Baltimore, Hagerstown, Landover Hills and Salisbury - State employees, elected officials, small business owners and community activists will hold rallies across the state tomorrow, Wednesday July, 22 to urge Governor Hogan to prevent staff cuts to vital public services. The Division of Corrections recently announced it will lay off 63 human resources workers to save $3 million (approximately 2/10 of 1% of the Division’s budget). It's about time the State Government Employees took a hit like the rest of us have for years. My wife is state employed , she and I both know they are way over loaded with unneeded employees. Examples: state roads 6 people in a truck , one person using a shovel. 3 people carrying one 2x4x8 , inspectors up the sways zing. On and on and on , let's hope the free ride is over Trayvons.
ReplyDelete65 human resources employees? Wow! That's an easy 3 million saved.
ReplyDeleteYes, they should cut at the top where there are six figure salaries that don't do anything because they have an executive assistance and a secretary. Way to many commissions in corrections.
ReplyDeleteWhere will humans go for their resources?!
ReplyDelete"Division of Corrections recently announced it will lay off 63 human resources workers."
ReplyDeleteHuman resources workers AKA PC Police.
All they have to do is get rid of the dead wood. And there's plenty in MD state government, especially in B'town.
ReplyDeleteAnother big cut should be minority affairs office,as an MBE business owner they do nothing to help us like they say they do.
ReplyDeleteThe Human Resources Dept. keeps track of all those state benefits (of which there are many). What will all the other employees do without them?
ReplyDeleteThe other Human Resources personnel will actually have to do some work for a change because there is no one to pass the 'buck' to now!
DeleteWho the F are these "community activists" starring in every other article I read? Who are they, how did they apply for the position, what are the qualifications, who signs their paycheck and are they paying taxes like the rest of us?
ReplyDeleteHuman resources , this has been a goal from the NAACP to insure the hiring of minorities , the ball game is over . Credentials and experience will be the factor for hiring as it should be , not if you are a person of color , color has nothing to do with productivity.
ReplyDeleteThe President Of This Scam Union Makes 280,000 Thousand A Year. Why?? SHAT Do THEY Do Besides Handing Over Employees Dues For The Democrats.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the salaries of tenured Univ. System of MD faculty. That liberal bastion pays almost any Associate Professor over 20 Years in excess of $100,000.00. In the smaller Univ. campus(s) there in actuality is no research required despite faculty denials. Pres. Janet Dudley has a package that pays her a value over $1,000,000.00 per year despite her denials. You will know the Gov. is serious when he starts to deal with this utter waste of taxpayer money. What about it Governor?
ReplyDeleteAsfcme is in damage control. I am a state employee who is forced to pay union dues under protest. They can't get anyone to join their union and pay the full dues. They don't represent me or my values. They are a branch of the Democratic and Socialist party. If you are a white male, forget about any support from them. I am certain those so called protesters in Salisbury are from the Baltimore area, and not from here.
ReplyDeleteHuman resources workers are usually the clerks who handle the paperwork needed to document a workforce, such as when someone is hired, goes on unemployment, takes a leave of absence, or retires, for example.
ReplyDeleteIf the government didn't require so much ridiculously redundant paperwork, they wouldn't need nearly as many workers to shuffle all those papers to begin with.
When big government is forced to downsize because the taxpayers can no longer afford it, then it is painful. Hopefully, with more support, planning, time and patience there will be more industry to go to for those unemployed to look for jobs.
ReplyDeleteI believe with Mearsk coming into Baltimore it will then introduce more manufacturing jobs within the state. By using Baltimore's port it will lead to jobs there as well as cheaper business costs throughout the state making it easy for more manufacturing to move in.
If they got rid of the deadwood they could save millions. Some get paid 40 hour workweek and are lucky to work a 25 hour workweek for good healthy salaries. Putting people (friends) in positions to falsify time sheets etc. If Gov. Hogan looked a little closer he could find this. They make it so hard on the working people who complain about their waste that they figure a way of getting rid of them. As far as the union they certainly are not going to do anything except take your money for dues. The ones who got all the raises and promotions were the cheats.
