WINTER STORM WARNING
SATURDAY, JANUARY 7 FROM 1:00 AM TO SUNDAY, JANUARY 8, 2017 1:00 AM
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE
FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. ONLY
TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY.
*TIMING: Saturday, January 7 early morning after 1 am with snowfall continuing until
evening hours
*SNOWFALL: 6 to 8 inches possible—(at times snowfall rate could be 2 inches per hour)
*TEMPERATURES: Mid 20’s-—remaining below freezing until Tuesday, 1/10
*WINDCHILLS: Single Digits on Sunday evening
*WINDS: Northwest 15-20 with gusts to 30 mph
We encourage citizens to limit travel during the snowfall event. This allows the road crews
to efficiently and safely clear the roads. Vehicles should be equipped with snow tires, all
weather rated radials or chains. Please refrain from parking or abandoning vehicles on
county roads.
Wicomico County Department of Emergency Services (DES)
The DES is continuing to monitor the current weather in conjunction with the Maryland
Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the National Weather Service.
