Republican seeks to strike language requiring women to register for draft

A Republican congressman is seeking to strike language requiring women to register for the draft from a defense policy bill.

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas), chairman of the House Rules Committee, filed an amendment striking the language on Monday to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“I have the utmost respect and deepest appreciation for the young women who bravely volunteer to serve our country, but I am adamantly opposed to expanding the draft and coercing America’s daughters to fight on the front lines,” Sessions said in a written statement to The Hill.

  1. Make them all register - especially sons, daughters, grandsons, and granddaughters of our politicians! Maybe they'll think twice before they rouse our big-stick....if they ever think at all!

  2. Is this not a discriminatory practice? Why are females getting same pay with lesser requirements? Same rank same pay same requirements? Females wanted it then require them to fulfill same requirements or receive 20% less pay.

  3. Totally agree! We go to war to protect our families, way of life, and children, who will continue the population of our nation.

This has to be held in the highest of importance.

  5. I an not for requiring women to register for the draft, however the thought of some of these liberal women having to go through basic training puts a smile on my face. I know registering doesn't mean they will have to do basic training...but the thought still makes me smile.

  6. No no no!!!! If women want to be treated as equal in this world, then they need to take the good with the bad. They need to be forced to register for the draft
