Sears doesn't want to waste any time.
The retailer announced on Tuesday that it planned to "accelerate" the closing of at least 50 "unprofitable stores."
Sears, which also owns Kmart, originally planned to close the stores over the next few months, but poor sales have sped up the timeline.
In its earnings report Tuesday, Sears said it expects total revenue to hit $7.3 billion for the fourth quarter -- down from $8.1 billion last year.

I hope Salisbury isn't one of them. I will hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteI was in Sears a couple of weeks ago. It seemed like I was the only person in there. The mall as a whole had only a handful of people roaming around. Most stores had no customers in them. It was as if I was wandering around an abandon mall. It was creepy and a bit scary.
ReplyDeleteBye Bye bury.
ReplyDeleteSalisbury is not one of the 50 stores listed.
ReplyDeleteIt would not surprise me if the one in Salisbury closed considering how the political climate in Maryland is so unfriendly to business. Would anyone keep a business in area where your operating cost are higher due to permitting and regulations? It would be cheaper to leave one open in Delaware!
ReplyDelete11:54 It is called internet shopping.
ReplyDelete12.01 where did you see a list?
ReplyDeletesurprised they benn waiting this long
ReplyDeleteI hope that someday they can invest in modern cash register equipment for Kmart. There has never been a place with such slow lines as Kmart and the ridiculous amount of paper their receipt printer unloads on you after a purchase is crazy.
ReplyDeleteClosing stores hurts those that depend on shoplifting. It's getting increasingly more difficult to get free stuff.
ReplyDeleteThugs were allowed to kill the mall.
ReplyDeleteYou don't see loitering thugs teens in Sam's club, because it's a club and you have to pay to join.

ReplyDeleteI tell you the collapse is closer than you can imagine and yet you stupid people can't see this coming...
I'm going to miss their hardware/tool section. It's the best!
ReplyDeletethugs in the Mall, crime in and surrounding the Mall, limited jobs and low income citizens in the region.
ReplyDelete12:17 I'm not buying it. The OC Outlets are busy and I was in Easton at the Talbottown Center and it was busy during a weekday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWent to Sears (Salisbury) this past Sunday to purchase Vacuum Cleaner Bags. In to store, had purchase in hand within 45 seconds. Went to nearest register to check out, no one anywhere around...? Waited a few minutes and then spotted and 'associate' leaning on a Kenmore Dryer in the appliance section (texting on his phone of course). Approached the associate and asked if he was working. He stated 'yes' and asked if I was ready to 'check out'. Yep...I was ready to check out...are you ready to stop texting long enough to do that for me? That store should be toast, they sell nothing that you can't already get on Amazon, and you could probably have it faster if you are a Prime Member!
ReplyDeleteAnd now the old vinny romas is now turned into a Mexican club.
