would make up for a lot. It would be huge! Terrific! It could change our world for the better in a big-league way! It could save us all from economic disaster! And it isn’t even hard to grasp or complicated to do. It’s simple, in fact. Reinstitute the Glass-Steagall Act. Let me explain.
In the world of romance, if you break up with someone, it’s pretty simple (emotional complications aside). You’re just not together anymore. In the world of financial regulation, it used to be as simple as that, too. It was like installing a traffic light at a dangerous intersection to avoid deaths. In 1933, when the Glass-Steagall Act was passed, it helped break up the biggest banks of the day and for good reason: they had had a major hand in triggering the most disastrous economic depression our country ever experienced.
Certain divisions of those banks were no longer allowed to coexist with others. The law split the parts of banks that placed bets by creating and trading certain risky securities and those that took deposits and provided loans. In other words, it ensured that the investment bank and the commercial bank would no longer cohabit. Put another way, it separated bankers with a heinous gambling habit from those who only wanted a secure nest egg. It was simplicity itself.

Perfect attendance means free bikes for Prince George’s middle schoolers
LAUREL, Md. — More than 160 seventh-graders will be starting their summer with new bikes, all thanks to their perfect attendance.
School officials at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School, in Laurel, said they offered students a free bicycle at the beginning of the year if they maintained perfect attendance for the school year.
At first, they said they were expecting about 60 or 70 bikes would be given out.
But as the year ended, they realized that 166 students had perfect attendance this school year — almost half the class.
“Seventh grade is definitely that adolescent year where we see a lot of struggles,” principal John Mangrum said, adding that making sure students are in class creates a stronger foundation for future growth.

Walmart And Amazon Know The Terrible Truth: The American Middle Class Is Dying
A lot of people were probably thrilled today about Amazon’s latest announcement. The online retail giant has revealed that they are going to reduce the cost of Prime membership, which provides free shipping for more orders and unlimited streaming for many shows and movies. But it’s not just for anyone. The reduced rate will be reserved for low income households.
Customers normally pay $10.99 per month or $99 per year for Prime subscriptions, which offers free two-day shipping on many products as well as access to streaming video and music services.
Now anyone with a state-issued debit card for government benefits can get Prime for $5.99 a month.
The aim is to make “savings more accessible” to everyone, according to spokeswoman Julie Law. She adds that delivery could make life easier for customers who may not have reliable access to transportation, and that Prime gives members discounts on essentials like diapers.
Amazon(AMZN, Tech30) already has a well-heeled customer base, according to analysts. With this program, it hopes to pull in more low-income shoppers.
It sounds like good news, but it’s really not. Not when you look at the bigger picture. Consider the fact that Amazon Prime memberships were originally targeted at high income earners. In fact, 70% of households that earn more than $112,000 per year have Amazon Prime memberships, compar

Obstruction Of Justice Case Dismantled By Senator Risch
While this is not a highlight you'll ever see replayed on any MSM outlet throughout the day, Senator Jim Risch just completely dismantled any 'hopes' of an obstruction of justice case against President Trump with the following exchange:
MoreRisch: "Boy you nailed this down on page 5 paragraph 3, you put this in quotes, words matter, you wrote down the words so we could all have the words in front of us now. There are 28 words there that are in quotes and it says, 'I hope', this is the President speaking, 'I hope you can see your way claer to letting this go, to letting Flynn go...I hope you can let this go.'""Now those are his exact words, is that correct"Comey: "Correct."Risch: "And you wrote them here and you put them in quotes?"Comey: "Correct."Risch: "Thank you for that. He did not direct you to let it go."Comey: "Not in his words, no."Risch: "He did not order you to let it go."Comey: "Again, those words are not an order."Risch: "He said 'I hope'. Now, like me you probably did 100's of cases, maybe 1,000s of cases charging people with criminal offenses. And, of course, you have knowlege of the 1,000s of cases out there where people have been charged. Do you know of any case where a person has been charged for obstruction of justice, for that matter of any other criminal offense, where they said or thought they hoped for an outcome?"Comey: "I don't know well enough to answer. And the reason I keep saying 'his words' is I took it as a direction..."Risch: "You may have taken it as a direction but that is not what he said. He said, 'I hope.' You don't know of anyone who has ever been charged for hoping something, is that a fair statement?"Comey: "I don't as I sit here."

