A Viewer Writes: SU Student Housing Home Invasions
Have you heard anything about multiple home invasions at the off campus student housing on Onley Rd? my girlfriend was at my place last night and her roommates called this morning and said they had been robbed last night. the police told them that it happened to multiple houses. SU sent out an email about it this morning saying it was 4 black males with a gun.
I am very surprised they gave that much of a description. Can't wait for those same four black males to be confronted in their home by four women with guns.
That scumbag O'Malley put a jail way out in Western Maryland, and one here too. Jobs? Yes, but look at what it is costing us. The jails have brought big city problems to rural western Maryland and us. Exactly how you may ask? Its standard democrat / progressive playbook. First, commie turds like Ireton/cook/day/Mitchell/shields and the fat ass rudy caine replacement, cant remember her worthles name, need vote slaves to pull the D lever, so they use taxpayer money to fund section 8 art housing, and then local stupid R's get pulled in to transportation infrastructure projects so the vote slaves and the drugs can get around the shore below the radar. The baby factories get fired up and wallah! In a few short years rural counties have big city problems. The vote slaves pimp mamas (NAACP) make sure they can't be disciplined, maki g the problems even worse, meanwhile DOJ crestes an enviroment where all are petrified of calling a spade a spade. Then all of the kids get drug down. Thanks Dems! Mission Accomplished!
What do you expect .we get bike paths, section 8 art housing, civic center parking lots, BOE waste, university construction, BUT , no real jobs , manufacteurs, factories. No companies , they run from MD politics. This is what you get folks electing democrats.. nothing but leeches and tax sucking projects.. they support and build nothing that can be self sufficient.
Where can we get the police reports--also I find it disgusting that both SU and the City bury these reports--It is so disappointing living here and the Police chief needs to go asap
I'm sure the University advertises to the parents that this is a safe place to send your kid. They don't realize it's probably more dangerous than the cities they come from.
10:11 thats why i sent the email. i can't find any info about it anyways besides the SU email that was sent out around 7 am the next morning. if someone has an active SU email they can find that. it seems like the entire salisbury police internet presence is dedicated to catching shoplifters.
11:03 You need a press release to tell you that crime is out of control in salisbury? Really? Prepare for what? Just put all your valuables in a pillow case and set them on the porch.
We live in a small crime ridden city. It's sad, but there is nothing here to improve or bring in jobs. I hear every day that people are moving, not realizing how terrible it is to live here. I myself would live to move away, but barely making ends meet thanks to the wonderful paying jobs we have in the "bury". I have my property stolen, car vandalized, and strangers just prance in my yard like it's their right. Shame on Maryland for being so greedy, on Salisbury for not caring and our lovely politicians for turning a blind eye to what's needed. Disgraceful is a word I can think of for it all.
Big difference between a home invasion and a robbery. What you are probably referring to is a burglary. The first two are more inflammatory words to get peoples attention. Burglaries happen every minute in this state and in the country and are noting new to any area of Salisbury. The college kids leave their unoccupied houses with all of their new computers and electronics for the long weekend and everyone in the Bury knows it including the criminals. This has been happening for at least the 20 years that I have been here.
Don't leave your stuff so you can go party, and hopefully lock your doors but sometimes that does not happen. Buy a mean dog or a alarm system.
Anon at 12:59 PM there were people home at the time of the entrance into the home and a gun was reported. that is a home invasion. this isn't a cat burglar casing joints and climbing into windows when they know the occupants of the home are away. they broke into the houses with a weapon and i know for an absolute fact in at least one of the cases a female was home at the time. you are i guess technically correct in that it isn't a targeted home invasion but as far as myself and most people are concerned if someone breaks into a home that is currently occupied, shows a weapon, and commits theft, that is a home invasion.
Your friendly community activist Jermichael Mitchell is encouraging his community to visit student housing when college students aren't around. They know that mommy and daddy sent their kids to SU with some nice toys that can be sold on da skreet fo sum heroin. Do da Crime Git NO Time. Got it!
Check with the Salisbury Police Department. The Salisbury University Police Department is not a real police department because their president does not support Law Enforcement.
The SU Police should be investigating and patrolling all of the areas of SU and known Student Housing, but the President doesn't want the SU Police to be real police. She wants them to go back to being security guards.
The SU Police chief is Ed Lashley a retired State Trooper and he is to weak to stand up for their police department and be more proactive. He needs to resign because I don't feel safe any where near that campus.
4:02-- WTF is wrong with people that they want to blame the victim, not the perpetrator thugs? Maybe your home will be next & we can all blame you. Some in our society are always going to take from those that have, as it's easier to them than getting a job & earning their own. Oh, & I am certain the firearm was legal.
i have a nice 12 ga. with 00 waiting for the first one thru my door you have to protect yourself you police only will come after the fact and take a report. so when they come to my house they can bring the body bags to
You want to see the nice pay checks 635... look at the pay and maybe even increases of top officials there during the states "financial crisis and hiring freeze"
9 times out of 10 a home invasion is drug related. If the bottom feeders are starting to prey on the college kids then it's for the Xbox or something. Everyone knows college kids ain't got no money man!
University students at SU come from NY/NJ and have plenty of disposable income compared to the the average local in Salisbury. They come to school with nice cars, clothes and all the latest gadgets. 60" ultra TV's, computers, laptops, tablets, game consoles and jewelery. Take a look around at the restaurants/fast food joints and pizza places. These students don't cook, they eat out or order delivery daily. Delivery drivers get a peek in every place they deliver too. Easy way to case places and report back to "friends" on which places have lots of stuff and residents that will offer little resistance. You don't need to be a profiler for the FBI to figure it out. The victims should be visiting the local pawn shops daily to locate some of their stolen items since the police won't be looking very hard for anything unless the happen to pull over a car for a ticket with a dozen laptops in the backseat.
University Village has been at less than 50% capacity for the last 4 semesters now. It is well known that this complex is isolated and not secured. Its an easy mark for armed robberies and car thefts. Most of the SU students are aware of the dangers of this complex and stay away from it, most of the current residents are foreign students. Would be nice for the developer to hire a security company at the least to do some rounds, just as a presence, and to install cameras around the property.
The site for police calls in city limits is :www.salisburypd.com then click on police calls. Also you can check on Mike Lewis Wicomico County Sheriff web site and police calls. Check as often as you need to by calendar date.
Why blame the police? ? Every college have the same problem. Kids are kids. Their parents teach them nothing about safety. Don't trust ANYONE! !! Your roommate, roommate friends, or neighbors. You have to look out for yourself plain and simple. Typical libitard mentality blame everyone and let the government protect you.
Welcome to Salisbury it's a thug rule society...This was rampant last year as well.

