Peak Hubris

"I don't understand people...who talk about us as being in decline, and who act as though we are not yet the greatest country that has ever been on the face of the Earth for all of history!"

Hillary Rodham Clinton, 25 July 2016

How can we possibly have any problems, except for malcontents, naysayers, and whiners? We are the greatest!

The Democratic establishment's lack of understanding of what a large portion of the public has been saying and thinking during this entire election cycle and beyond is both remarkable and yet understandable, given the insular bubble of easy money, crony capitalism, and endless favoritism in which their candidate and their pampered protégés exist.

This utter disconnect from the public is why liberal establishment figureheads can write columns in the New York Times suggesting that all must be well everywhere, because things are great in the affluent bubble-land of the Upper West Side of Manhattan, or in Silicon Valley. And then go on to imply that anyone who may disagree, who may be protesting and working for meaningful reform, is ignorant or dishonest.

  2. Here are the facts. The US ranks:

    1st in prisoners.
    14th in education.
    19th in national satisfaction.
    44th in health care efficiency.
    66th in religious diversity.
    3rd in global competitiveness.

We can wave our guns in the air, fly jets over our football games while red, white and blue fireworks go off and we chant "USA" but the reality is so very different. I love my country but we need to kick the idiots out of Congress who are puppets for energy and pharmaceutical companies. Elected officials don't run the country, $$$ does. Give them term limits and see what happens.

  3. This OP needs to get his/her news from a real and truthful news outlet and not the seriously biased liberal media.

  4. Dave T: Sorry to burst the bubble, but in my opinion, "the greatest" civilization that ever existed is NOT the United States, it was the Roman Empire. And we are doing an upstanding of following their path right to the end. Rome is burning today as this nation is certainly divided and coming apart from within. The only question now is do we have the courage, the wisdom and the decency to do something about it. Human ignorance does reign supreme so it will be interesting to see how things pan out.

  5. Our Nation is unique in its own way but not without a strong work ethic and educational system. And a strong well-trained military and law enforcement to keep us safe.