Don't Mess with Pistol-Packing Parents: Indiana Mother Fatally Shoots Intruder
A mother fatally shot a man who was trying to break into her Indianapolis home on Wednesday.
The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, heard someone breaking into her apartment. She was home with her three children and one other child – all under the age of seven – when the incident occurred.
She came face to face with the armed suspect, identified as 19-year-old Michael Hawkins, before she opened fire, reports Fox 59.
This is the second time in a week that an Indianapolis parent has been forced to shoot a home intruder. On Tuesday a father shot an 18-year-old suspect during a home invasion on the city’s northeast side. Investigators said that 18-year-old Derrick Johnson Jr., was pronounced dead on the scene after trying to enter the residence.
“It is disheartening that we see burglaries resulting in death, but we live in Indiana and it’s legal for people to have guns to protect themselves,”said IMPD officer Aaron Hamer.
Area residents say they hope criminals will think twice before breaking into other people’s homes.

Comey Promised 'Honest Loyalty' to the President, But Didn't Deliver
The former FBI director conveniently became much more "honest" after he got fired.
James Comey: the man who always tries to have it both ways, and sometimes succeeds.
The former FBI director's testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday was a feast of contradiction and self-serving showmanship.
Comey said he felt uncomfortable with the president's pressure to drop an investigation into Michael Flynn, Trump's first national security adviser. So uncomfortable that he wrote memos after conversations with the president, to record what was said by whom. But Comey kept all of this information closely held until he was fired and never tried to challenge the president directly in these conversations. So just how uncomfortable was he?

Busy Night In OC Includes Two Shooting Incidents, Stabbing
OCEAN CITY — A hectic Thursday night in Ocean City included a drive-by shooting, a stabbing and the accidental discharge of a gun on the beach.
On Friday morning, members of the Ocean City Police Department were restricting access to the beach in the area between 81st and 85th streets to allow authorities to canvas the sand for evidence related to a shooting nearby. Dogs were called to the scene to search for evidence and metal detectors were reportedly going to be utilized on Friday.
In that incident, according to Ocean City Police Public Affairs Specialist Lindsay Richard, an individual accidently discharged a gun and then disposed of it on the beach. The individual suffered minor injuries.
“The safety of our residents and visitors is our first priority and until we exhaust every effort to ensure that the weapon is not on the beach, we will keep the beach closed in the suspected area,” Richard said. “Out of an overabundance of caution, officers have been working throughout the morning using a variety of search techniques to locate the weapon. Anyone with information is asked to call our Crime Tip Hotline at 410-520-5136 immediately. We appreciate the patience of residents and visitors as officers diligently work to resolve the issue.”

J.Edgar Comey's Big Fat Nothingburger
Comey’s ballyhooed testimony contained nothing not already known. It had nothing remotely about obstruction of justice and nothing that matters at all. It’s just a replay of what Comey has been leaking all along.
Indeed, it’s the Nothingburger that proves Imperial Washington has become completely unhinged in its groundless RussiaGate hysteria. Washington is stumbling toward a lawless defenestration of a sitting president in the name of a hypocritical obeisance to a tortured version of “the law”.
It is a smoking gun in only one sense: It proves why Comey should have been fired on day one and why the Wall Street assumption that it can count on “Washington governance as usual” is so dangerously misguided.

