Satanic Temple Unveils Goat-Headed Statue of the Devil in Detroit

A controversial monument was unveiled by the Satanic Temple in Detroit on Saturday night.

The eight-foot tall bronze statue, which features a goat-headed Satan, was revealed to hundreds of ticket holders at a private event in the city.

WWJ -TV reported:

The group said the bronze Baphomet monument, which weighs about one ton and has never been seen before in public, “is not only an unparalleled artistic triumph, but stands as a testament to plurality and the power of collective action.”

The statue, which backed by an inverted pentagram and flanked by statues of two young children gazing up at the creature, shows Satan with horns, hooves, wings and a beard.

  5. @1:21 except Christianity. If you are a Christian you do not have right to your beliefs. Everyone else is golden though. So in Detroit, they can erect a statue of the Devil but in every other city if you have any type of statue relating to the bible it must go? Makes a ton of sense.

  6. A flag is just a flag....and a statue is just a statue. Right????

  7. Now we see why Detroit is having the problems they are having...the absence of God in all things...is this where America is heading? Pray!

  10. How come the networks didn't broadcast Obama's welcoming speech from the event. I smell both sulphur and censorship.

  11. not yet anon 1:50, but they're doing things like fining them $135,000 and censoring them for not baking a cake. Jail and exclusion are close at hand.

  12. @1:41

Unfortunately you have it all wrong. Christians are no longer able to force their privilege upon everyone else. They have to play by the same rules as everyone else does. This has made them sore losers, and they cry persecution, but really there is no such thing as persecution of a majority. Over 70% of Americans are Christian. Almost all of our political leaders are Christian. Judges legislators are almost all Christian throughout history. So if you want to make the argument that Christians are being persecuted, then it has been at the hands of themselves.

  13. 5:58 Where are you getting your stats and just because you claim your Christian doesn't mean you are. Look no further than the President. Oh and I know your going to come back and say stop judging but by their fruit you will know them. Its also not too late for you;)

  16. For all of you out there that don't believe in God but are willing to admit that this is a satanic statue.... God help you!! If Satan is alive and well in this world (and he is) you better hope and pray there is a God to restrain him. In the mean while I will pray for you because if not one soul is left to pray....who do you think will take over the world? Therefore.....If you believe in Satan you also believe in God. You cannot believe in one without the other. And if you read the bible you would know that Satan is a fallen angel. So believe in satan...believe in angels.

  17. @8:08 that's the "no true Scottsman" argument, it is invalid because it is fallacious. Why are Christians so divided? The fact there are 30,000 plus variations of Christianity should make everyone take pause and reevaluate the validity of its claims.

@9:40. I'm pretty sure that these said "satanists" are really atheists just gaming the system. They are using the same tactics and arguments Christians are using to prove a point. Either all religious perspectives get equal footing in government, or none get special treatment. If Christians weren't so bent on force feeding their religion on everything they get close to, these so called "satanists" would probably not exist. They are most likely clever trolls, proving a point.
