“If you’re there, you have to help me.”
Those are the words that poet Sally Read said to an icon of Jesus in 2010. Read, a British poet and atheist, had stopped into a church in Santa Marinella, Italy. She felt burdened. Her young daughter was having health issues. Her husband Fabio was enduring some stress at work.
“There was this incredible experience where this presence almost came down, and my tears just stopped, just dried,” Read tells CNSNews.com. “I felt almost physically carried up. It was as if someone walked into the room. I knew this person. I knew that I was a Christian.”

ReplyDeleteWhen you told of your experience, did you happen to mention the name, JESUS CHRIST?
Just curious.
I know that when I speak of Christianity, i usually mention His Name - Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
5:45-- did you read the article?
ReplyDeleteShe said it was Jesus. Christ.
Just trying to buy her way into heaven.. This is B. S.
ReplyDelete@10:20 Hypocrite! Who are you to judge anyone's faith? Might want to make sure you have your own ticket to heaven!
ReplyDeleteAnd that is how it happens. Whether it is a brain response to an overly stressful situation, or a religious experience, it doesn't matter. The experience of that "presence" is real, very real, to the person that experiences it. It changes a person forever, when it happens. I've been there and I've experienced the mystical and profound contact with the "presence". I'm not crazy, but I can only explain my experience as one where God spoke to me. There was no one else there, but the thought and voice in my head was as real, as real can be. I was blessed to have this experience. Many never have it, even though they pray for it all the time. I understand her, and what she experienced. And I thank her for sharing, at the risk of ridicule by the atheists and liberals.
ReplyDelete10:20, you sound so cynical. Why? I am cradle to grave Catholic and feel reaffirmed when I read stories like these. Some of my close friends are converts to Catholicism after lengthy research not to mention the likes of Newt Gingrich, Laura Ingraham, and Kirsten Powers. God does work in mysterious ways and their witness is not an attempt to "buy" their way to heaven.
