Obama in Paris on 'Mass Shooting' at Planned Parenthood: ‘This Just Doesn’t Happen in Other Countries’

At a press conference in Paris on Tuesday, where he had been attending the international climate summit, President Barack Obama said that "mass shootings" like the one that took place at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado last week just do not happen in countries other than the United States.

“With respect to Planned Parenthood, obviously, my heart goes out to the families of those impacted. I mean … I say this every time we’ve got one of these mass shootings. This just doesn’t happen in other countries,” Obama said in a news conference at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

On Friday, a gunman, Robert Lewis Dear, opened fire at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colo., killing three people and injuring nine in an hourslong standoff. A police officer was one of the victims who were slain, along with two civilians.

The president’s remarks come just over two weeks after members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) launched multiple terrorist attacks in Paris, which is hosting the COP21 climate change summit, killing 130 people. In January, members of ISIS (also known as ISIL or the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant) attacked and killed 12 people in a mass shooting at the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine in Paris.

  2. Absolutly unbe;ievable that the man(?) who is supposed to be the leader of the free world can tell such horrendous untruths.

In just 2015, France suffered more casualties – killings and injuries – from mass public shootings than the U.S. has suffered during Obama’s entire presidency (508 to 424). This number includes the San Bernandino massacre on Wednesday.

Obama isn’t correct even if he meant the frequency of fatalities or attacks. Many European countries actually have higher rates of death from public shootings that resulted in four or more murders. It’s simply a matter of adjusting for America’s much larger population.

In terms of the frequency of attacks, the United States ranks ninth, with 0.09 attacks per million people.

Welcome to the USofA with a liar in chief as President. He seems to be establishing Hill's credentials.

  3. So this POS in other words is saying that the terror attacks in Paris were just figmenst of people's imaginations????? It is a shame that the only reason this person was elected was because he is black. There is no other reason. He is completely and totally inept in all he does. Every single thing he does is wrong or goes wrong. He and his family are nothing more than more freeloaders using real Americans tax dollars to further their miserable agendas. Every word that comes out of his mouth is lies, lies, lies. He mistakenly thinks this country trusts him, and hangs on his every word. America is starting to wake up and see just how much of a real threat he is to America, and how much damage he has done. He cares not about anyone but himself. The safety of Americans is not and will never be his priority.

  4. So planned parenthood murders thousands of unborn children every month and I'm supposed to be concerned that someone attacks them. Live by the sword die by the sword.

  5. I heard the guy didn't take out any staff or patients, only police answering the call.

    What's the story on that?

  6. I'd be embarrassed if I were the weakest leader in the world. You ever watch how this guy walks to a podium. He struts like he's back on the block. Huggy bear.

  7. Clearly Obama is referring to to frequency of mass shootings in the US compared to other countries. Mass shootings have become the norm in the US, this is not the case in other developed countries.

  8. Mass shootings happen all the time in other countries, but the shooting is usually done by their governments, and in much larger numbers. And behind it is either political expedience or religious extremism, which, in many of these places, amount to the same thing.
