Laurel Police Officer's Vehicle Strikes Local Church In Bethel 1-25-17

There's a reason I've provided so many pictures of this scene. If you look at the parking lot, (gravel) you'll notice there's no scrapes or disturbance in the stones. Someone never hit the brakes?

If you know this area, it's a 25 MPH zone. Do tell us how a vehicle could swerve off the main road and directly into the Church/Community Center without slamming on the brakes.

Some witnesses are seriously questioning just WHO was at the wheel at the time. Perhaps that will be answered in comments.

It turns out two Laurel Officers were first to show up on the scene and then at a later point a DE. State Police showed up. No breathalyzer was taken, according to witnesses. Welcome to the Eastern Shore.

  1. Officer, that's not the bar...it's a church.

  2. Maybe he knew he needed help. He was headed in the right direction.

  4. I didn't know Bethel had enough population to even have a police officer!

  5. Cops...they never charge their own. It's that Blue Code of Silence. Only proof of wrongdoing by the citizenry will produce any action of wrongdoing by cops. It's a fact folks. Police have never been effective at policing themselves, duh...

    1. your comment doesn't flush anymore. Cops are being indicted for everything under the sun now. It's in every state and most counties. You are a typical liberal just saying the same things over and over even when they don't apply.... most cases go to court and the JUDGE or JURY find the officer not guilty. Facts not fake news.

    2. You apparently are asleep and haven't seen the news in the past few years. The black racist we had for president made every cop guilty before investigations were done and they all got arrested. Most got cleared by the criminal courts. Most of the cops lost their homes for attorney fees...You probably voted for the racist... his followers are typically very violent and believe in name calling.

  8. My guess he/she was sitting in his/her car, checking his/her computer, you know, keeping track of perps on Facebook or Instagram, he/she dozed off. His/her transmission was still in drive. His/her foot slipped of the brake as he/she was dreaming he/she was on Dancing With The Stars, the vehicle moved forward, and he or she awoke as the car struck the Church.

  9. Bethel cop? Get real. Their cop is a stationary speed notification device on the side of the road. It doesn't even give out tickets. Did the radar device jump off the post and run into the church?

  10. He was chasing a THUG who happened to try to evade capture by running through the Church lot!!! That's the truth and nothing but the truth......Police would never do something illegal!!! Let it go.

  11. 8:55 must not have noticed that the driver was not named and a Breathalyzer was not administered (according to the witnesses).
The article also does not state an arrest was made.
All of those things would have occurred if it was a non-badge wearing citizen.
9:03 (the same guy as 8:55) is also wrong....most cops do NOT "lose their houses". Where did you get that info? The book of Made up BS???

  13. Maybe before posting a story, you should actually have the facts. I am sure it is public information as to who the driver was and if not I am sure the owner of the Community hall has a copy of the police report and I am sure they would give the name of the driver.
