A Message From States Attorney Maciarello On Puppy Mill / Humane Society

This morning I toured the Humane Society kennel with Clay Groton, our animal abuse and neglect prosecutor. There were 310 dogs removed. 36 went to Worcester; 26 to Somerset and we have the balance. We have many more now due to live births that occurred since the removal. They are helping each dog while they document their condition.

Supplies are needed if you care to help. Here is what they need: Dog food for puppies(any brand) Puppy pads, Newspapers, towels, unstuffed blankets,Bleach, Laundry soda, and "fabuloso."

Thank you for your concern and for helping the dogs. You may bring donated supplies to the front door of the Wicomico Humane Society.

  1. Please, no matter how you feel about Animal Control or the Humane Society, none of these dogs ask or deserve the treatment that they have received. Please help out the agencies that need assistance. If everyone just spent $5 it would really add up. Get your friends together and then just one person can deliver.

  2. S/A's office needs to contact the HSUS's legal team who know states' laws inside and out. They can assist with filing charges.

  3. Good idea. Why don't you start a Go Fund Me Campaign? It will make it easier for everyone to donate.

    1. Donate directly through the HS website via Paypal.

  4. The humane society already has a pay pal account set up on their site for donations. We just sent them a check this morning. No need for multiple fundraising sites esp since they take fees.

  5. Please, do not let them go to rescues out of state who see them as a cash crop...."poor puppies. ..need a home..." I know of a few "rescues" that would be dying to get these dogs, and adoption fees will be the reward for them as they claim "medical issues" and collect outrageous monies at the dogs expense :(

  6. I left PayPal Saturday over NC. I'll drop them a check in person tomorrow.

  7. Newspapers or no newspapers? HS asks no newspapers be dropped off and this is the second time I have seen others asking for newspapers. Which is it?
