OCEAN CITY, MD – (March 9, 2016): Ocean City police arrested a West Virginia woman late last Friday evening for impaired driving and fleeing from police. She was eventually stopped in West Ocean City.
On March 4, 2016, at approximately 11 p.m. Ocean City police were alerted to a vehicle that had been driving erratically in the north Ocean City area. A short time later, officers located a vehicle matching the given description traveling on Coastal Highway near 146th Street. Officers followed the vehicle into the 7-11 Convenience Store parking lot on 139th Street. While speaking with the driver, later identified as Brandie Deano, 36, of Charles Town, WV, officers observed signs of impairment. Deano then got into her vehicle and sped off.
Officers attempted to stop Deano but she refused to stop and continued to accelerate away from officers. Officers pursued Deano, who failed to stop for multiple red traffic signals and reached speeds well in excess of the posted speed limits. Additional officers responded and deployed stop sticks at 65th Street unsuccessfully as Deano continued to flee from police, eventually driving west over the Route 50 bridge.
With assistance from Worcester County Sheriff’s deputies, officers were eventually able to bring the vehicle to a stop near Golf Course Road in West Ocean City. Deano was arrested without further incident. Officers later determined that Deano was impaired at the time of the incident.
Deano was issued nearly 20 traffic citations including driving while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance, multiple counts of speeding, failure to stop for uniformed police as well as reckless and negligent driving. Deano was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and released after posting $10,000 bond.
