Md. congregation’s ‘black lives matter’ sign vandalized

BETHESDA, Md. — A vandal has cut out the word “black” from a congregation’s “Black Lives Matter” sign in Montgomery County.

The River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Bethesda, Maryland, put up the sign on the edge of its property July 9.

A Montgomery County official notified the congregation Wednesday afternoon that the sign had been vandalized.

“It was disbelief,” says Ana Lim, the congregational administrator. “There was a lot of sadness in the office.”

  2. Well I'm sorry there was a lot of sadness, however, ALL lives matter not just black.

  3. If Black lives really DO matter to this crowd, then they should be marching and protesting every single day of the year in in the streets of Baltimore, Detroit, L.A, and others, and right down the street from the congregation - D.C.

  6. ALL LIVES MATTER, who would disagree!

  7. Why should this be sad? Why is this an issue? "Black" lives Matter is racist and I am very offended.

Why isn't it an issue when blacks vandalize Confederate monuments that were put up to honor the Soldiers who fought for the South?

  8. The banner/sign should have never been put up in the first place. "All Lives Matter" is the correct saying. Whoever is upset about that statement, has a serious issue of their own.

  9. We will soon find out that they cut it out themselves for the publicity. That's how the black lives matter crowd operates. They are the most despicable people on the face of the earth.

  10. Good. Show them that their flags and signs won't be tolerated. Just like our flags!

  14. Call me what you want. I don't think they matter on but any more. Look at their actions in the last five years. It's a grown trend. I used to preach on here all lives matter. After seeing the attacks on whites and the senseless destruction...... I can't no longer. I know this much . I'm not alone. Alot of people like me who were for all lives matter and cared for the blacks are slowly changing their stances. They are literally proving the stereotypes as true. Obama has hit the self destruct button on his own race.

  15. Where does it end??? I am pleased when symbols of hatred are removed BUT I totally disagree with rewriting history because someone is offended by something. To continue to use language that separates the races is more of a problem. Of course black lives matter, but so do all other lives regardless of color. By pointing out that one color of life matters is almost saying that they matter more.

I would support a HUGE sign that states ALL LIVES MATTER hung anywhere.

I can see why this sign would offend thin skinned people of all colors.

  16. Hey Bethesda... Here's some news from today's Sunpaper - maybe you should go hang a sign up there, because hanging up a sign REALLY helps move things along:
"...Police reported a fatal shooting Wednesday night, bringing Baltimore to 42 homicides so far in July. That matches the number of slayings recorded in May, which was the deadliest month since August 1990, when the city recorded 42 homicides, according to the Baltimore Sun..."

  20. Black Lives Matter only when it is convenient. They never seem to matter on any given weekend in places like Chicago or Baltimore...Sad that someone could get booed for saying all lives matter, even more sad that someone would apologize for saying it.

  21. Funny how they insist on putting up "their" signs, while tearing down our flags.

  23. Yes, the Confederacy fought for the south. It's a mystery to me why blacks object to that. It was as much in their behalf as anything Lincoln was the racist

  24. Sign wasn't vandalized. It was grammatically corrected.

  25. I agree with what has been said "all lives matter" to make a one race thing is racist. You know blacks can be racist too, we need to not be making excuses for being fair to all. White people should not be paying until the end of time for wrongs, we all have been wronged every race.
