Mt. Airy, MD) – Maryland State Police have four suspects under arrest today after a chaotic scene at a local store that ended with arrests and the recovery of brass knuckles and a knife.
The first suspect is identified as Traci Conners, 42, of the 1400-block of Key Highway, Frederick, MD. She was charged with second degree assault on police and disorderly conduct. She is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center awaiting an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
The second suspect is identified as Jacob Conners, 17, of the 13000-block of West Annapolis Court, Mt. Airy, MD. He is being charged as an adult with second degree assault on a police officer, second degree assault, and carrying a concealed dangerous weapon. He is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center awaiting an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
The third suspect is identified as Steven Conners, 19, of the 13000-block of West Annapolis Court, Mt. Airy, MD. He was charged with second degree assault on a police officer, second degree assault, and hindering. He is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center awaiting an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
The fourth suspect is identified as Emily Anthony, 19, of the1300-block of Manor Drive, Mt. Airy, MD. She was charged with disorderly conduct. She is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center awaiting an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
Trooper Johnathan Horner, 23, a four year veteran of the Maryland State Police is currently assigned to the Westminster Barrack in Carroll County, Maryland. He was transported by emergency medical personnel to Carroll County General Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the attack.
Just before 1:00 p.m. today, Trooper Horner responded to a call for service involving road rage. He arrived at the 200-block of E. Ridgeville Boulevard in Mt. Airy, Maryland and contacted the parties involved. Based on conflicting accounts of the events that lead to this complaint, Trooper Horner was unable to establish a clear aggressor in the road rage complaint.
During the investigation, a citizen began to film the encounter. Traci Conners verbally attacked, then physically assaulted the citizen. Trooper Horner attempted to stop the altercation at which time Jacob Conners attacked him. After attacking Trooper Horner, Jacob Conners ran off into the Walmart. Conners was located in the bathroom attempting to flush a set of brass knuckles and a knife in the toilet. After a brief struggle, Trooper Horner was able to place Jacob Conners under arrest and secure him with handcuffs.
In the meanwhile, Traci and Steven Conners both come into the bathroom and attacked Trooper Horner. While on the ground, fighting off the attack, Trooper Horner was kicked in the head several times by Jacob Conners who was handcuffed.
Additional troopers arrived on the scene. All suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Carroll County Detention Center. Trooper Horner was transported to the Carrol County General Hospital for treatment.
This investigation is ongoing.
