OCEAN CITY, MD – (October 13, 2015): Ocean City police have charged a Pennsylvania man involved in an attempted burnout on Philadelphia Avenue that led to a hit-and-run collision.
On October 9, 2015, at approximately 6:23 p.m. Ocean City police responded to a hit-and-run vehicle collision that occurred in the area of 7th Street and Philadelphia Avenue. It was reported that a vehicle had attempted to do a burnout on Philadelphia Avenue but lost control of the vehicle and struck the railing in front of Pickles Pub at 704 Philadelphia Avenue at a low speed. On October 10, officers discovered a video of the incident on social media. Through investigation, officers were able to identify and make contact with the driver of the vehicle who received multiple traffic citations for the October 9 incident.
The driver of the vehicle, Greg S. Peters, 44, of Lebanon, PA, was charged with the following traffic offenses:
- Negligent driving
- Spinning wheels
- Driving vehicle on a sidewalk
- Failure of vehicle driver to stop after unattended property damage accident
- Failure of motor vehicle driver to furnish written identification information
- Failure of vehicle driver to stop after unattended property damage accident
- Failure of vehicle driver involved in accident to give insurance policy information
- Driver failure to obey designated lane direction
The Ocean City Police Department is reminding residents and visitors of Ocean City that negligent and reckless driving behavior is extremely dangerous and could quickly result in tragedy. In an effort to keep Ocean City streets safe for motorists and pedestrians, similar driving behavior will be met with strict enforcement and zero tolerance.
