A shotgun-wielding man who ran into a 7-Eleven early Tuesday left empty-handed after a store clerk literally took the situation into his own hands, authorities said.
The clerk was behind the register ringing up two customers at about 4 a.m. A man burst into the store at 7729 Sundays Lane, near Frederick, sidestepped the customers and leveled the shotgun at the clerk’s face, store surveillance footage shows. As the customers stepped back, the armed man leaned closer to the clerk.
The man wore a bandanna over part of his face and a dark hood over his head. The footage clearly shows him addressing the clerk and gesturing aggressively with the firearm toward the register.
“[The man] pointed it at my employee and started screaming at my employee, screaming in his face, and [my employee] grabbed [the gun] and took it out of the guy’s hands,” said Abdul Ayub, who owns the store. “And the guy ran out of the store, so now the police have the gun and he didn’t get anything.”
