Do You Think Saturday Night Live Has Gone Too Far?

Before you give your response I thought I'd share my point of view.

You see, I/We have the choice of turning on the program, or not. I do not turn on Saturday Night Live and haven't done so since my high school days, just being honest.

However, we've all seen clips on television of them cracking on EVERY President. Chevy Chase used to crack on President Ford, tripping and falling all the time. The list goes on and on.

President Trump truly needs to get thicker skin, it's COMEDY! It's FREE SPEECH! Ultimately, he has a country to run and rebuild.

Just my opinion.

  2. Well unfortunately, most people will continue to watch, or turn on the TV to these shows, just as they will continue to buy or pay for cell phone usages via Verizon or get internet via Comcast, and get on here and complain about it instead of doing something about it... Then they will start to blame you all for not standing up for their lazy stupid ass... They won't stop paying and they won't do something to help fight it but they sure as hell will be here complaining about how they don't like it, yet still use it...

  3. I dunno, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery in some parts. SNL doing Obama, Bush, Hillary, Bill, Dick, et al wasn't out of spite.

TV is starting to borderline on the hate factor, which we know the youngins just suck in.

Me? I just laugh at our entertainers and knowingly understand there is difference between acting and governing. Hoping the acting part doesn't interfere with the real life.

Suppose to be almost 60 tomorrow and 60 on Wed...BONUS fishing IMO!!!!!!!!

  4. I don't have a problem with these shows spewing this garbage. I would watch if they were humorous, like the old Chevy Chase bits. Now it is crash and burn and they are trying to influence people with lies. The biggest problem is that the young people believe these shows are newsworthy.

  8. I don't watch the show when it first came on I tried, but it's not funny. Have seen clips on the news, still not funny. Political satire is one thing, but most have crossed that line into vicious attacks and feel they have the right to bully certain people.

  9. I agree. Comedy is comedy. And it wouldn't be funny if it wasn't at least half-true.
The more Trump let's it get under his skin, the more SNL will keep doing it. Trump is letting it happen. Someone PLEAE take his phone away unless he behaves. Use it for 'official tweets' only, so his message gets directly to the people, instead of via the MSM propaganda filters.

  10. 1/3 of the entire show was ripping on Trump. Before Trump, they would leave the political satire for just the beginning, before the monologue, and a couple comments during the "news" segment. Now it is about 30 minutes of them doing their best to make him look bad and that he is the devil. It has become SNL's agenda, as it would appear. Somewhere during the campaign they aligned themselves with other fake news comedies, like Samantha Bee or the Daily Show. I can't stand either of the two. Samantha Bee just going Nancy Grace and screaming at the camera for 30 minutes, no thank you. Trevor, an immigrant, bitching about our president! WTF! He needs to be deported. I still watch SNL, every now and then they strike gold, but I definitely fast forward through a lot crap to find it. The episode with Dave Chapelle was pretty decent, but I think that was all the work of the Host.

  11. They're going to chew that bone right down to a nub, week after week, until it's funny to almost no one.

  12. I'm tired of these idiots making fun of my president on issues that are of the utmost importance . We have a serious problem and we need to be serious about it.

  13. What if someone assassinated Alec Baldwin thinking he was Trump?

  14. love everything Melissa McCarthy does. She was very funny. If Spicer has a sense of humor, he will show up with "props" at his next press briefing.

  15. I used to like her until she reported fake news. And then went on a rant about white men....I think once in a while it's funny but President Trump is in the news 24/7 mostly all fake and negative. I don't think it's right and mainstream media is making America more dangerous... Thank you President Trump for doing what you promised

  17. We don't watch those Democrat late night shows with haters of Trump and his team.

  18. Frankly, shows like Saturday Night Live should not be aloud to air unless they are going to get onboard with supporting our government and making some jokes that are actually funny. Most of their crap is leftist and is not funny at all, and it is creating a wrong feeling that it is OK to make fun of our president just because they are still crying that they lost. But America-hating shows like this are just plain wrong and shouldn't be on television anymore that is just my opinion.

  19. That pesky 1st amendment....can't we just get rid of it and make the 2nd amendment be the first one? You people are so entertaining.

  20. Humor has no boundaries! If it ever does have them, it's over.

  21. Actually satire and genuine comedy are funny and entertaining!

In a nutshell, SNL's long-standing problem is that it consistently fails to deliver. Early cast members were sharp and funny; later staff much less so. On a good day, it's merely low-brow. Consistently just a Democrat spigot.

Across time, all administrations do things or say things that would be fair to make fun of. Obama and Clinton(s) always got the kid glove treatment.

So they have a broad, constitutionally protected avenue to spew and harangue and twist and mislead on. Problem is they mostly drive on the sidewalk. Literally have enjoyed not tuning in for several decades. Most of what passes for comedy everywhere just doesn't pass muster anymore.
