In the latest case of “ I don’t think you understand the real problem,” TV Land has stopped airing its twice-daily reruns of The Dukes Of Hazzard in light of the recent controversy surrounding the Confederate flag. Yes, the flag is still flying down in South Carolina, but third-shift workers who want to watch a little “hicksploitation” in the afternoon are out of luck.
According to TV Line, “this move follows a decision by Warner Bros. to cease anyDukes merchandising deals involving the Confederate flag.” The treasonous battle flag had been emblazoned on the roof of the Duke boys’ orange 1969 Dodge Charger, affectionately called the General Lee. But now that Warner Bros. has ceased licensing any Dukes merchandise involving the flag, models and toys of the famous muscle car are going to be hard to come by, even at your local Winn-Dixie.

If that's the case, then I am offended by all movies that label Italians as mob members or "Dirty Italians"! Now will all those movies be banned? (I am really being sarcastic, I'm not offended) Just saying......

This makes no sense. I have never heard any of my black friends say this show offends them. But these stations that show classic tv show reruns think it's ok to run "All in the Family" with all the racial slurs on it? I could go on about other shows (past and present day) but I won't. This world is backwards and mixed up.

ReplyDeleteTime to Boycott TV Land! While I agree many think its a silly show, It was one of my favorites as a kid. Hardly any violence or sex... a good clean show that is rare today. And had good car chases! TV Land is making a huge mistake. As someone else pointed out... All in the Family was a lot more racist!! Will anyone dare ban that?
