Bass Pro Shops, the Springfield, Missouri-based outdoor sports retailer, has agreed to buy competitor Cabela's Inc. for $65.60 a share in cash, valuing the deal at about $5.5 billion.
Sidney, Nebraska-based Cabela's (NYSE: CAB) announced the deal Monday, ending a week of speculation.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2017, subject to approval by Cabela's shareholders and regulatory approvals.
Bass Pro has one location in Maryland with a massive store at the Arundel Mills Mall. Cabela's has yet to enter Maryland.
The deal calls for Bass Pro to begin a multiyear partnership with Capital One NA, a banking subsidiary of Capital One Financial Corp. (NYSE: COF), under which Capital One will service the Cabela's CLUB, that retailer's co-branded credit card, officials said.

ReplyDeleteWhy bother with maryland?because....its anti gun..
ReplyDeleteThis is not good for the consumer because it is less competition out there.
ReplyDeletePlenty of competition. It's called the internet. Stuff shows up in 1 -2 days at your door. No driving/no cashiers/no idiots.
ReplyDeleteMr Florida, I am perplexed by your constant commentary about moving and how great it is. Who are you trying convince, us or you? I fail to understand the point of all your posts, because they only surmount to, hey I moved, hey I moved, hey I moved.
ReplyDeleteSince you have been gone for years, do you think your points are relevant? They aren't, because .... you moved.
I've always liked Cabela's over Bass Pro and certainly over the other one.
ReplyDeleteMr 851 I'm trying to point out what the shore needs to do in order to improve . It's situation....I spent nearly 20 years on the shore and miss it sometimes....if the economy was better on the shore I may have stayed....