Barack Obama's Post-Presidential World Tour is Starting to Get Creepy
Once out of office, former Presidents exit the global scene, preferring—usually—to retire someplace quiet to play golf, give speeches, champion a charity, or do arts and crafts. For some reason, though, President Barack Obama just can’t quite let being President go.
Tuesday night, Obama was spotted dining out with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, just hours after Trudeau flouted current President Donald Trump with a NATO plan that suggests the international community simply wait out the current President to make any changes.

Trudeau and Obama bro-ed out, sharing laughs, hugging, and ordering top notch cuisine at one of Montreal’s hottest restaurants, Liverpool House. The two reportedly noshed on the restaurant’s famous oysters, steak and lobster spaghetti, topped off by strawberry shortcake—how adorable.

Drug Overdose Deaths Pass 2,000 In 2016 In Maryland
BALTIMORE, MD — Misuse of painkillers and illicit opioids such as heroin — which in recent months has been laced with the powerful sedative fentanyl and even elephant tranquilizers — led to a record number of fatal drug overdoses in Maryland in 2016. State officials released the grim tally Thursday, which said a record 2,089 people died from overdoses last year, a 66 percent increase from 2015’s data. The largest surge was seen in residents 55 and older.
Police and emergency responders across Maryland have seen fentanyl mixed with heroin accelerate the number of overdoses. The pain-killing drug given by hospitals to surgery patients is much stronger, and users are taking the same dosage, which their bodies can’t handle. And in 2017, strings of overdoses, both fatal and non-fatal, were tied to carfentanil, a large animal tranquilizer, being added to illicit drugs.
According to new numbers released by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the 2,089 overdose deaths reported last year surpassed the 1,259 overdose deaths that occurred in all of 2015 statewide.

Comey Rips ‘New York Times’ for Stories That Are ‘Just Dead Wrong’
Former FBI Director James Comey said little to surprise either supporters or critics of the Donald Trump administration in his appearance before Congress Thursday. But his harsh criticism of the mainstream media likely shocked the news organizations that had prepared all week for his “groundbreaking” testimony.
In his statements, Comey re-iterated that he believed Trump was trying to exert influence over the FBI’s investigation into former Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, and that the White House “lied” in its explanation for firing the controversial FBI director. But Comey also corroborated Trump’s account that he was told by Comey he was not under investigation.

But Comey also lashed out at the New York Times and others, like the Washington Post and CNN, who have been eager to publish leaks and scoops, saying the mainstream media is a voracious monster that almost always gets it wrong, particularly when it comes to Russia.

Snowden on Comey: 'It Seems the FBI Director Agrees' with Leaking
NSA whistleblower defends leaking to press amid Comey revelation

Lynch Pressured FBI To Downplay Clinton Email Investigation
Loretta Lynch, the former attorney general under Barack Obama, pressured former FBI Director James Comey to downplay the Clinton email server investigation and only refer to it as a “matter,” Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.
Comey said that when he asked Lynch if she was going to authorize him to confirm the existence of the Clinton email investigation, her answer was, “Yes, but don’t call it that. Call it a matter.” When Comey asked why, he said, Lynch wouldn’t give him an explanation. “Just call it a matter,” she said.
Comey added later that he was concerned about that direction as it was false. He was further concerned because it aligned with the Clinton campaign’s spin on the investigation.

Undercover police link resort prostitution to drug addiction
The rise of opioid use in the area has produced another side-effect, according to Ocean City Police, as undercover narcotics detectives are noticing a corresponding increase in prostitution.
“Most of the prostitutes we run into have some sort of chemical dependency, and opioid addiction is the number one thing we see,” said Detective “John Doe” of the Narcotics Unit. “It’s no different if I was addicted. Every day is about the hunt to get high or to prevent myself from getting sick from withdrawal. I got to find that money somehow. I beg, borrow or steal. Girls, they prostitute.”
He added that heroin investigations often cross paths with prostitution schemes. Doe, who has been working in OCPD’s narcotics unit for 17 years, said that human trafficking investigations began gradually after tip-offs from informants, as was the case last month.
