SALISBURY AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PARTNERS WITH STASH YOUR TRASH TO LAUNCH LITTER FREE ZONE CAMPAIGN

WHO: Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Beautification committee members, the City of Salisbury and the local business community

WHAT: Litter Free Zone Campaign Kick-Off Press Conference

• To include success stories from a local company and organization who are designated as “Certified Litter Free Zones.”

WHERE: Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce
144 East Main Street
Downtown Salisbury

WHEN: October 3, 2017, 8:30am

Imagine a litter free Salisbury! The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Beautification committee (under the Stash Your Trash halo), has made it their mission - but not without help from local businesses, community organizations and support from the City of Salisbury.

A “Litter Free Zone” checklist will be distributed to chamber members and made available in the chamber office for community organizations to access. By initiating and checking off multiple litter free tasks on the list, a business/organization earns the “Litter Free Zone” designation and will receive an official certificate from the chamber in addition to external promotion. The chamber will recognize all businesses who make the commitment to meeting “Litter Free” initiatives in the Salisbury Business Journal and other local media outlets.

  1. They should go to a certain area of the city where blacks live, oh wait, that's all over da Ghetto 'Bury, and get them to pick up their own trash. Or get City Council President Louise Smith to get people to pick it up for them.

  2. How about you work on bringing JOBS to the area. Ya know the kind of jobs that pay a livable wage with benefit. I know most employers here have never heard of such a thing but I hear they do exist..

    This place is ridiculous.

  3. How much is this "campaign" costing tax payers? The mayor and the rest of them need to check in their drawers and see if they have a set in there. Be a man and just tell the SOB's to stop throwing their trash on the ground!

I say throw your trash in the streets , in the gutters , on the lawns , in the parking lots and anywhere you want. WE have gone so far down hill it's way too late to do the right thing , we don't even know what the right thing is. Open your Bible and read , then you will know.

  7. "The chamber will recognize all businesses who make the commitment to meeting “Litter Free” initiatives"

Another participation medal.. All you have to do is "make the commitment" You don't actually have to participate, just say you are.

    What a back handed insult.

Most business are lazy aholes so we have to make a program to get them to clean up trash around their property and give them a worthless atta boy to get them to participate?

What first grader thought this up and who is the idiot boss that said, yea that's a great idea! And you got the luxury of paying someone to come up with this.

If business owners were cleaning up their properties we wouldn't have wasted money on this. Did the chamber put the bosses 10 year old on the payroll because it sure looks like it.

  10. Take a walk down any street north of North Boulevard and check out the trash on streets, sidewalks and yards. For some people, the world is their trashcan.

  11. There's minivans going street to street tossing litter in plastic bags at every house and Day can't seem to stop them. I say take your trash cans to his doorstep and empty them there.

    F.U. Day.

  12. This is what amazes me about Jake day and the city of Salisbury. They finally admit tom Stevenson was in way over his head and "CREATE" a whole new position in public works for carrying over probably 100,000 year salary to basically be the so called person in charge to ensure Salisbury's beautification and cleanliness. Anyone that knows this guy this should have been perfect for his anal obsessive behavior but I guess after being appointed bynhis buddies to administrator then having it taken away he's taking that cushy high paying buddy buddy position and saying the hell with actually doing any work for it yet he gets a paid trip to survey how to organize the upcoming folk festival

  14. If this sounds racial I could care less but the black neighborhoods are a mess. Trash everywhere. It's disgusting how they live. If they had any morals they would be ashamed.

  15. Would rather have a "crime free" zone. Just saying,

  16. Great idea! Start with taking out the trash in Day's administration.

  17. Entitled cigarette smokers should be fined first. They throw their butts everywhere

  18. Blacks have abandoned their old motto Black Pride. You would think they would make sure their neighborhoods and all areas they go to would be kept spotless then they would really have something to be proud of.

  19. Someone keeps throwing trash out on Morris Mill Road. But that's ok, because I am going to catch them. Guess they never heard of cameras.
