WANTED PERSON: DO YOU KNOW KATIE COOK?
Earlier this week Katie May Cook, (according to witnesses) was driving at an extremely high rate of speed south bound on Powellville Road. As she went through the "S" curve at the pond she started to lose control of her 2004 Ford Taurus. As the vehicle went out of control she ultimately went off the road and struck a car and a home. Upon impact there was glass everywhere and a lot of body damage to her vehicle. Since she hit the corner of the residence, the foundation shifted to a point the occupant could not open the side door for quite some time. By the time they were able to pry the door open, Katie had taken off and State Police declared this a hit and run.
Katie disappeared and is now at large. We learned last night she's gone as far as Jessup, Maryland. She has admitted to what she had done to another witness and a warrant is being drawn up for her immediate arrest.
If you know Katie and or can get in contact with her, she needs to turn herself in immediately. If she continues to run it will only be worse for her.
So you know, I am the owner of this property. Katie is obviously scared. Please tell her, (if you can get in contact with her) I said, accidents happen. It's not the end of the world and everything can easily be worked out. Please, turn yourself in before you destroy your life. It's just not worth it.
UPDATE: Please contact Maryland State Trooper Lane at 410-749-5757 if you have any updates on this person.

ReplyDeleteWe need more people like this homeowner in the world!!!! This alone made my week! God Bless You!!!
ReplyDeleteShe should know she'll not get any time out of this.I know because I did a similar thing once. She should turn herself in because she'll be in & out with probation and an agreement to pay restitution.A major issue to the homeowner or renter is often an easy fix for the court. No biggie here.
ReplyDeleteBeen thru a similar experience. Probably DWI and she had no insurance. That's the problem with MD - there are no controls in place to ensure driver's have insurance. The MVA will treat you as the guilty party and they don't care. Trust me, I've been thru it twice.
ReplyDeleteNo one should left to OD
ReplyDeleteBut why do people expect to see harsh penalties for things like this? They think they're looking at hard time if they do the right thing.Silly woman.
ReplyDeleteThe Katie Cook that I know is in her early 20's I believe and comes from a good family. I hope this isn't here.
ReplyDeleteMy bet is that the driver was also using a cellphone during the event, driving one-handed around that curve.
ReplyDeleteBooo 843am Booooo Hisss.
ReplyDeleteIf you play you should pay.
DeleteDon't worry. She'll show up and turn herself in, now that she's had time to sober up. A couple of fines and she'll be on her way again.
ReplyDelete10:39 that is not my KC's car, for sure !!
ReplyDeleteThe writer states "if she continues to run, it will only get worse for her". Please tell me, how will it get "worse" for her? If she has an open warrant for her arrest, she will get arrested just like she will if she turns herself in. People say the craziest things.
ReplyDeleteBecause the longer she is on the run the worse the sentence can be for her. If she turns herself in then the judge and property owner is more likely to be a little easier on her. Or if she is hiding out somewhere with anyone that person could be charged as well with harboring a fugitive.
DeleteSimply NOT TRUE!! Please don't speak about things that you know nothing about. There are sentencing guidelines that must be followed. She could simply say that she had no idea anyone was looking for her. She could say she had a head injury from the accident that caused her to lose memory of the incident. You really have no idea what you are talking about and sound foolish. Scare tactics only work on the uneducated. You are merely speculating.
Delete4:42 is exactly right. If this person shows no remorse then she will pay the price. She has already admitted to the crime but continues to run. There's no question, in time she will be found.
