Let this sink in for a minute....

Let this sink in for a minute.....Hundreds and hundreds of small boats pulled by countless pickups and SUVs from across the South are headed for Houston. Almost all of them driven by men. They're using their own property, sacrificing their own time, spending their own money, and risking their own lives for one reason: to help total strangers in desperate need.

Most of them are by themselves. Most are dressed like the redneck duck hunters and bass fisherman they are. Many are veterans. Most are wearing well-used gimme-hats, t-shirts, and jeans; and there's a preponderance of camo. Most are probably gun owners, and most probably voted for Trump.

These are the people the Left loves to hate, the ones Maddow mocks. The ones Maher and Olbermann just *know* they're so much better than.

These are The Quiet Ones. They don't wear masks and tear down statues. They don't, as a rule, march and demonstrate. And most have probably never been in a Whole Foods.

But they'll spend the next several days wading in cold, dirty water; dodging gators and water moccasins and fire ants; eating whatever meager rations are available; and sleeping wherever they can in dirty, damp clothes. Their reward is the tears and the hugs and the smiles from the terrified people they help. They'll deliver one boatload, and then go back for more.

When disaster strikes, it's what men do. Real men. Heroic men. American men. And then they'll knock back a few shots, or a few beers with like-minded men they've never met before, and talk about fish, or ten-point bucks, or the benefits of hollow-point ammo, or their F-150.

And the next time they hear someone talk about "the patriarchy", or "male privilege", they'll snort, turn off the TV and go to bed.

In the meantime, they'll likely be up again before dawn. To do it again. Until the helpless are rescued. And the work's done.

They're unlikely to be reimbursed. There won't be medals. They won't care. They're heroes. And it's what they do.

    4. 9:32 youre an idiot
Don't you remember the young black kid who stole a bus to save dozens in Katrina? Or the group of Mexicans who formed a chain to save a baby from a flooded car? Heros come in all colors.

  8. If it weren't for people like these, this country would have been history long ago. These people are the backbone and foundation of this country and their names will never be on a statue or wall and those who "have it all" or profess to know it all would not be where they are today if not for these unspoken heroes

  12. I applaud them for doing so. They are lucky that they are able because not everyone can leave their job or responsibilities at home to help during disasters.

  15. Where is old man John McCain? He is a legend in his own mind. Haven't heard of the Nude Swimmer of Delaware. Mr. Biden should be floating around buck naked with his shotgun to keep off looters. There are so many self made hero's that never surface in times of need.

  16. Don't be so sure they all voted for Trump. These men are altruistic and unique . Self made and sufficient and not falling for any of the Federal BS and the New Yorker President their inbred lesser cousins voted for. Men of free will and endeavor are anarchistic.

  17. I only hope we have some of these types of people if, God forbid, it happens here. I hope the judgemental people would not be "selective" in their rescue efforts.

  19. And they don't sit down to pee at Target, or kneel when the anthem is played.
Many thanks to these volunteers. These are exactly the people who are making America great again. And We salute you.

  20. Wait for it, it's coming; the comparisons between Harvey and Katrina, between New Orleans and Houston, between rescuing those who want to be rescued so that they can rebuild their lives and those that were dependents of the government and just waited for the government to give them back what they lost. Yes its coming folks, it will become about race, and how the people of America are rushing to help the victims of Harvey to rebuild their lives; whereas the victims of Katrina just waited and complained that the government wasn't giving them their entitlements (food, shelter, cell phones, etc.). Victims of natural disasters do act and react differently depending on whether they are dependents of government welfare programs, or self sufficient citizens. That is why we are seeing the totally different response to the victims of Katrina and the victims of Harvey. The response of the victims are totally different, not necessarily because of race, but because of dependence on government programs which results in a total lack of self sufficiency.

  21. 9:14.....

You use, as an example of heroism, some who STOLE something (your words)????
    Pay closer attention.
Hordes of white people ARE moving trucks and boats towards Houston to help.
Hordes of pansie-ass sissies are still kinda busy rewriting history and destroying stuff. Telling everyone how badly they've been hurt by words and statues.
THEY are too busy wallowing in their made-up misery that they don't have the time for helping. Helping ANYONE has NEVER been in their playbook.
Okay, the commercials are off on CNN. Go back to cheering their narratives.

  22. There were looters in TX who shot at rescuers in boats. There will always be those who will take advantage of such disasters for their own benefit. No matter where they happen. So sad.
