A new survey reveals that young people believe being called a “snowflake” could be damaging to their mental health.
A new survey by insurance firm Aviva found that 72 percent of 16 to 24-year-olds believethe term “snowflake” is unfairly applied to millennials. 74 percent of respondents took it a step farther, arguing that they believe the use of the label could have a negative effect on young people’s mental health.
The study was born out of interest in the term “snowflake generation” which was originally used to describe young people who thought they were unique or special. Some suggest it was popularized by a line in the 1996 novel Fight Club and its 1999 film adaptation: “you are not special, you are not a beautiful and unique snowflake.” The word’s meaning eventually evolved to mean “overly-sensitive.” It is often used to describe college students who claim that they are offended by controversial or even mundane ideas.

No-- what's damaging to their mental health is all the liberal hand-holding and coddling that turned them into snowflakes in the first place.
They are deeply programmed on a path to total failure. Embalmed in self-esteem.
Not really their fault, but they are the only ones who can fix it. They will have to grasp reality with both hands and adjust themselves to fit.
We who understand this can be more helpful by guiding them in the process.. gently, but firmly. Not condescending, but lovingly showing them the truth.
Snowflake, snowflake, snowflake!!! Maybe mommy or daddy should had busted their ass when they were growing up and they would be so damn entitled or such whinny little turds.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about their "mental health." If they can't handle words then their pathetic little arses need to crawl in a hole somewhere never to emerge.
ReplyDeleteAnd what happens when people whimper and can't stand up for themselves?
ReplyDeleteThey need strong leaders! And who will be those leaders?
Cant damage whats already broke...
ReplyDeleteOld people are the reason the country is where it is right now. You have voted all these people in over the last 60 years not the young people. Not to mention you old people are the ones who raised these young snowflakes. When the government said we're going to tax you for ditches. You old people said yes please tax me more. You bent over and let the government give you a big one all cause being a good sheep is patriotic. And you have been doing it for 60+ years. I know being old gives you experience but it doesn't give you intelligence or driving skills. Just saying :)
ReplyDelete224, amen the baby boomers are the greediest generation in history. Not one tear will be shed when the last one croaks!!! -conservative millennial
DeleteWow. What an expert you are. Just remembered this you will be old some day and I do hope you will be attacked verbally because you are old. No respect. If not happy with America I suggest that you really get involved in changing it or move to another country. Just saying - from a old person who gets out of bed before noon and votes not just lip service.Happy ageing!
DeleteOLD SAYING: "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names can never hurt me". If snowflake is the worst name you are ever called, consider yourself lucky.
ReplyDeleteAwww, those poor Snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteBeing that they are offended is the definition of snowflake

stop acting like lil snowflakes then. you youngens know next to nothing but your mouths keep running like ur in a marathon.
ReplyDeleteTheir mental health was damaged by 8 years of Obama. Calling them a snowflake simply enlightened then to the reality.
ReplyDeleteAwwww. Now go pull weeds.
ReplyDeleteLiberals need more insane asylums built for them.
ReplyDeleteThese snowflakes don't have much mental health to begin with!
ReplyDeleteBetween the false narratives (progressive indoctrination) taught in colleges and as 2:57 stated concerning 8 years of Obama administration it is no wonder the 18-28 year olds are so delicate and thin skinned when faced with real life.
ReplyDeleteNo that damage was already done thanks to government/public schools and mommy and daddy...
ReplyDeleteI do have sympathy for those Millennials who behave like adults, not deserving of being insulted by the term. We know who the snowflakes are, and the name should be reserved just for them, not applied to everyone of the generation.
ReplyDeleteThank you! -conservative millennial
DeleteIf you don't want to be called a snowflake then stop acting like a snowflake.
ReplyDeleteIf you walk like a duck,
