The Worcester County Commissioners have scheduled a public hearing for Feb. 21 to consider a proposed zoning amendment that would reduce separation distances for cell towers in heavily traveled roads and highways.
Deputy Director of Planning Phyllis Wimbrow said the amendment was submitted on behalf of the Columbia-based Cellco Partnership, operating under the Verizon Wireless moniker.
“This application seeks to amend the zoning code to allow for greater flexibility for cell towers in areas where currently you have to be at least 1,000 feet from any home, except in situations where you have a non-conforming use,” she said. “In this situation, we’ve got high demand transportation corridors.”

reducing distance or maybe BETTER tower equipment. Put it back on the phone companies since they are the beneficiaries of tens of millions. HELLO???
ReplyDeleteGood point. Remember it when you're stranded and crying like a little girl because you have no cell signal. We could increase the transmit power on the towers to reduce their numbers but then you'd whine because they're giving you cancer. Which is it it....hello???