ReplyDeleteAnd I hope they don't miss.

ReplyDeleteExactly 10:11. Why are we not informed about these things so we can prepare and protect ourselves?
ReplyDeleteSomeone give the mayor's home address...see what happens if they go to his house...maybe he will wake up

ReplyDeleteLet's see how SU and SPD try to hide this from college parents. ...

Yes

Could drugs or money owed for drugs have something to do with it?
ReplyDeleteSU police have all the arrest powers of any other police dept. in salisbury on or off SU property.

ReplyDeletedoes the su police do anything other than collecting a nice check thanks to inflated tuitions
ReplyDeleteObviously you didn't graduate HS.

ReplyDeleteDA BURY MONGRELS in motion!! Attack the new fresh meat.

ReplyDeleteI'm curious. Where are you pulling these supposed stats from? Your butt doesn't count, BTW.

ReplyDeleteGot to love the know-it-alls, they tend to come out in the comments section.
ReplyDeleteLike U ?
DeleteThese robberies have been going on in that neighborhood for 10 years now. The students don't lock their doors and they are not armed. Easy Pickens.
ReplyDeleteAnd they just keep on building college housing. Apparently there aren't enough empty homes to rent out now that most have been driven out

ReplyDeleteLol it would be triple the call volume but the police are told NOT to write pw on certain calls.
DeleteDo you expect the lazy SU police Chief to do anything?
ReplyDeleteHe takes his cue from SPD polixe chief do NOTHING.

ReplyDeleteSo does "University Village" have a "no firearms" clause in their rental agreement?
DeleteThat''d be like creating a public hunting grounds, every apartment guaranteed a winner, no resident armed!
