A Sussex County Superior Court judge has given accused murderer Matthew Burton $1.5 million cash bail.
Burton is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and first-degree rape in connection with the 2012 death of Nicole Bennett. On April 25, Sussex County Superior Court Judge E. Scott Bradley gave Burton $500,000 cash for each count. A bail hearing was held April 22 in a case that extradited Burton from Maryland to Delaware. His trial is scheduled for October.
State prosecutor David Hume asked Superior Court Judge E. Scott Bradley for $2 million cash bail for Burton, who has been in custody since July 2012.
“He is an extreme flight risk, and he's a proven risk to the community,” Hume said.

If he killed one person how is he charged with two first degree murders?
ReplyDeletethis is outrageous. 2012???? WTH????? why has he not been tried, convicted, and sentenced yet? No wonder this country is so screwed up.
ReplyDeleteHis flight would require a long runway.
ReplyDeleteFiring squad. Quick, simple and cost effective!

ReplyDeleteIt took them a while to find out who was involved in the murder. This creep should remain behind bars.
Originally he was charged in Worcester Co. for the crime. Evidence surfaced pointing to the crime occurring in DE. He then fought extradition to DE. That saw it's way to the highest court in MD the Court of Appeals. All this took years and he's only been back in DE for about a year now.
ReplyDeleteLet him go, he is a good boy, just misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteI know right 4:55. He was an alter boy just like Freddie Gray who most certainly is responsible for overdose deaths and contributed to the street shootings and violence the heroin trade brings in. I still can't believe they rioted over that. It goes to show you just how sick they are. It's no wonder they are killing each other in record numbers. It's no wonder their neighborhoods aren't fit for a dog. They are very disturbed people.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me sick! Any Judge who would allow for such a barbaric murderer to get out of prison and back on the streets should be fired and removed from the bench! This is why Nicole was murdered, some other liberal Judge let this evil monster out of incarceration.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to Nicole's family, they haven't deserved any of this torment.
4 years later and this guy still hasn't even been to court. WTH!!! There should be no question of bond. He has obviously tried every trick in the book to avoid the courthouse. Why would they think that would change. If he gets bonded out, it will take them X number of years to find him again.
