School status announcement going out now from Principal Briggs for James M. Bennett High families:

Hello parents, this is Principal Rick Briggs with a school status announcement. Right now our school is in a precautionary safe in place status to address a school safety incident. This morning between 3rd and 4th periods our school had a series of altercations involving a small number of students. Those students have been detained and will be properly dealt with to ensure that a safe and orderly learning environment continues for the remainder of the student body. All students are safe and instruction will continue for the rest of the day with abbreviated class changes. We encourage parents to allow their students to remain at school, but parents are permitted to sign out their students if they wish. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work with law enforcement to investigate this incident and ensure a safe learning environment for our students and staff.

And as I can update you with more information, I most certainly will.

Thank you for your continued support of our JMB students and staff.

  4. A PRECAUTIONARY safe in place status to address a school safety incident. What in the hell does that mean?
A series of ALTERCATIONS how about a a bunch of juvenile thugs intimidating and beating up fellow students
We encourage the parents to leave their kids in school.(Please don't take them out we'll look bad if you do.
Those students detained will be properly dealt with (Such as?) Criminally Charged? Expelled? Suspended? Sent to the corner of the room with a Dunce Hat?
Most likely scheduled to see a Guidance Councilor to have their anger management issues discussed.
Another Post read a MASSIVE GANG Fight that forced the deployment of every single police officer available to respond. Thats a lot of personnel folks.
Bottom Line somebody had better get their s@@t together and start doing something about these junior criminals before its over there will be a stabbing or shooting at these schools. If the truth were known the "educators") are probably shaking in their shoes and I don't blame them.

  5. Wicomico County schools are not allowed to discipline students any more because too many minority students were getting referrals. The kids are getting worst and nothing is getting done to correct the problems.

  6. This town is ruined! Its a perfect example of liberal agenda. Establish large voter base incapable of taking care of themselves. Give them section 8 housing give them pizza parties. Turn blind eye to there criminal escapades. As a result every hardworking person or family that can leaves town. Step two control media, spin stories about crime, squash crime statistics. Why do they do this the college is a money maker for this town. So they keep crime stories down think about it would parents be so hot on sending there kids to a crime riddled cesspool which salisbury truly is. I SAY IT AGAIN THIS TOWN IS DOOMED 80 PERCENT OF ITS CITIZENS RENT(SUBSIDY) ITS LIBERAL HEAVEN. MONEYS AT THE TOP IN THE LANDLORDS HANDS (GILLIS,GILKERSON, THE SAME OLD SAME OLD PLAYERS). THIS TOWN IN RUINED CONGRATULATIONS LIBERALS YOU WON. HERES YOUR PRIZE KEEP IT.

  7. Salisbury has been declining since 1980 under the great Reagan years. Big corporations started closing and moving out of the area. There was nothing done locally to retain or replace those businesses. Over the past 30+ years, the only jobs here are service and retail minimum wage jobs. There were construction jobs before the bubble but very few were smart enough to bank/save their money and instead refinanced everything to buy bigger homes and toys which are long gone now. The only people making money here are doctors, lawyers, dentists, slum lords and business owners. Everyone else is struggling.

  9. The sheriff's office needs two deputies at every high school and if the board does not want to pay for it, the Sheriff should pull every deputy out. I have heard that there has been 3 or four deputies hurt in the last 6 months in the school division. So bad they missed time from work. It is unsafe for a deputy to be in a building with this violence that is occurring EVERY DAY and be by himself!!!!!
