A Viewer Writes: World Gym
I have been a member of this current location for about 5 months now. When I first joined I was charge a ridiculous amont of fees but felt paying 10 a month would make it worth it. Now after 5 months my services have gone to shit I am unable to purchase drinks they have shut down the juice bar and are running on barely any staff. I overheard several of the front desk staff speaking about not getting paid in weeks recently and looked into it because I was worrying about my gym that I have invested into and this is what I found. http://bankrupt.com/misc/mdb15-24428.pdf

WELL DONE.
ReplyDeletePlanet fitness.
ReplyDeletePlanet fitness.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. P F is open 24 hrs a day and $10 a month. They are awesome.
DeleteYou can go to Powerhouse. They have juice. You can't drink it, it's an injectible but they do have juice.
ReplyDeletePower house is a pig hang out. Only reason to go there is to learn how and why cops are crooked ass criminals. It's like watching taxi cab confessions but for meat heads.they brag about their wrongdoings.
DeleteThe good news is they have filed for chapter 11 which is a reorganization. If successful with their chapter 11 petition they will likely continue to operate. In most cases where there is an advance payment or membership liability they can also grant you a complimentary membership for the remaining months you have lost due to forfeiture. Ask what their plan is, you won't do yourself or anyone else any good venting on a blog.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the filing, there is no way they will successfully reorganize.
DeleteTheir plan needs to be giving customers the services they were guaranteed when signing up and taking money. I'd expect my juice bar and adequate staffing just like when I signed. If not refund some money!
DeleteLike most local businesses offering "luxury services", running a profitable enterprise is an extremely difficult proposition considering the current economic climate in this area.
ReplyDeleteEspecially, the economic climate in this area.
Delete...or just go to the YMCA
ReplyDelete8:50 criticize much? I appreciate the fact that this person brought this subject to light and enlightened others to the facts, which enables them to make good decisions with their money.
ReplyDeleteSo I disagree with your rude comment that it doesn't do anyone any good, because it does. I suspect you are either an employee, franchisee or manager of the establishment.
And 8:54 if the business is run properly it is not that difficult to run a profitable enterprise. Greed and ignorance usually are the factors bringing a business to ruin.
Not that difficult to run a profitable business offering these types of services in this area? You're clueless.
DeleteThe YMCA is an alternative at about the same price
ReplyDeleteThis part of Salisbury is becoming such a ghetto, I'm wondering why anyone would want to take the risk to go there.
ReplyDeleteCould that have anything to do with it?
All of Salisbury is becoming a ghetto - tell us where it is not like that please.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he needs to move downtown... I hear downtown is booming. And no crime there, either!
ReplyDeleteWith that shelter behind the Giant plaza the whole area has gone down, full of pan handlers and drug addicts.
ReplyDeleteJust joined 3 months ago. The previous gym (had been a member for seven years) had reduced staff to one person who spent her time on the phone and would hand you a towel from the basket if you interrupted her. Sometimes the owner was there but she was generally on the phone on a treadmill. They then reduced hours. The cleaning schedule had gotten to the point where one of the notes they plastered on the equipment had fallen on the floor and was still there three days later. The monthly fee was $38.
ReplyDeleteI'll gladly support a cleaner place, with three or four staff on duty, a wider selection of equipment that is newer - not rusting and down for repair weeks at a time - for 25% the cost
You can purchase drinks, the smoothie bar is up and running , there are more Than enough staff and they are getting paid aswell. Yes, there was a rough patch, as any business goes through, but it is on the up again and things are going well. This gym is also the cleanest in the area. It also offers copious amounts of equipment and classes for such a low price of $10 a month. If you have such complaints, why don't you bring it up with the staff and managers rather than posting on a blog with infomation that isn't correct.
ReplyDeleteBaloney. I can read a bankruptcy filing. Nice try
DeleteWell, there is a difference between filing for bankruptcy and going out of business so hopefully there is a chance they can reorganize and get themselves on a more solid financial footing. And thanks for the ghetto comments. That always make things better. I have worked out there many times and it does not look anything like a ghetto to me. Maybe you should visit a real ghetto so you can discern between the two.
ReplyDeleteThey owe over a million $ and have less than $100 thousand in assets. Maybe you should learn to read a bankruptcy filing you moron before you attempt to criticize those of us that actually know what we are talking about...moron.
DeleteSuccessfully coming out of C11 bankruptcy has very little to do with total assets and everything to do with cash flow (which does not appear on a bankruptcy filing). If an agreement can be reached with their creditors and the payment plan is achievable with the cash flow that they have, they will remain operational.
DeleteReading this blog sure confirms our decision to leave the area. Sorry bunch of whiners and know nothing know it alls.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to get abnormally huge join Power House. I don't know what they put in the juice but it seems to work lol. Funny how they all say drug free there. Yet they are freaks I guess they just work out harder then the rest of us. Not ! DEA needs to take somebody down. Oh that's right a couple of them have already been busted.
ReplyDelete9:30 venting? next time we need an authority on behavior change we'll consult you. pathetic
ReplyDeleteTrain at home and eat healthy. Soooo simple
ReplyDeleteP90x3 completed 4 times. Best shape of my life.
ReplyDelete1:25 has plenty of experience...wonder how many times he filed?
ReplyDeleteLive FIT-Mt. Herman @ Civic Avenue-cool, laid back atmosphere. No juice but they have energy drinks and a water fountain-pretty much all that's needed. Buddy Chatham's-best place in town.
ReplyDeleteThe YMCA is old the weight room tiny and no AC in the main gym.

Speaking of Ghetto I am listening to my scanner and they are dispatching Parsonsburg, Delmar and Fruitland to pick up their ghetto homeless trash and taxi them to the hospital while Salisbury fire trucks go to the scene and standby and just wait for the ambulances. Dispatched for a "Sick Subject." All this and the out of town ambulances are beating the Salisbury fire trucks to their own scenes.

Barrie Tilghman, Lore Chambers and Jim Ireton is the blame for welcoming those Refugees to Salisbury with open arms. They were so good at it that other cities would give their homes a one way bus ticket to Salisbury.

I hear those Roids shink up your manhood so they have to compensate with bigger muscles and stuffing a sock in their bikini when they "compete."
Steroids, when abused, are well known to produce side effects such as behavior changes and shrinking testicles.
DeleteI have been going to world gym For years (salisbury and ocean city locations). It's clear they are struggling. I have discussed it with them a couple of time at both locations.
ReplyDeleteLike most businesses, It must be a very competitive business.
I hope they work it out. When everything was working it was a nice facility.
5:19 Keep bidding those with money farewell as the taxes they pay to the state and the county go with them. You lose in the end as your taxes increase to make up for the decline. Aww shucks didn't think of that.....
ReplyDeleteLive FIT gym in the twilley center is an awesome gym. Not a franchise and owned by a local professional body builder. All classes are free to members and the owner Buddy is always happy to help with exercise nutrition and any other questions you may have. Personal trainers are also available at additional costs. Plenty of equipment and its open 24 hours.

ReplyDeleteI agree. I hope they work it out. It is a nice place.
The guy who took over management wise should be replaced. He must be the cheap fix. I have a few friends that go there who said they find extra charges on their monthly membership dues (charged twice etc) and when they asked about getting a refund the new manager, who the staff refers you to,doesn't return calls.
ReplyDeleteI went to go to World to work out and they had a sign on their door saying they were closed for renovations and opening tomorrow??? I heard a new gym was coming in and taking them over from across the bridge?!? I heard this about a month ago and now this?
ReplyDeleteNo for what they owe , they wont be back .
