Incident: Fatal Pedestrian Involved Collision

Date of Incident: 16 October 2015

Location: 3000 block of Meadow Bridge Road, Fruitland, MD

Deceased: Robert Thomas Shultheis, 37, Fruitland, MD.


Narrative: On 16 October 2015 at 7:30 PM deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the 3000 block of Meadow Bridge Road near Fruitland, MD. Upon arrival deputies found Fruitland EMS attending to Robert Shultheis who ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation has revealed that Shultheis was jogging on Meadow Bridge Road when he was struck by a Ford Pick-up truck operated by Brent M. Taylor of Eden, MD.

 This collision is currently being investigated by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information regarding it is asked to contact the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4891.

  4. Driver's background is a non-issue. Someone jogging on a dark road in dark clothes on a country road has high odds of being struck. I almost hit someone under similar circumstances last week.

  7. Hey 9:15 and 11:10, Rob was on the other side of the road, the driver went across the line to the other side of the road to strike him. Hardly a vision issue...
