Telecom giant AT&T was quick to respond to news of U.S. tax reform, announcing it would give some employees bonuses once the legislation is signed into law.
AT&T said in a press release Wednesday that it would give more than 200,000 of its U.S. workers who are union members a special bonus of $1,000. The company also increased its capital expenditures budget by $1 billion in the U.S.
"Congress, working closely with the President, took a monumental step to bring taxes paid by U.S. businesses in line with the rest of the industrialized world," CEO Randall Stephenson said in a statement. "This tax reform will drive economic growth and create good-paying jobs. In fact, we will increase our U.S. investment and pay a special bonus to our U.S. employees."

Now if Day and the rest of the clown politicians in Sby had any brains and guts they would be calling for the local chicken slaughter house to give these same kind of bonuses and raise starting wages to $15/hr. This would boost the local economy like no one has ever seen before. But they won't. The combined IQ between all of them is somewhere in the Idiot/Moron/Imbecile range. They think some festival is the answer.
ReplyDelete11:42am Watch who you call a dummy, dummy.
ReplyDeleteGovernment pressure and interference is almost never the answer. If it was, then the min wage would already be at 15/hr. But, its not.
What you see here is, maybe not the correct way but, a better way. When you create incentives correctly government does not need to strong arm anyone into anything. Businesses will do what is in their best interests. It is no wonder that businesses are jumping at the chance to lower their tax bill. BECAUSE WE ARE TAXED TO DEATH!!!!! Up to 40% of your hard earned wages and profits got directly to the government. That's obscene. Only to have them turn around and spend that money in ways that most people don't agree with.
12:14 Calling for and forcing by passing legislation are 2 different things.
ReplyDeletePerdue won't do anything special for their employees, especially at the chicken plants. The average once a year increase is 3% if you're lucky, and the once a year "bonus" to share their HUGE profits is about $200 for hourly employees in the office. They pay like it's 20 years ago with the attitude that you should be grateful to have a job while they keep loading you up with more responsibility with no extra compensation, but that's the shore I guess. And Jim just bought a new house in Vail thanks to his employee's hard work and his daddy's money. And I seriously doubt that the boy wonder has any influence over his daddy at Perdue to do the right thing.
