Elon Musk is building a massive Tesla Gigafactory that's expected to be completed in 2020.
When finished, it'll be the world's second-largest building by volume — three times the size of New York's Central Park.
While there have been drone videos of the factory's exterior, photographers haven't been allowed inside the Gigafactory.
That's not for lack of trying — one Reno photojournalist got arrested for being on the property.
But it looks as if Tesla is allowing commercial photographer James Lipman into its biggest project.
Lipman posted the first photos ever taken inside the Gigafactory on his Instagram account, and it looks gorgeous.

Why not spend spend spend spend when it is the taxpayer's subsidies you are spending.
ReplyDeleteImagine the disaster in the financial markets if once they actually start building Tesla's no one buys them. Worse yet they start catching on fire like the new hoverboards.
ReplyDeleteIf you drive the model s for 200 miles and then stop for a chargem it will take a whopping 66 hours to charge up on 110v
ReplyDeleteNot practical at all.
3:41. Tesla is a publicly traded company and has been profitable in its own right since 2013. 4:12. I don't think you need to worry about no one buying. They've already sold over 90,000 cars and I see more and more of them on the roads around the Philly suburbs where I live. They are amazing cars and Tesla should be admired for their innovation. And the fact that they are investing and manufacturing right here in the USA.
ReplyDeleteTheir new whole house battery ought to have Big Energy quivering. How long before it will be illegal everywhere to be even partially off grid I wonder?
ReplyDelete4:33 very good points.
ReplyDeleteGood job 4:33 correcting some of the uninformed statements. Tesla makes an amazing car with a long waiting list to get one. This is why Musk is building this incredible battery factory. So he can keep up with the demand while lowering the price. The Tesla charges in about 30 minutes to 80% or about 170 miles worth. You can charge for free at the numerous charging stations around the country ( next to Boscov's in Salisbury). The performance is unbelievable! 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds with an EPA highway rating of the equivalent of 90 mpg. While their are some EV tax incentives they amount to nothing compared to the tax payer funded bailouts the Detroit auto manufactures have received. Also Musk has an affordable electric storage system using the same batteries for home use. This will allow many people to live totally off the grid with solar panels. He also owns Solar City and Space X. Space X just made headlines for launching satellites into space and having the rocket return and land vertically to be used again. Musk should definitely be admired for his innovation and investing and manufacturing in the USA!
ReplyDelete7:41 Hopefully you have taken all available cash that you have(including borrowing some) and bought as much stock as you can.
ReplyDelete8:29 Very good advice as thousands of people have already made fortunes investing in this self made billionaires companies.
ReplyDeleteYes he finally got what he wanted federal funding for his battery facility. Now the ill fated electric tesla will wither away eventually like the delorean and other small segment car buyers
ReplyDeleteNot likely 9:58. They sell very well in affluent areas versus effluent areas.
ReplyDelete12:30. Yes they are urban vehicles as not well suited in rural high travel areas nor in northern climates due to cold battery demands. My focus is this year they sold about 20,000 units by far their best year of deliveries. With this push to be the best year the quality is suffering. All above coming from automotive trade journals that track all things vehicular not sounding long term greatness
ReplyDeleteThis guy is a leach on taxpayers. You said it...Solar City, where taxpayers $50,000 investment will save me $400 per year for 20 years. Do the math. It's a scammers dream.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the tesla company doesn't leach on anyone....just because you shorons couldn't afford the tires for a tesla. Musk is brilliant and so are the cars. Even Mercedes Benz is using tesla batteries in its electric cars. You people are clueless to any kind of progress....the cars work great and are selling well. Maybe you all should just go back under the rocks you all live under...most of you aren't smart enough to understand technology....
ReplyDeleteHe is brilliant because he knows how to get "free" money. Do your homework before you glorify him.
ReplyDeleteI've done my homework....I'd take a tesla anytime...
