VA dentist may have infected 600 veterans with HIV
A Wisconsin VA dentist may have infected more than 600 veterans with HIV after failing to sanitize dental equipment and instruments between patients.
Tomah’s VA is offering free hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV screenings to the 592 veterans who received care from the questionable dentist, officials announced Tuesday.
“I pray no one has an infection,” Tomah VA acting medical director Victoria Brahm said at a press conference.
The dentist — who has not been identified — has been removed from patient care and placed on administrative duty, Brahm said.
